Looks: Shanks always wears a long black cape over his shoulders and, until he met Luffy, wore a straw hat obtained from his captain that he had worn for many years beforehand, and of which was synonymous with his image. He initially wore slightly loose brown trousers cut below the knee and collected halfway up the shin, with golden buttons down the outer leg. Recently he has been seen wearing a similar pair, but looser and with floral patterns on them. He wears a pair of sandals and is unshaven with a short scruffy beard. In all his appearances so far as captain of his own crew, Shanks has worn a white shirt which is only buttoned halfway, leaving his chest exposed. Around his waist is a large red sash, which also holds his sabre on the right side. Shanks also has three scars across his left eye which he reveals were a reminder of his battle with Marshall D. Teach (a.k.a Blackbeard).

Personality: Shanks is one of the most laid back characters, preferring to take his time as he and his crew travels around the world rather than rushing from one place to another. Shanks isn't cruel like many other pirate captains, nor does he rule over his crew with fear to gain respect. His friendly nature means he won't purposely seek to harm others, and he is able to make serious characters like Dracule Mihawk join in with his fun. Yet despite how simple minded he appears at first, Shanks is a complex person with some rather difficult to understand views. For example, he believes if two people share very different views, it's better they go their separate ways.
Shanks doesn't seem to mind what happens to himself; he'll take others throwing food and drink or spitting on him without fighting back and laugh with his crew at his own misfortunes. However he would never forgive anyone for attacking his friend. Shanks and his crew are almost always seen partying and drinking alcoholic beverages whenever they make an appearance, as the captain's favorite pastimes are attending and hosting parties and banquets. He also is against the idea of needless bloodshed, even if honor is involved and so far seems to only step up for a fight when a friend is in danger.Despite being calm and brave most of the time, he has displayed a side of him that likes to panic when things go wrong.

For this justu the user uses two sword in two hands or one sword in one hand and then with his other hand twirls around both in a disk type rotary motion and with that motion releases a powerful twirling wind which keeps rotating around at quick speeds and moves towards the opponent and then envelopes the opponent and then begins slashing him at all the sides at a very high speed. This wind has a powerful circular motion and therefore pulls the air from the surrounding atmosphere rapidly inward and along with the air if there is lightning spread in the surrounding air it is also pulled in and therefore any lightning in its path is nullified.
-The user needs to have mastered kenjutsu.
-This jutsu can be used 3 times in a match.
-No S rank or higher Futon for the next round.
-It can be used to carry any single body in the air.
-It can nullify most non-focused electricity and most (but not all) of the focused powerful electricity. The size of the Lightning jutsu is to be taken into account. (Kirin cannot be nullified)

Description:
For this jutsu the user makes a Ram handseal and then in the air above the opponent there starts forming a fisherman's net like structure made up of pure air once its forms it quickly falls on the opponent standing below it. This net then restricts the opponents movement and also stops him from doing any raiton jutsu since the net absorbs any lightning that leaks out. By doing another Tiger handseal the user can set the net ablaze with fire reducing the opponent to ash.
-Can be used twice per battle.
-Requires mastery of wind and fire.
-the net can be easily destroyed by B rank fire while its in the air. The trick is to notice its formation.

Description:
In this jutsu the user concentrates his Katon chakra into his sword and in a split second in which the user touches his sword hilt and draws it a little from its sheath the area all around the user erupts into voluptuous quantities of flames upto short range. The heat emanated by these flames is so hot that it chars away anything upto short range and melts all ice (below A rank) and evaporates all water (Below B rank) to short range from the user. The user of this jutsu is not affected by flames in a similar way as raikiri does not affect the person who creates it.
-Can be used thrice in a battle.
-Requires mastery of katon and kenjutsu.
-No effects beyond short range.

