I was really disappointed with the rushed feeling in the manga and I'm glad they finally show the fights that develop the characters, especially Sai. IMO Sai has had quite a development in the anime 
The kid is growing up ! Looking forward to more fillers

There was so much action, we even got to see lee fight, even though it was short he kicked that bomb style's users ass!
I want more! if they take till next year to show naruto again i don't mind!

However, this episode wasn't a filler because I remember reading about this battle. I actually remember reading about the sealing jutsu Sai used and the guy that wielded that helm splitter weapon.
