    Re: General Football Debates!

Seems like Walcott might leave Arsenal as well. :/ Wenger will be having tough time if it happens, knowing that RVP is about to leave. And Ibra joined PSG; damn, Ancelotti sure is making a team.

    Neymar:

I know Barcelona supposedly last year put a down payment on him, to secure him in 2014, but it seems he is more keen on leaving earlier, as he has the pressure on himself and needs to still develop.

The way Neymar plays, he doesn't suit Barcelona style, but better for Madrid style, but than again people thought the same about Dinho. Either way he will have to change a lot when coming to Barcelona.

His hype is given by all Brazilians, Pele, Ramario, Dinho, Ronaldo, Kaka, etc. The man has talent no denying it, but the games, I've seen of his and the video whenever he does something amazing he goes down pretty quick, Europe will be a lot more rougher, so he needs to watch out on that.

I feel bad for Wenger, just when Arsenal make a few big signings this year, most these guys are ready to depart. I hope RVP and Walcott stay one more season, I have a strange vibe for Arsenal if they do this season.

Polodski can add some flair in their game, Giroud can bring in more goals, and with RVP/Walcott a lot can happen, including if Wilshere comes back healthy and if they get M'Vila.

I don't know why but Neymar supposed coming at Barça gives me some good feeling. Beside everything that differs him from the other players our team has, I believe that, if he really plays "with heart" about Barça, he will overcome every difference and will become a great "Més Que Un Club" player.

    Supposed haters question:
How in the earth is he going to change if he has his own style?
Well, you know, I don't find this an easy thing, nor impossible. If he accepts to play for Barça he has considered everything, even making himself fit with the team. Step by step, little by little, he'll make himself home. Beside I'm not saying he lose his originality, just cooperate a bit with others. Would be good for everyone.

    ---

I actually think that if he joins our team, and everything works out well, we'd be kinda "Superhero" team. Damn! Would be a very hard team to be beaten, considering that we already are hard.

P.S: Did any of the things I said makes sense? LOL. ._.

Neymar is all hype. I saw a few of his videos and games itself, and TBH he does amazing dribbles, but is on the ground a lot of the time. The likes of Busquets/Alves already give us a bad name, and Neymar will just add to that bad rep. especially since our rivals and Bracelona haters assume we are divers.

The thing with Neymar is he's over hyped by many Brazilians including likes of Pele/Ronaldo. They think either he's better than Messi, on his level, and/or will be better. This is also why he costed around 60 million euros. This also could face some heavy problems if Neymar decides to hold a competition between him and Messi during games.

It depends he could benefit, or not. Ibra came, but the fact he had to play second to Messi didn't go his way and Neymar maybe the same. Neymar tries to showboat a lot, even more than CR7, which is something Barcelona doesn't like Dinho was just different he could do it and score, where Neymar doesn't posses the same thing (at least yet), but Neymar will improve as a player better in Barcelona playing with the likes of Xavi/Iniesta/Fabregas/Messi etc.

The thing is we need a support striker for Messi. Villa broke his leg, so I don't see him being that prolific scorer he use to be and he isn't getting any younger either (Only time will tell how Villa recovers). Sanchez was impressive in the start, but dropped form and he's still in and out of injury. Pedro is also in and out of injury. Our defense is also the problem with Puyol/Abidal aging and getting into many injuries, Pique and Shakira dilemma all tho I hear things are not going too well between the two. I wanted Thaigo Silva, but Milan sold him to PSG after telling us they aren't selling him

99% this won't happen and thank Pele/Ronaldo etc for this. They have over hyped Neymar now he cost 60 million euros, only Ligue 1 PSG can get him, but it'd be pointless, as they already have many strikers and so many ego in their squad. Ronaldo/Dinho/Zidane costed only 4 million euros (or less, and that was alot in there days, but not 60 million) when Roanldo went to Netherlands, Dinho to France, and Zidane to Italy were as Neymar would cost 60 million euros. Neymar was been more hyped than those three in their 20s.

Fact is he can only be afforded by the big clubs in Europe.

    Some side news:

Escorps seems like Pique/Fabregas aren't the only ones who face the girl dilemma, your new signing Kagawa is dating a pornstar

This is what his girl said in a recent interview. Maybe considered Rated R

According to the Daily Star Sunday the 24 year old Kanagawa-born babe is very open about her love for sex - "the nastier the better".

He may get distracted and lets hope her appearance doesn't distract the rest of the United squad, and/or give SAF a heart attack lol

New light has been brought upon FA and the racist rows. If no body heard Terry has been let off, but may still face punishment, which has yet to be told.

Suarez was quite furious about this as many others were. I say discrimination towards this South American.

Terry supposedly said the words to Ferdinand, but he and the court believe is he repeated those words, because he assumed Ferdinand thought he said that. Suarez cases was really no difference, he was 1/4 black (Suarez), SA were the term is used regularly. He admitted to using the term just as Terry did, but not in a racist way. Terry got a slap on the wrist and may get off, but Suarez got charged 40 thousand pounds and 8-10 game suspension.

Rio Ferdinand called Cole, "'choc ice'", which is some what racist, as it means black from outside and white from inside, and than states he isn't racist, but called Cole fake.

FA better take action on these two and better ban them the same they did to Suarez this is unacceptable. If this doesn't happen than its clear they are no better than any league protecting their own players, and discriminating the foreigners.

