Why is darkness associated with evil?
Well this day in age, it still is unfortunately. The following are statements to confirm this:
1. Black cats are superstitiously evil because they have black fur. If one crosses your path, you'll have bad luck.
2. If it is nighttime and a supposeably "shady" person is walking, jogging, or whatever and they're also wearing black clothing, then they have cruel evil intentions on there mind.
---------------------
There is a such thing as "tainted light" you know, but anyways. Why is this so? Discuss.

Re: Why is darkness associated with evil?
Light = Good
darkness = void of light
void of light = not good
not good = bad
so
darkness = bad

In certain instances yes but...
To say darkness is evil is wrong, evil can hide in it. That is why you don't see evil in light because it can not hide what it is. Darkness let your mind take flights of fancy, what is there just beyond your sight.

Re: Why is darkness associated with evil?
There are many beliefs based on myths, legends and religious beliefs. Like, the feeling is that light is a positive feeling that illuminates all positivity and lightens up your life. Light is also said to reflect the pureness in you.
Can you associate evil and devilish things with light? Nope, since their work is to do the exact contrary.
Since their work is to do the opposite, then their work is associated with darkness (the contrary of light).
In short, it is not darkness that is associated with evil, it is light that is associated as positive and good. Afterwards, it's just playing with words.

Re: Why is darkness associated with evil?
People usually associate the term "evil" with things they fear or don't understand. Some people are afraid of the dark; and that's simply bc they can't see what's within the darkness. idk if that makes sense but that's my take on it

Re: Why is darkness associated with evil?
its an expression with darkness. think about this: at daytime, you feel safer by yourself than night, due to lack of light, which brings up the term darkness. at night, which is better to help you sneak up on somebody, black clothes at night, which blends in, or super bright neon clothes that says "look at me"

No no...it makes perfect sense. Looks like those select people are in need of "dark adaptation."
It's a shame. I really do like it when it becomes nightfall. I'm so nocturnal at heart.

Re: Why is darkness associated with evil?
when we were still basic hunter-gatherers a majority of the animals that came out at night would kill us in our sleep, before we evolved enough we would fear the night because we couldn't see the threats around us well enough so we couldn't combat the animals that killed us, during the day we could. there you go.

Tomorrow, you walk in the road and you see a person at far, illuminating in white with creepy looks, will you not be afraid?
I do believe that the light-dark relation is associated in pureness, spiritual and religious believes but black cats, dark night are just superstitions which are have absolutely no proof or backup and are hence fake.
