The summon protected most of konoha, hence why god realm pain has an exclamation mark at the 2nd to last frame, which is going to be the summon.

Ehh... the bomb hit in case you couldn't tell.. see the ginormous crater? I agree with you though, Konoha's fine. Katsuya protected at least 60% of the people within the blast zone.

I think it's possible that the messenger frog was sent to inform Ma to preform a special summoning which had been setup be one of the two former Toad masters of Konoha. A summoning technique that allows them to summon Konoha Village itself! This isn't out of the realm of possibility, the Fourth was able to reverse summon himself to a kunai by simply touching it. And he was known for planning for the worst case scenarios. So he could have constructed a plan in the event of total distruction to place marks all over the village to where he could teleport away and summon the village out of danger. Once again, worst case scenario. This could be why Pein seemed shocked and there appears to be nothing left of the village except smoke which is commonly seen when a summoning jutsu is used.

LOL omg i hate myself now, i was gonna make a thread about Gaara protecting the village against it but i was thinking and saw the center and it was pretty much blown up so im like forget it :P

There was a crater in gaaras section of the manga too, dunno, either way theyre summoning something, so i dont think the bomb did much because of that summon.

Im liking the summoning an area of the village out of harms way idea, that is a COOL THEORY!!!!!

I hope its true, that would be AWESOME.