    Lets look at this.

Influential - We both agreed Messi a long with Ronaldo are influential for their clubs. Positive/Negative we can look at some other time.

Obstacles/Tactics - This can vary every season, but both compete with one another and play their tactics/roles well.

Attitudes - We can agree Messi does have the better attitude? Can we?

Carry - Messi has carried Barcelona a lot more this season, not saying Ronaldo hasn't (for Madrid) but the data supports Messi nevertheless.

    Messi - 73 Goals 29 Assists
    Fabregas - 15 Goals 20 Assists
    Sanchez - 15 Goals 5 Assists
    Xavi - 14 Goals 16 Assists

    Ronaldo - 60 Goals 16 Assist
    Benzema - 32 Goals 15 Assists
    Higuain - 26 Goals 10 Assists
    Ozil - 10 Goals 24 Assists

Also Barcelona have only 32% win rate when Messi doesn't score, hence why he carried Barcelona quite a bit this season. When CR never scored Madrid still got majority of the victories.

When you look at it both were, very close, but carrying the club I'd say Messi, which may also, just slightly edge him past Ronaldo influence wise to (this season).

Regardless I have just described to you how Messi even meets the old criteria for the past 3-4 years.

At the end there isn't a big gap between the two, but this season I think Messi just edged Ronaldo by that 1%.
First of all, sorry for late-reply.

    Secondly, Ramzaan Mubarak.

Thirdly, I'll skip certain points since I'm tired but bear with me.

You compared well how Ronaldo and Messi met the required criteria. Though, I still repeat that Messi and Ronaldo's attitudes are diverse but none have negative attitudes. They both are a big +ve influence for the youth in their respective ways. Also, you didn't said on Accomplishments factor; where I still think, Ronaldo's Liga is worth more than Messi's trophies won last season.

But here's my major glitch with your analysis. You simply said how much these 2 matches required criteria. But how about we see how much others players match those require criteria. I repeat, this Ballon D'Or is somewhat of a popularity contest where we just compare the two beauties that is CR7/Messi.

Sure, Messi met those criterias in last 4 years. Sure, Ronaldo met those criterias in atleast 3 out 5 last years. But still, Sneijder also met those in 2010. Iniesta also met those in 2010/2011. Xavi still met those in 2010/2011. And sincerely, they matched it better.

Quote Originally Posted by ReLax - View Post

I agree. I believe both deserve more than one Ballon if you ask me, but Messi has just been Messi. He's been a phenomenal in the past 3-4 years. His growth has been amazing and he only gets better, with a lot of club/individual accomplishment, including breaking records set by legends, its hard to face that. When both Messi/Ronaldo have a off season than will see someone else. I've already up top describe how Messi meets the old criteria nevertheless.

If you read Ronaldo (Brazilian) latest interview he even admits Messi is the best in the world despite being a Madrid supporter, which makes him rival to Barcelona and the fact that he is Brazilian, which makes him another rival country wise with Argentina. its his opinion, but its not like he is bullshitting, but rather accepting the facts in front of him.

I think to players its an honour to be nominate and especially a long side Messi/Ronaldo. No one really complains considering a lot of players complain match wise award wise I don't think they have a reason to complain, but all the humble players could careless about this trophy, they just want to improve and help their nation/club as much as they can. The fact of being nominated is good enough for them.

73 goals? 60 goals? This will already be consider as an influence in the game. As I said players barely scored 50 goals a reason. Messi has done that almost 4 years now, while Ronaldo has for 2 years?

I disagree with this. Not really a popularity contest. If that was the case more than half the coaches rather have Xavi and/or Iniesta over Messi/Ronaldo. As I said Messi has been always that 1% better. If Ronaldo has a season were he performs at 100%, Messi will perform at 101% (thats the way its been for the past 3-4 years). Also Messi has outshines Ronaldo in majority of there meetings this season and obviously others.

Ronaldo gets the ball quite a bit actually wouldn't say that Ronaldo sees the ball less than Messi. When a attack goes the ball usually goes towards the wing were Ronaldo is. This year maybe Messi took more shots, but usually Ronaldo has more like in 10/11 season Messi 177 shots, Ronaldo 213 shots.

Espana and Copa we beat Madrid in a 2 game match each, which we got the best of it. Are you saying Madrid never tried those games? I'm not going to sit here and complain, but we did ever a weak defence this season with Puyol/Abidal in and out and Pique lost in Shakira thought he only played 20 games or less this season. Yet look how far we managed because of mostly Messi, Xavi, and Ineista. We seemed like in reach for the La Liga/CL until those 6 days of terror.

Anyways regardless this can go on for days, may the best man win and we will surely be back on this topic next season, if not it may trigger in sometime soon again.
Xavi most loved player? A manager like Wenger - ardent supporter of possession football and of Xavi/Iniesta - actually voted for Messi. Many managers/journalists/coaches may say to love Xavi/Iniesta more but when it comes to votes, it's always Ronaldo and Messi who are considered the most. A journalist pointed that most coaches' choices didn't went beyond Messi/Ronaldo. I wished I could post the video footage done on Ballon D'Or but it's copyrighted by TF1 and it's in French anyways.

If we were to analyse most comments on that video, then I could prove how much Messi/Ronaldo are much over in terms of popularity in minds of most big names in football nowadays. Much bigger than Xavi, Iniesta or any other player.