History: Shanks hailed from a small village on the borders of Amegakure as such he was used to war and the evils that it brought along with itself. Being an orphan shanks liked to move around from one place to another trying to make a living even in the most adverse conditions. Shanks especially liked to celebrate smallest of events and would avoid fighting as far as he could. After Years of war when the third great Ninja war had ended shanks thought he could no longer stay the way he was and knew that he had to get stronger if he had to survive in this world of hate. Shanks also sought power to protect his friends, a feat that he could not achieve in his past as he horrifically watched his friends and parents slaughtered in his childhood.
He then while travelling along the border of the Land of fire encountered a certain person who was fighting against a gang of snatchers and looked like he was cornered. As such Shanks moved almost without thinking in order to help the said person. But he need not have worried for the person was an accomplished shinobi. Within moments all the snatchers were down and Shanks could not believe what he saw with his eyes. As such Shanks approached the shinobi frightened but with determination. The Shinobi called after Shanks happily as if they knew each other for a long time. Shanks without wasting much time dives straight into the subject asking the Shinobi how he was able to get so strong to beat those people.
The person then reveals himself to be Gobi (a missing nin who had left his village in much hate and therefore was being chased around). Gobi is about to bid his farewell and move away when Shanks stops him and in a hurry asks him to become his mentor and teach him the way of the ninja. With a amused expression on his face Gobi admits himself to be in a learning process but agrees to teach Shanks a few basics of ninshu. One Year after this meeting both Shanks and Gobi parted ways. Gobi said that he had taught Shanks all he could and it was no longer desirable for him to stay with him as he (Gobi) had some things he needed to attend himself.
Two months into his travels after having parted with Gobi Shanks wasresting under a widespread tree when he met another interesting guy. The guy introduced himself as Mugen Ryuku a shinobi of the hidden leaf village and he was travelling to a distant village near the sea on a personal errand. The guy liked to drink sake all the time and was a very mysterious person as such Shanks thought about travelling with him for a while. On their way however they were cornered by Bandits but having been trained with Gobi, Shanks found it easy to take them down. But during this encounter Shanks discovered a very interesting thing. Mugen had a mastery over Lightning. Shanks asked mugen to teach him to tame lightning as well. Mugen then invited Shanks to join him on his journey to the port as he could not delay his errand by teaching shanks. Shanks agreed and started training and travelling with Mugen to this port village. Upon reaching the village Mugen parted ways with Shanks saying his work here was a secret and they needed to part ways here.
After bidding goodbye to his travelling partner Shanks entered an inn on the outskirts of the port town. Upon entering he noticed a a group of village enthusiasts huddled around a woman who seemed to be talking animatedly and the villagers would now and again burst out laughing. Shanks then ordered a large mug of his favourite sake and inquired about the woman. The owner of the inn introduced her to be LiLi Chwan a popular figure in the village for her eccentric stories and also prophecies.
Then looking around at the bar Shanks started sipping his sake with pleasure. After sometime the girl named Lili chwan approached him and both of them engaged themselves in a conversation that was rich in information. Shanks told her about the world of the shinobi how a war had started among the five ninja nations and so on (though always keeping the information general and not personal) . Whereas Shanks learned about the different world that existed beyond the seas. The world that was ruled by a powerful organisation named the World government. Then Lili ended the conversation on a note hinting that he should take up the route of the sea himself. His blood boiling with excitement Shanks accepted the offer without ado but revealed that he knew nothing about sailing and had never before in his life boarded a ship. Lili then proposed that if Shanks helped her with her work she would help him build a ship and travel with him to the far away town that marks the beginning of the great world.
After 3 months at that port village Shanks finally set sail in the sea with Lili Chwan. On his journey Shanks learned all he had to about Sailing a ship and also listened to the story about pirates whom even the great world government feared. After 6 months of his voyage on the see they finally reached the port town known as the Logue town. Here Shanks bid Lili Chwan Farewell. Shanks then took his time to move around the town and upon careful observation learned about the enormous dangers the sea held and therefore decided to go in a ship under an experienced persons command for a while. And one day while wandering around, Shanks stumbled upon a ship ready to set sail with two persons in it. One introduced himself Gol D. Roger and the other as Silvers Rayleigh. Shanks joined this ship only to later understand that Roger intended to sail through the most difficult ocean in the world "The Grand Line".

Three and a half years since they set sail Shanks returned to logue town to witness the beheading of his captain the Man who became the Pirate King Gol D.Roger. This time Shanks wore a strawhat a feature anew to when he had left the town before. This strawhat was given to Shanks by his captain under unknown circumstances but it was something that Shanks cherished very much. The world government had thought that this beheading would serve as a deterrent against the other pirates, but Roger turned the tables at the last moment and started an age that was known as the "Great Age of the Pirates".
Later Shanks continued sailing the seas this time with his own crew, a pirate crew by the name Red Hair Pirates. Shanks would also in later life come to inspire a kid who would be the one to inherit his captains will. The will of Gol D. Roger.

Description:
Narsil is the sword of the kings. Its the only one of its kind and was forged for the kings of old but was lost with fall of kings rule and the formation of the ninja villages. How Anduril came into the possession of this sword is unknown. But the sword wields just as much power as it is known to wield a legend around itself. When the user channels his Katon chakra through the sword the sword absorbs the katon chakra amplifies it and then uses it to surround the egde of the sword making it fiercely hot giving a deadly golden edge which melts the thing it makes contact with and allows the sword to cut through almost anything. The user when channels his katon chakra through the sword in the exact amount its edges begin to glow gold and then the sword attains the sharpness that can pierce the densest of armors except diamond hard substances.
-The sword can cut through any B rank or below (elemental) jutsu with ease.
-The user cannot use any Forbidden rank Katon technique in the same round that he uses the sword in.
-The sword remains strapped to the users back.
-If anyone other than Anduril touches the sword he gets zapped with a very high electrical discharge.
-The swords ability to cut through B rank and below jutsu will count as one of the three moves of that round.
