Naruto wins, maybe if they were in a desert Gaara could stand a chance, but I still doubt that. Gaara has some good defenses, but Naruto has a wider arsenal (I know right?? Naruto having a bigger arsenal then someone??) then Gaara, and then Rasenshuriken i'm betting would demolish his defense., RIP Gaara.

Actually it was Gaara + oonoki + some shinobi from the alliance vs second mizukage, and the battlefield was a freekin desert + intel on all of the mizukage's techniques.

But gaara does get some credit because he did seal his dad and help fight muu before hand.

in my opinion Naruto takes this one... Sage mode not only enhances his jutsu but also his body so he will resist gaara's normal attacks... and his super powerful attacks require both lots of sand and more chakra...So unless they're fighting in the desert Naruto wins...
Rasenshuriken might not be enough to demolish his defense or to kill gaara in one shot but it would most certainly open a hole in his defense... And with the speed SM offers it's all Naruto needs.

Except for the fact that Gaara was fighting in the dessert... and don't take me with: he defeated 2 Kages... just because you defeated someone doesn't automatically make you stronger against someone who would loose against the one you defeated.... it just happened that his abilities were perfect to counter his enemy...
Yea he is great and all, but in a 1v1 all out battle go for the Kill Naruto wins this one... it won't be easy but he will.

Its true gaara helped oonoki and the shinobi, but the shinobi and oonoki also helped gaara. If oonoki wasn't there, gaara would not have been able to destroy the clam, and would have gotten worn out by the mizukage. If oonoki or the shinobi ninja weren't there gaara would not have known anything about the mizukage, and therefore would not have known about the clam, or the science/weaknesses of his jouki boy jutsu. And if the other shinobi's played a big part in the battle which was distracting jouki boy so gaara could deal with the real mizukage. And the shinobi aliance sensor located the mizukage so that gaara could deal with him.

I think you forget that the sand+gold is only specific to this battle since gaara's dad brought the gold there. I also noted that gaara's battle prowess increases greatly if he is in a desert, and gaara most likely cannot use sand hail in other environments. Gaara will not catch naruto quickly seeing that naruto can make kagebunshins and jouki boy is fast enough to easily dodge gaara's sand. And even if the battle took place in the desert, naruto can boss summon. And naruto can do all of this in base.

the 2 mizukage was fighting before gaara arrived, and gaara had alot of help from other ninjas. gaara couldn't have come any where near beating the mizukage without the support of the others and it's still was an extremly tough match for all of them.garra couldn't beat muu without a lot of help from onoki and naruto so how can he beat 2nd mizukage on his own? just because garras a main character and he's the one who finished him off, doesn't mean he beat them. it was a team effort. garra also has the advantage of being in a desert and he never would have beaten him without his fathers gold dust he left behind from his death.