It's ultra-sad that we've come to a point where we need to indeed wait that CR7/Messi have an off-season; no matter how brilliant some other players perform.

Ballon D'Or is bullshit right now and most players who care less about it are right. Still, many consider it highly as it's still got that old prestige. Prestige completely wandering since some years according to me.

And I won't say more on it also. Let's end it. I won't say: may the Best Man win though. I'd rightfully say it in my perspective - May the Most Deserving Man win.

You already know my pros on this as we had a long discussion regrading this last summer. I'll state some cons they probably are dealing with, and/or trying to avoid. I will also show some on how it may reflect on the fans etc the best I can.

Look at Madrid/Brasil/Ajax/Bayern/Liverpool/Milan/United/Barcelona/Spain, you think there dominance came thru clean games, without bad calls/dives/play acts? but can we say that they didn't deserve the success?

the thing is FIFA/UEFA won't take this seriously yet due to the sheer factor all these people complain (including myself). We see offensive (tika-taka football), people call it boring/lame, we see Madrid/Bayern play they call it too aggressive, defensive base football park the bus/negative tactics. The truth is 75-80% of football fans are just bitter, if there club loses they want to look for an excuse, they play boring, they play aggressive, they play negatively, they dive/play act, we were tired, and etc. Many people liked Chelsea defensive approach, but when Spain played defence VS France people accused them of negative football and called it boring yet called Chelsea heroic. Greece did the same VS Germany the same people who commentated the Chelsea games, were praising Chelsea, but be little Greece trying the same tactic.

This is the thing your team wins thru a bad call everyones jumping and dancing the second they lose to a certain call we demand video replay to be added. If they do add it will be insane and still won't solve much. It'll first slow down games, giving players like Messi/Ronaldo/Iniesta/Xavi breaks. In NBA/NHL it takes about 3-5 mins to come up with a result and/or decision if each side gets 10 and they use it all that'd be an extra 30 mins to the game, and if refs can make certain calls like give a free kick which leads to a goal will still complain. I'd say give 3 and the most 5, but even thats pushing it, but fans will still moan we won't more and etc.

    Others minor ones are.

    - Some refs/staff may lose their jobs, a strike may happen once introduced
    - May make refs get a little lazy
    - More money being spent by FIFA/UEFA
    - Fans/players/coaches will still complain

Even in football refs/video replay not supporting the certain calls players/coaches/fans are complaining about they'll still complain. Navas goal VS Croatia were ppl still believe its offside

I'm sure Platini is not the only one who makes decisions there, its an entire FIFA/UEFA office board, so a lot of people probably aren't on board with this yet. There still will be some fans/players/coaches who may complain about this if it happens.
I never said great teams got all fair calls or that some teams always get favorable and some unfavorable calls against them. Still, justice shall prevail. It sounds corny but it's my deep belief. So, whatever nature of the fans are - at the end, football already got much flaws like deep money influence, political and management background, corruption, player's personal issues, scandals ect... Removing one flaw - bad refereeing - is a good thing. It's won't be perfect football but it'll be better football.

And side note: Spain's tika-taka wasn't really offensive against France or in certain matches. One reason that Chelsea' defensive tactic was primed as heroic, is because they resisted. While, for Spain's defensive possession tactic, it was tagged as boring cause they were dominating but not crucifying.

If I were to take analytical comparison, then it's like a lion and tortoise. Even if the tortoise can't attack, there's good spectacle if the lion attacks with all their might. And the more the tortoise resist, the more they seem to be heroic. Now, in case of Spain, they are the lions. Still, they just keep roaming around the tortoise without charging. Since the tortoise is slow and lion is timid, it's definitely not a good show to watch. Overall point is this - a match's entertainment depends on the clash of styles. Every style/tactic can be entertaining but it needs to be pitted against a good opposing style.

Refs/Staffs may lose their jobs and cause a strike? Most tennis referees nowadays are hailing how most competitors respect them more since video replaying was more widely introduced. They still have lots of responsibilities on their back but they also got certain support. Video help shall be viewed as a weapon support; not as something that make them insecure. Knights are good but they are better with a sword!

Aren't refs already lazy? That 5th official can't even do his single job done properly.

It's already a money wastage to pay all those referees while technology+3 referees will have been enough. Besides, investment on video replaying/goal-line technology is a one-time investment but its' benefits will keep ripening on a longer duration.

Their complains aren't going to decrease with current situation anyways. Video help may not do much good in terms of changing fans/teams' nature of whining but neither will it do any harm.

True, it's a board decision. But yet, when the boss comes up with an ideal, others follow. So, Platini is main culprit - not the sole one but the major one.

We can still do that now. I mean every other year after Euro/WC. Its like Euro, All Star, WC, Euro, All Star, WC, etc, and/or Euro, All star, WC, All Star, Euro, All Star, WC, etc. I don't think Euro/WC will ever be gone, unless football itself is completely done.

Theres so many ways this can happen I was watching the charity game, with Messi, Drogba, D. Milito VS Suarez, Cavani, Falcao. It was fun they all played for fun and laughed on the pitch with one another.

The all star game can be determined in many different ways. NHL they pick a captain for both sides and have them go thru a selection among which ever player is available and there. They choose their entire squad from scratch, or they can do what NBA does and choose among the best performers that year and split them up into two different teams. FIFA can make it even better. I mean have the big leagues like Spain/Italy/Germany/England choose the best performers from their league and face off.

