    Itachi revised

Itachi is a man of a thousand mysteries, and has fooled the entire world (not only the naruto world, but also the fanboys here).

Like most of you know, Itachi was very close with Shisui Uchiha. Or so it appears.

    http://www.narutobase.net/manga/Naruto/222/7
Shisui was a man that would undertake any mission for his clan

    http://www.narutobase.net/manga/Naruto/222 12
Notice the police force saying: "Shisui was told to keep an eye on you".
While under normal circumstances keeping an eye on someone isn't that suspicious, but when someones eye is capable of controlling someones mind, it gets a different perspective.

My theory is that Itachi was indeed a ruthless, powerhungry guy until Shisui used his genjutsu to show him the light. (I remember Shisui being a rather peaceloving guy). The same pages also show "Itachi acting rather weird", this corrolates to the "weird" behavior by other people affected.

This could also explain how shisui activated his mangekeyo. (He betrayed his friend Itachi by using genjutsu on him) which in a way is like losing your brother...But Shisu got torn by guilt, and that's why he allowed Itachi to kill him, knowing his genjutsu had warped itachis reality the same way Itachi wanted to do to Sasuke. (See, Itachi isn't that bad, he just wanted to help Sasuke the only way he knew).

tl;dr version: Shisui used genjutsu on itachi to make him a nice guy, like itachi wanted to do with sasuke. Shisui felt guilty, and commited Consensual homicide.

Could be true, but however people try to spin it - Itachi is not a nice guy. Killing your family, friend and entire clan including innocent people can't be excused. So for whatever twisted reason he did it like for the good of the village, at the end of the day he's still a killer and nothing more.

People act like he had such a burden to bear but if he just helped his clan no blood had to be shed to begin with (assuming they didn't plan a similar mass murdering). Everyone always has a choice including Itachi.

If he didn't there would proabably be NO uchiha Or Leaf village.

If Itachi didn't kill his clan, then his Clan would've attacked The Leaf Village, and there wouldve been a war, And OTHER villages wouldve seen this as an opening to attack the Leaf, resulting in an even BIGGER War.

And the leaf AND The Uchiha would've both been dead.
Itachi made the best decision, By killing one, instead of letting the War kill both.

What would you had of done?

    Re: Itachi revised

It's a good theory, but their is a lot more to be explained and I doubt Shisui used his MS on Itachi because Edo Itachi got hit by it and did state, "So, that's how it works/looks." If he was hit by it, he wouldn't have said that.

The third tried speaking with them, I'm not really sure if any other Uchiha tried reasoning with them either but Itachi was a mere kid, he was around 13/14 years old before massacring the clan. It's not like anyone would really listen to him, but than we don't even know if he tried or didn't try speaking to them.

If we assume that he tried, but due to his young age wasn't taken to seriously in this matter. He had about 4 options as far as I can see.

    1. Join the Uchiha start war on, Konoho and have other villages attack and lose many people through both sides. Also the Kyuubi was in, Naruto who was only 8/9 years old.

    2. Fight a long side Konoho, but whats the point, same as massacring.

    3. Just stand around watch the war on a plasma screen TV.

    4. Kill the Clan for the sake of the village.

Itachi and Shisui seemed like they had the same ideals. Itachi choose to massacre the Uchiha due to the fact that he didn't want others to find out what they were planning, already we seen that due to the Kyuubi attack, how Uchiha's were treated yet a lone when they find out Uchiha are attacking what would have happened (either succeed or fail). They would either lose or even get exterminated either way with other villages attacking at the same time. It would lead to other nations joining in and taking advantage Konoho would have been taken down and maybe even the village would be completely destroyed. The Uchihas would have been taken as such bad clan, with disgraceful fate.

Itachi choose to act as the main villian to still give hopes to Uchiha. In the start many people praised Sasuke and had high hopes for him. If Itachi didn't do what he had to, I doubt Uchiha's would have either been around Konoho as they would be kicked out for even thinking of attacking the village and no one would have trust on them. The man traded his respect for disrespect/dishonor, his love for hate and so on.

The path he choose wasn't right but doesn't matter how you look at it, if that was no done, we would have been looking at a whole new manga or no manga at all, since due to this war, man others would join risking many lives and destruction of the village also the Kyuubi could have been released.

    Re: Itachi revised

Itachi has always been pacifist, because he had to fight in a war when he was 4, so I don't think he was ''power hungry''. But Shisui indeed used Kotoamatsukami on Itachi and made Itachi to kill Shisui, because that way Itachi could awaken Mangekyo Sharingan.

Kill all Uchiha, warrior or peasant, and let the village prosper; or side his clan, stage a coup d'etat, and ultimately still kill a lot of innocent people.

And how dare you desecrate Itachi's name by saying "people act like had such a burden". That is ONE HECK OF A BURDEN PAL.

Doesn't make sense. Itachi lived through the second ninja war and grew up fighting in the war as well. His pacifism was constant throughout his life stages. Shisui can only activate his ability once a decade too. So, to me, your theory is not plausible.

No, because the Kotoamatsukami belonged to Shisui, he should have been able to use it everytime he wanted.

The question that he was faced with, and this is why I find him so compelling, is how much bloodshed must be shed to prevent the greater bloodshed? The Uchia's, by Madara's admission had always had a dark side. You work with ANBU under Danzo during the formative years of pre-adulthood and tell me if your moral outlook on life doesn't get slightly warped.

But yeah, killing your parents and relatives and emotionally kneecapping your kid brother is pretty borderline.

Except that when he uses it on you, you don't even know you are being controlled, so you most likely lose all memory pertaining to his MS and everything about what happened.

No need to pal me, guy.

I'm only saying his burden wasn't THAT bad if he shared it, he tells Naruto not to do everything by himself which is exactly what he DID. If he sided with his family, told them about the mission surely there'd be LESS bloodshed then the eradication an entire clan including innocent lives like that old shop lady. The village didn't prosper at ALL from this.

    Desecrate his name? lol

    Re: Itachi revised

    I pal'd you, buddy.

It wasnt a burden he could have shared. It was his life's ultimatum, and he selected the option with the least bloodshed.

We all know hes one of the top shinobi, in terms of intelligence and battle prowess.

He would have weighted the cost of each option against its gains, and thats why he opted for the extinction of his clan. In a way, Itachi was a marxist in that he measured his actions in terms of overall benefits a society would gain as opposed to the overall consequences theyd suffer.

Ya, desecrate. Itachi died, according to the manga plot, a TRUE SHINOBI'S DEATH.
