Don't put your work down, you really don't have any way of telling where you stand in the polls right now (I don't think many posted who they actually voted for)
Me personally, I enter for the publicity. I generally see a higher viewing of my chapters during and after the contests when I enter. Yeah I hope to place, but seeing that I'm actually acknowledged more does something for me as a writter.

We're different. I kind of like placing; being acknowledged for making a good FF. In fact, the very first time I entered, I got third. And my medals are in order, Thrid, Second, First. what were we talking about again?

Don't get me wrong, I enter with the intention (Hope) of placing...to be honest I use that [the whole acknowledgement thing] as an excuse lol. I care about it, but I always hope to place. I've entered....three contests (including this one) and haven't gotten anything yet but in the end it doesn't matter much to me, I get more comments, thanks, and reps for my works afterwards so that makes me happy :D
We were talking about so many people here, downing their FFs or feeling nervous because they feel that their titles aren't in leauge with the other contestents...to that I say, people need to show more confidence and optomism (unless they're using the whole reverse psycology thing) for their work...This is a learning experience for people.

Well, my FF's that got me placed were six chapters of the same FF (2 contests) and NB Court (my 1st place medal). As you can see, the quality of FF's are directly related to medals, as the same FF got two medals, and one of the most popular FF's ever got my first place medals. But you can always hope that yours is that good.

1; Not necessarily, but it's one of the factors, yes.
2; There are probably over 100 000 FFs in the world Dork, where is your proof of that? O___O
3; Do I sense bragging in your last statement? o__O

1 Well, you get the idea.
2 Where's your proof that it isn't
3 Not intentionally, but now that you mention it... I refuse to answer.

I honestly didn't mean to brag. When I said "that good", I meant good enough to win a medal.

Yes maybe, but you did say; "But you can always hope that yours is that good.", sort of implying that Reborn could only hope his FF would become that good:mugi:

Re: Voting: Best FanFiction [October 2011]
Well, my nervousness is really just sarcasm. People don't want to hear how I really feel about their writing. Honesty would get me disqualified from this FFotM. So I try to keep my mouth shut and just stick with satire.

I look for correct Grammar, Punctuation, Vocabulary and a natural Flow, all of these only exist in one of all the Poll Options.
The others lack multiple of these.
If you're looking at all that, you're not judging the book by its cover as you clearly opened the book. Otherwise you couldn't check for all that.

The cover being the Look of the Fiction, not the depth of the storyline.

If you're looking at grammar, punctuation, vocabulary and natural flow, then you're not looking anymore just at its looks. That would be when you watch which fonts or colors a person used, you don't even read what has been written. That's the meaning of judging a book by its cover, being extremely superficial.
However if you're checking his language into such detail then you're already passed that as you actually read the FF. You're far from being superficial.

Well regardless I will continue to write and make better chapters. This helps me see how I can improve my work. Plus I suppose I could speak english alittle better.