Spain would have like Messi/Ronaldo/Xavi/Iniesta/Casillas etc Italy Buffon/Ibra/Pirlo/De Rossi/Maicon/Cassono etc

I'd personal just have two and chose the best performers of that year and/or at least whoever is available. We'd see dream midfielder like Iniesta/Xavi/Pirlo/Fabregas/De Rossi/Silva/Lampard/Gerrard, strikers like Messi/Neymar/Ronaldo/Villa/Rooney/RVP/Augero, defenders like Puyol/Vidic/Kompany/Pique/Hummels/Pepe, RB/LB like Ramos/Alba/Bale/Alves/Maicon/Cole, GK like Casillas/Buffon/Reina/De Gea/Hart/Neuer, coaches like Pep/Cyruff/SAF/Wenger/Mou/Mancini. Some would be on the same team or opposite and many would get a good experience and learn from these games.

This is the way I'd have the starting line up from this years performance

    Team A

    Strikers: Messi/RVP/Silva
    Midfield: Iniesta/Hazard/Pirlo
    LB/RB: Ramos/Alba
    Defence: Hummels/Kompany
    GK: Casillas

    Team B

    Strikers: Ronaldo/Rooney/Augero
    Midfield: Xavi/Modric/Ozil
    LB/RB: Bale/Alves
    Defenders: Pepe/Puyol
    GK: Buffon

Nah, Euro/WC + All-Stars game are too much as the league season is too exhausting. Yet, every 2 years is good to me. And I initially thought of Each leagues chose their best performers; instead of how NBA does it with Captain ect... I considered both but when I asked this question, my thought was bending more towards a League Face-Off.

I like your idea of 2 teams facing off with brightest performers but I personally prefer the League Idea. It's less overpowering and could get the CL feel into it. Besides, most leagues post their Best XI (on paper) after a season. Will be nice to actually see them in action in a true competition.

Though, your idea of 2 teams are great and looks mouth-watering on paper. Still, if we were to analyse it - this kind of 2 teams specification won't give much room to players from Bundesliga, Port. Liga, Eridivesie, Ligue 1 ect... Though, they won't be favorites - nothing is certain in football and it'll be nice to reunite most of them and see them clash.

Perhaps 8 best leagues' team into a Group Stage and we'll proceed with Semi-Finals+3rd Place+Final with the 2 teams who tops off their respective Group Stage.

Side Note: If all of these [Pep/Cyruff/SAF/Wenger/Mou/Mancini] manage to co-exist, football will witness a beautiful revolution.

And it feels nice to talk on something like this for a change. No comparisons - just nice suggestions that tickles imagination.

I have been watching Luis Suarez foir the past 4-5 years and this guy is just impressing me. His performance for Uruguay is mind blowing. Finishing 4th at WC10 and making Germany/Netherlands work for their victory, the Copa America victory beating Brasil/Argentina to it. Uruguay just had a game VS Chile and they were down 2-0, but ended up winning 6-4 were Suarez scored a hattrick and got a PK which Cavani took.

I mean honestly Liverpool need to sign players to support him, or at least get a real frigging danger man not that pathetic Carrol. Suarez is just wasting his time there. I would rather have him move to Juventus, as they seem more promising and Suarez in the squad can make it explosive. AT least they made their first signing, Fabio Borini from Roma.

The Olympics are coming and to me I have a feeling Uruguay may take it, it would be huge for them as they won Copa last year and perhaps gold medal this year, but they will probably finish among the top 3 for sure (I hope).

Its good to see this from Uruguay they were the first nation to hold the WC in 1930. A very promising side.
Liverpool, Inter, Milan, Roma - big teams but it's time we lower expectations for them on transfer seasons. It's gonna take a miracle for them to regain lost glaze and glory.

For Olympics, I think favorites are Spain and Brazil. Argentina and Uruguay are great underdogs. GB's team is not that good; even with home advantage but I'm ecstatic to see Giggs (finally...) in a big National competition. They may get eliminated quickly but he's someone who deserve that chance to atleast feature in one.

Technically, he used 'is'. Since it's grammatically referring to the present tense, I guess he meant Best in the World today. Besides, Brazilians always like to hype their past achievements. So I doubt that a Brazilian someday will admit that Messi is the Best Player football has witnessed. They can say that he's the current Best since it's nearly undeniable but their ego won't let them admit it in overall history category. Besides, Messi is Argentinian so...you get my point

Possible but perhaps we should consider the fact that at that times, Brazilian League was among the Best in the World (if not the best ever). Europe's dominance rise some years later. Somehow, it wasn't like Pele played in a league that was at the level Brazilian League is today. Nope, he played in a League that was at its peak.

Quickly, on the Zidane topic though. As ReLax said, we won't much far with it since it's mostly based on opinions.

Personally, I would place Zidane as best playmaker ever. Cryuff as better than Pele. Messi as better than Maradona. But again, it's my own opinion.

I had a link listing his 5 greatest 'abominations'. Still, he did better and more refrained season last year. And his good Euro didn't sidetracked him towards bad roads again. He'll be a respected and among greatest defenders if he keeps his current performance and attitude for next 2-3 seasons.

    This one is hilarious.

Xavi is like saying goodbye in semi-glad state and Busquets' face is just lmao. This one is great meme material.

And Messi's girlfirend is really short; though hot. I'm not wishing them that but I hope there's no issues with pregnancy. That height is not ideal for a pregnant girl.

