I would imagine the first mate of the pirate kings crew was amazingly strong in his hay day. Considering shanks was a lackey on that crew, I imagine that current shanks is around the same level of prime reyleigh, but there's no way of judging unless we encounter more flash backs.

i always imagined this battle to be insane

they fight like exactly the same

-each have one disadvantage (rayleigh being old and shanks having one arm)
-each mastered 1 in a millian haki (forgot the jappanese name)
-each have a sword

if it was prime rayleigh vs current shanks most likely rayleigh

if it was old rayleigh vs both arms shanks (though this is hype) most likely shanks

im going to have to say shanks for this

oh pliz shanks would give him the fight for his life, there is a reason why shanks is one of the four( or was it three?) emperors. shanks with both arms must be crazy powerful.
