well the tailed beasts are just a huge mass of chakra in solid form, so probly.

I believe the last chapter explains what the thing was. Someone is controlling sasuke like with that same power shisui uchiha uses (the one they think danzo used to manipulate mifune).

Karin states 'his chakra is different from before' like ao (whatever the byukugan guy's name is) said he was the change in chakra on the muzikage.

Sasuke had said earlier "kill no1 but danzo". he only wanted revenge for what danzo made Itachi do. he never wanted to kill ne1 else.

I believe the manisfistation is just a representation of the person controlling sasuke (we are not suppose to know who that is yet). It makes no sense for Sasuke to tell his team not to kill ne1 and then say "now im pissed, ima go on killing spree". Some1 wants to start a war.