Silva should have came to Barcelona, but Milan wouldn't allow it instead they sell him to PSG.

PSG also signed Lavezzi for 26 million and Silva for 33 million. I'm not sure what Ibra cost them, or will cost them. They are also pursuing Suarez, Cavani, Torres, or Higuain.

United want to make 2 more signings between Leighton Baines, Robin Van Persie, Lucas Moura and Joao Moutinho. They will hear from Baines next week and most likely he may sign leaving them with one spot opened and SAF is keen on getting Moutinho.

RVP is either going to United or City, with City obviously leading the race. City has been told their spending days are over and need to sell in order to receive. I heard Tevez deal with Milan is going on and should be done in the next week or so opening a move for RVP. Ibra is leaving (most likely), so Tevez deal will be good for Milan, but if the deal flops they may have to sell Dezko instead, Dezko is also wanted by Bayern.

Moura saga is going on still with Madrid and United leading the race, but Moura seems to care more about the salary than the transfer fee, he wants a reported amount of £120,000. This will put SAF off and give Madrid the chance to sign him.

Hence why SAF is after Moutinho, but Spurs also want him, so Moutinho can see himself playing under AVB again. Moutinho will cost around £30 million.

Modric has agreed terms with Madrid, but is still facing problems as Sahin doesn't want to depart, especially to Spurs. Modric is also still being chased by Chelsea and PSG.

Porto Hulk, still not too sure of rumours going around Chelsea wants him and he also states he's going there, but than says he heard nothing about it.

Ganso wants out of Santos alerting a lot of top clubs, but he for some reason doesn't want to leave Brasil just yet due to him assuming it may effect his chances playing for Brasil in WC14. Hr recently did expresses his desire to keep going with Santos.

Neymar, fate will be decided in Olympics, his performance may spark, or disappoint may want him to get better hence moving to Europe. Neymar has expressed his admiration for Messi and Iniesta, but he also said he liked watching Ozil play. He will either be going to Barcelona and/or Madrid.

Robinho could leave Milan also. Cesar and Reina are both wanted by Milan as their starting GK.
Ibra signed and with his height, he can be said to be second greatest Parisian attraction after Eiffel Tower.

So, there's a Alex/Silva as central defense, a Verrati/Motta and Matuidi/Sissokho/Bodmer in central midfield. Pastore as behind-striker. 3 guys [Menez/Nene/Lavezzi] on winger positions and Ibra on attack. Say whatever we want but this PSG team looks great. Leonardo said it was the last transfer though - so I guess, no Kaka, RVP, Suarez, Cavani, Torres, or Higuain ect.. for now. Frankly, it's kinda reassuring that they are not talking more of the above.

If we go by Fergie's word, it's only one more signing. Though, I think he might do a second one if there's 1-2 departures like Anderson, Nani or Berbatov. Baines have great chance of signing. Modric's price made Fergie to run away and the same case is with Lucas and Martinez liberating clauses. That leaves them Moutinho and Sahin. With minor hopes on RVP.

Coming on RVP, I applaud Wenger's decision to stick to him even if it means that he might leave free next season. It's a great gamble - either break an 8 year curse to convince RVP of Arsenal's trophies' intentions or lose their talismanic striker for free. I personally like it - cause it isn't worth to sell a player 5-10 Million when he could have gotten 50 Million easily if he had 3-4 years contract years remaining. Rather keep him...

I'm surprised Hulk's transfer isn't done yet. I guess, most of these Brazilians are going to be courted by English clubs once they land in England for Olympics. Especially Lucas, Ganso and Hulk.

Agree with Neymar. Thunderbolt's post is nicely reported and thus, I don't wanna add much to it as I did said my opinion on Neymar before.

I, no more, know what expect from Arsenal. Or what kind of feeling shall I bear for Wenger? Oh well, they are in better position than Liverpool or Milans clubs atleast.

    ---

P.S: Did any of the things I said makes sense? LOL. ._.
It's not only a matter of changing style for Neymar. There's lots of factors. There's his ego and whether he can co-exist with Messi and Co. who already proved their worth. There's the pressure to deliver due to all this hype. There's this adaptation to Barca play and European culture. There's the fact about how he'll play in a team that resolves around Messi and play for Messi. At Santos, everyone plays for him. How will he do in a team where limelight isn't totally on him? Besides, he's going to have a rivalry with Messi/Ronaldo to challenge their supremacy if we go by Brazilian's legends words. Now, one of these 2 will be Neymar's teammates - so, there's the fact about how sane or poisonous will this rivalry turn out?

Let's face it - Neymar's case is not just a transfer of a talented young striker. There's so much hype on this transfer that all kind of minor or major details may make or break Neymar's career. And only time will tell the outcome.

Wait what? How didn't I heard of that? xD Anyways, I never said anything bad on Fab's issue with girls. Yeah, Pique is another case Still, it's Kagawa's private life. It may also have positive influence on him instead of a negative one.

Iker-Sara's relation was ultra-hyped after WC2010 but Casillas is still as his best. Ronaldo - I don't even know where to start - is the Best or Second-Best player in the world despite all these issues.

But yeah, then there's the flip side - Giggs with his sister-in-law, John Terry with Bridge *ahem*, Rooney cheating on Coleen, Ribery-Benzema with Zahia and other cases where those players dropped in shape during those times where the private lives were heavily publicized.

The thing I find funny though is that Kagawa seems so shy as a guy. Gosh, appearances can be really fouled at times

I won't get on the touchy racist subject though.

This video bought some tears into my eyes Messi was so small compared to all those other players. Aparicio was so proud of Messi and he only saw him till 2008, only if he was here today, to see what Messi has become.

Not sure how much of a prestige this is, but Ronaldo apparently won the Goal.com top 50 of the year or something, with Casillas 2nd and Messi 3rd:

Sorry for double posting, but tonight is going to be interesting with Barca - and Man U kicking off as we speak, while Real and Milan will kick off later tonight.

Friendlies or not, going to be great

    Edit:

Penalty miss!! Valdez saves as Rooney blasts the reflected ball far to the side of the post!
    0-0 at half time.

I was more surprised at the PK being given.

Yeah, seemed like he hit him with the backside of his leg or something, causing him to fall over. Think the penalty was more rewarded because of a dangerous tackle than how bad it was.

    Edit:
Seeing as the two of you are here now, I'll gently leave the analysis of first half to you

Maybe...the tackle didn't seem all that dangerous tho, as it was clear Tello was trying to go for the ball, but missed it and was a bit away from Evra (?) who slipped over him and pulled a Busquets.

Not much to analysis, United seem to have already gotten into our PK box many times, as usual our defence isn't doing well. I mean seriously Barcelona CEO/board are all over Neymar were Pep and Vilanova don't want him as of yet at least. We had chance to sign T. Silva, but couldn't get a deal, even Hummels was a good choice, but they didn't go for him due to him being young. I honestly see Hummels signing with Madrid in a year or two, always in FIFA 12 career he signs with them. I fear heading into the Espana Cup VS Madrid and the rest of the campiagne with this defence, last year we tried to get Xavi/Iniesta to hold possession, but that got us so far. If Pique doesn't get Shakira out of his mind we are doomed, Puyol isn't getting younger and I fear he will be injured again Abidal is in the same boat and he won't come back till Decemeber at the least. We don't even know how Villa maybe leaving Messi as the lone striker again.

Well, Milan without Silva/Ibra and with Pato at the Olympics, I won't be expecting much from Milan, or rather a victory from them, but than again we can be up for a roller coaster ride.

    Re: General Football Debates!

With NB down and all, we kind off missed out on talking about some stuff.

First off, Real crushed Milan 5-1, which is quite impressive if you ask me. The game was great to watch and was all in all entertaining with many of the best players on the field.
Although I must agree with Relax, that Milan definitely needs some build up season this year after they lost and sold all those players.

Real also beat Celtic 2-0 yesterday, but the main event of that match was really the dreadful event where one of the Celtic players passed out after a crash with Sahin in the air. Looked pretty bad.

Onwards, Mexico Olympic Champions. Not that I cared too much about the Olympic football this time around, but I really thought Brazil would finally win this.
Saw the last ten minutes or so, and from what I saw it seemed to be a good match.
    2-1 for Mexico btw.

    Re: General Football Debates!

I was actually expecting a thrashing from Madrid to Milan. Kaka had a great game with three assist coming off bench, I wonder if he'll return to Milan, or what will happen Ronaldo wants him still at Madrid, Mou doesn't care he'll sell him for the right price. Milan need to make some siging or they will have a dark season

Mexico VS Brasil -- 2-1 FT

I didn't catch the entire game as I went back and forth between this and the Supercoppa Italia. I had this strange feeling Mexico were going to win I don't know why, it was just this vibe despite Brasil power housing this entire tournament. Brasil had the advantage nevertheless as Dos Santos (Mexico) who was stellar in this Olympics was out of the final due to injury. Peralta scored twice for Mexico and Hulk bought one back for Brasil in ET, and Oscar had a good chance only to miss the target.

Congrats to Mexico it is their first gold medal (I think) and Brasil needs to wait another 4 years.

Juventus VS Napoli -- 4-2 in ET

Well the Italian side kicked off for the Supercoppa Italiana. Napoli took the lead thru Cavani only for Juventus to level the game 10 mins later and 4 mins after that Napoli took the lead again thru Pandev just before HT. In the 72nd minute a PK was given to Juventus for a foul in the Napoli box, Vidal struck that home to level it. Pandev received a straight red card in the 86th minute, which was questionable tho since he didn't have a yellow. The Napoli GK kicked the ball with Pandev off side, but Juventus still got the possession the ref blow the whistle. The ref and some Napoli players including Pandev had an exchange of words not sure what happen and than a red card came out. Zuniga received his second yellow in the 90th minute mark (didn't see this one). In ET it was 9 VS 11 and thats all she wrote, Maggio got an OG and than 4 minutes later Vucinic put the game away.

Juventus got their vengeance from last year losing to Napoli in Coppa Italia, Juventus first loss that season I think.

Manchester City VS Chelsea (Money VS Money) -- 3-2 FT

The good news is Chelsea didn't park the bus Anyways the Community Shield kicked off with a mouth watering line up from both sides, City unfortunately had to play without Hart and Balotelli. The game started well as both side offence seemed deadly, but City offence was the dangerous one. The score board opened up in the 40th minute with a nice pass from Ramires to Torres who put the ball in City net. In the 42nd minute a red card was handed out to Ivanovic, at first it was questionable, but after the reply a few times and hearing what the commentaries were saying about the foul and player it seemed like the correct call as he did go in with feet and didn't touch the ball. 53rd to 65th minute is all City need Toure scored in the 53rd minute with a nice one touch and striker from outside the box, 59th minute Tevez struck one home, they said he always scores against Chelsea well he did it again with a nice just on the edge of the box and tough angle also. In the 65th minute Korlarov came from the left wing and corss the ball in Chelsea box were Nasri sent it home to make it 3-1. 10 man Chelsea did get a goal back when City back up GK Pantilimon made a saved, but left a juicy rebound were Bertrand struck it home to make it 3-2 with City still leading.

City won at FT 3-2 and added another trophy to their list.

Some things to look at between the two, Chelsea are trying to adept to a more offensive game this season. Chelsea owner Abramovich wants to play similar to Barcelona or at least close to them he wants Chelsea to win CL with style, hence why he bought players like Mata/Hazard/Oscar as he wants them to get a Messi/Xavi/Iniesta thing going. Chelsea still look good defence wise, as they got Ivanovic/Luiz/Terry/Cole and Lampard drops back a lot.

City seem to look a bit more dangerous than last season, but not much major changes, tho Tevez/Balotelli will be battling for the first team a long with Dezko. Dezko came off the bench had a break way only to screw up he could have fed Aguero, or striked himself, but didn't I feel he may depart, or at least should. Hazard needs more time, but he also wasn't living up to his hype.

On the side Neymar is a father (I didn't know this), he knocked up a 17 year oldlol well he had the kid when he was 19 years old. He did hide the girls identity to protect her I guess. This guy is another Ronaldo/Dinho/CR7 maybe even beyond them as he's been thru many girls.

Neymar received a phone call from Mou saying he wants him at Madrid, Vilanova showed no interest on Neymar yet. Oscar will start training with Chelsea soon and is trying to pursued Neymar to come also.

Moura has signed for PSG for a fee of 45 million euros and SaF says "the game is gone mad. 45 for a 19 year old." I hear it was actually 36, which is 6 more than United offered. SaF forgot he signed 18 year old Rooney for roughly that much.

SAF still wants RVP as he needs him it clearly showed in the Barcelona game, Barcelona need reinforcement on defence and United need reinforcement on offence.

And Villa made his return VS Dynamo in the friendly were we won 2-0 he came on in the 72nd minute is damn good to see him back. We got one more friendly and a La Liga game before the Espana El Clasico hopefully Villa gets comfortable.

I'd like to see this again

@Relax - You forgot to comment on the German Super cup that was played yesterday with Bayern winning 2-1 over Dortmund.

Speaking of Super Cups, did they already play the French one? Haven't heard nothing of it and as far as I care, it's the Super Copa Espana who's next on the block, lol

Really? I honestly didn't see that game and can't believe I missed it. I just saw the highlights both side goals came from some poor play. It was the defense fault on both Bayern goal as they did a poor job marking and defending/clearing. The first goal the ball literally went right by two players before Mandzukic put it in the net. Mueller wan't even marked for the second goal and it hit off the post going by one/two player before Mueller got the rebound. Dortmund was a weak shot that Neuer couldn't stop. Anyways congrats to Bayern first title in 2 years lol

France one went on between Lyon and Montpellier. It was 2-2 and Lyon won on PK 4-2. I'm more interested in watching PSG TBH in which they did draw in their first match of the season. The French cup was playing near the end of July and it was in USA with only 15000 in attendance.

    Heres the French highlights

Tottenham has also agreed to sell Modric to Madrid for 25 million, he was roughly around 30-40 million a few weeks back, but Madrid lowered the price and said its final. I guess Modric isn't keen on staying and won't give them 100%.

    Re: General Football Debates!

    Khair Mubarak

Accomplishment with club, sure I'll give that to Ronaldo. Messi winning four titles may not be as major as Liga, but a long with his record breaking season, does put a edge past Ronaldo in my eyes. This season itself Barcelona relied too much on Messi, than Madrid did on Ronaldo. If this counts for anything Barcelona along with Messi has gotten the best of Madrid with Ronaldo this season with a 3-2-1 for Barcelona in direct encounters VS Madrid, in which we did take two titles from them. I remember last year many wanted to give the award to Ronaldo because he won Copa and stats (La Liga 40 goal mark) were similar except Messi edged away by assists. Messi also won both La Liga and CL. This year Messi has performed better than Ronaldo individually and won Copa Del Rey, so if last year Ronaldo was a runner up, this year with Messi unbelievable season may give him the edge.

True enough, but Xavi, Iniesta, and Sneijder aren't the only victims. Pele/Maradona have never touched a Ballon D'or or even mentioned in the top 3 despite today being regraded as the best ever. I read somewhere back in the days they never allowed South Americans to win that award, this in my eyes is injustice. What about the year 2004? Dinho/Henry/Shevchenko? Don't get wrong Dinho is blaugrana, but surely in 2004 he shouldn't have been ahead of Henry. Dinho won nothing that year with Barcelona and only scoring 14 league goals and 24 overall that season yet he won FIFA world player of the year and was third for ballon d'or. FIFA world player of the year I'm sure was base on individual performance, so Dinho was good that year, but ballon D'or? Shevchenko won it and Dinho got third? Henry Arsenal went invisible that season not losing a single game and Henry recording 30 goals in EPL. Deco was second for Ballon, but he got a treble with Porto (if I'm not wrong) and most importantly was a part of the Portugal team that reached final in Euro. Surely one of these two deserved the award a head of the others.

The point being in some what way or form there will be someone getting out casted from this award we can go back to Di Stefano, Pele, Cryuff, Platini, Maradona days and open our books look thru each promising player that season and surely find out someone else deserve the award more. FIFA world player of the year award is now a part of Ballon D'or, so its FIFA Ballon D'or now, so individual records/performance is now at least half the award. Surely if FIFA world player of the year was separate Messi would have won that as his individual performances was better than Sniejder/Xavi/Iniesta/Ronaldo the past few years and the ballon to someone else.

Well it seem the top three for the FIFA Ballon D'Or award are Messi, Iniesta, and Ronaldo. Pirlo finished 4th and Xavi finished 5th.

When I spoke of Xavi/Iniesta being most loved I meant world wide wise, not among the ballon d'or voters.

Zidane/Ronaldo days these guys only lost the individual awards when they had off or decent seasons. Roanldo (#9) hasn't had one season were he scored 50 goals, or even Dinho for that fact were as Messi/Ronaldo for the past 4 years have averaged 50 goals a season. The reason why they are always favs.

Anyways I'll end this here to as we can go on all day about this matter, but personally ballon d'or has always been the way it has been with a slight change as it has become an individual award also with FIFA world player linked to it. The players today can only curse themselves for being in a generation were Messi/Ronaldo average 50 goals a season.

    Video Replay:

I won't write too much on this, but as i said it will still hardly change much. The video replay is still going to be a ref decision at the end. A certain a foul a ref may give a warning, another may give a yellow, or another may give red. They still need to look at it logically. I mean physically it may seem not a card worthy foul, but video replay won't show intentional that just depends on how a ref sees it. Sanchez/Terry last year CL is a good example Terry hardly touch Sanchez, but Sanchez went down the ref didn't look at it in a way that Sanchez went down, but rather Terry intention he did in a football match rise his knee and have contact with Sanchez. I mean even Terry admitted to committing foul after watching replay. WC10 Alonso when he got the karate kick now come on thats a red on the spot despite the ref looking at it directly he still gave only a yellow.

It still at the end will depend on the ref and intentions will always be looked at as well as foul. Pepe foul on Alves, some look at it as Alves play acted, which is true, but than the question is Pepe was still running at full speed with his cleats out and if Alves didn't jump himself (as some say), and actually wait 1 second extra don't you think he'd be injured and out for awhile? Since Pepe would have made contact at that pace and cleats out. Chelsea VS City the Ivanovic red, he slide in with two feet and cleats out not to mention he was left footed and made contact with the play with his right. This stuff is also looked at video replay will help, but ref still makes the decision.

I mean some players may just be taking advantage of no video replay, or some players may actually be getting fouled by certain player and in order to get refs attention they need to go down.

    All-Star game:

Oh your expecting a small tournament. I don't know that seem a little more impossible and have you considers Spain XI compared to the rest? lol

    Messi/Ronaldo/Benz/Higuain/Villa/Sanchez/Pedro
    Xavi/Iniesta/Ozil/Busquets/Alonso/Khedira/Fabregas
    Puyol/Pique/Ramos/Pepe/Alves/Alba/Martinez
    Casillas/Valdez

    Coach: Pep/Del Bosque/Mou

I was just expecting maybe 2 or most 4 teams and have a small tour around the world (going to one place every all star game not at once) like in Asia (Japan/China/India), Australia/S. Africa, North America (Canada/USA), and etc.

It be interesting either way, but the tournament seem to far fetched as I don't see it as a mandatory tournament/game, so we might miss a lot of key players that way with 2/4 teams we still get a star stub team.

    ...at Puyol and Pique.

And wtf is that thing on the bride's head. And Iniesta - you're short, so don't wear ties made for a man of 6 ft. xD Follow Xavi's chic style

    This one is hilarious.
I think the thing on the bride head is a cultural thing, maybe Spanish/Catalan, or perhaps a family traditional thing:shrug:

lol Xavi chic style everyone does now adays even at his wedding. I do that also

I'm surprised Hulk's transfer isn't done yet. I guess, most of these Brazilians are going to be courted by English clubs once they land in England for Olympics. Especially Lucas, Ganso and Hulk.
Well Oscar signed with Chelsea. Lucas with PSG. Hulk is still wandering, but I don't see him leaving Porto, but he wants to go to either La Liga/EPL.

SAF is angered with Lucas deal since Lucas manager sold him to PSG because he earns 7 million off of it, supposedly SAF is reporting this to FIFA/UEFA. Lucas was close to United since his manager doesn't earn anything he went somewhere else he tried Madrid and other places before PSG agreed.

SAF is still keen on getting RVP, but it seems he's a little settled now. Song is targeted by Barcelona as Keita replacement.

Madrid finally signed Modric for 25 million, Tottenham wanted 40 million for him, but Madrid went down first offering around 30 million to 25 as their last offer and they agreed. I'm not sure if Nuri is included in this deal, but in the next two weeks he will be on his way to either Liverpool/United/Aresnal/Tottenham.

    Re: General Football Debates!

Well the El Clasico super cup clash is just around the corner (tomorrow). It seems Pepe will be out/benched this game, so Barcelona don't only get home advantage, but also Pepe absence plays in our favour.

    Any prediction?

We know who Rooney son will be rooting for.
