Hiruzen has a small goatee and short spiked hair, both being white. He has three lines running vertically under each eye, though when he was younger he only had one under each eye. He wears the official Kage uniform as one of the only two kages to every do this. He has taken on smoking a pipe from time to time.

When he is in combat he wears a black jumpsuit with grey shoulder armour, a gauntlet on his right arm, a konoha forehead protecter bandanna with long straps and mesh armour underneath his clothing. The Kanji for “Third Hokage” is inscribed on the back of his outfit, and he has two shuriken holsters strapped to either side of his back. Though after he retired as Hokage, the inscribtion on his bac, changed to “Fire”.

Personality:

Due to the quite long life he had, Hiruzen has become a source of wisdom, passing on the things he had learned to the next generation. As the Hokage he has a habit of attempting to end things peacefully, and always tries to avoid bloodshed amongst allies and enemies.
Naruto became very fond of Hiruzen, looking at him almost as a grandfather-figure.
Hiruzen loves his students deeply, no matter how far they would fall. This is proven as of one of his former students, Orochimaru, had fallen, yet he could not bring himself to kill his student, because he loved him so much.
Even though his standing as Hokage, he seemed to have some sense of Lecherousness in him, as he spents much of his time talking to young girls which is his favorite pastime. When Jiraiya was his student, he offered to help Jiraiya test the technique that would allow the user to spy on naked women unnoticed. Even Jiraiya, in this instance, noted his sensei’s perverted qualities.

Description: This jutsu allows the user to take a small chunk of rock and turn it into the shape of a staff. The user can then use it as a weapon or throw it with pinpoint accuracy at their opponent. A variation of this jutsu allows the user to create several staffs and launch them at the target, but with less accuracy.

Abilities:

Hiruzen Sarutobi is one of the most powerful shinobi in history. He is so powerful he is admired as the God of Shinobi (Shinobi no Kami) in his prime. According to a few shinobi, he was said to be the strongest Hokage that Konoha ever had as well as the strongest Kage of his era.
This is reinforced by Kabuto who considered him the strongest of the Kages. His own summon Enma also commented on his last battle with Orochimaru, saying that it was “miserable” compared to his prime, even though he could clearly hold his ground against Orochimaru and the 1st & 2nd Hokages. Even though he is old, his chakra is noted to be very strong, causing a dense effect on the atmosphere when released; he is also known for having immense revserves of chakra.

Hiruzen was also called The Professor (Purofessa) due to his mastery of all forms of shinobi combat, and his vast knowledge of techniques, purportedly knowing all the techniques within Konoha. One of his techniques was shown as the Roof Tile Shuriken, he could launch nearby tiles at an opponent with varying intensities. By throwing a single shuriken at an opponent, he can create a thousand clones of it in an instant to surround the opponent, making it extremely difficult for the enemy to avoid them. This also means he does not need to stock up on shuriken.
Hiruzen Sarutobi is also highly skilled in elemental ninjutsu, using Fire and Earth Release. Fire Release: Fire Dragon Flame Bullet, allows him to exhale a stream of fire from his mouth. Earth Release: Earth Flow River created a river of mud beneath the opponent to throw them off balance. As he is well versed in both Fire and Earth Release, he could combine fire and earth techniques and make them even more powerful.
He is also known for his personal summon; Monkey King: Enma, who is capable of turning into a diamond-hard staff, which can alter its length and width at will, or become a cage to protect the summoner. Hiruzen has also shown great proficiency in wielding the staff. Enma can also manifest parts of his body, attacking an enemy with his fangs and claws, which would be an element of surprise.
Hiruzen has also displayed a very high level of Taijutsu in old age. He was able to counter both Hashirama and Tobirama in close combat, even though they were resurrected in their prime, by Orochimaru. Even though his sight was taken from him, he was able to defend himself and defeat the 1st and 2nd hokage.

History:

Introduction Arc:

Two men reported to Hiruzen, that Naruto Uzumaki had vandalized the Hokage monument. He also participated in the Academy graduation test, telling Iruka that they needed to talk and they were talking later about Naruto. Before the graduation, Hriuzen instructed a large group of shinobi to stop and capture Naruto, for stealing the scroll of seals. Hriuzen observed the whole incident, including Mizuki revealing his intentions – from a crystal ball.
After Naruto graduated, he criticized Naruto’s ninja registration picture, though he fell victim to Naruto’s Sexy technique. He was then unsuccessfully assaulted by Konohamaru Sarutobi, who is his grandson. Afterwards he watched the match between Naruto and Ebisu.




A few days later he was talking to the Konoha Jounin that would soon be assigned their genin cell. He told Kakashi Hatake that he would be leading Team 7. He then visited Naruto’s apartment, and pointed out the expired milk and more, giving Naruto trouble after drinking.
Afterwards he showed Iruka, a book of the number of trainees that Kakashi failed. Iruka just stared in the book in shock, when he saw, that no genin team assigned under Kakashi has ever got a passing mark.

Chuunin Exam Arc:

Hiruzen was there consulting the Jounin about their descision to register their Genin into the upcoming Chuunin Exam. Kakashi deemed his students, Naruto, Sasuke and Sakura worthy.
After Anko was assaulted by Orochimaru, who left a message for him, he tried to ease Anko’s pain from the cursed seal.




After the second portion of the exam, he congratulated all the genin who passed, and explained the next round. Then he witnessed the preliminary rounds of the final matches, only to tell the advancing genin about the challenge and their training.
Then as one of the examiners was murdered, Hiruzen suspected Orochimaru for killing him.
Despite this event, he decided to carry on the Chuunin Exams as normal. After his decision, he departed for some air some seconds later to head to the Hokage Monument. There he gave a speech to the Academy students about what it really means to be a shinobi. When the time of the third portion of the exam comes, Hiruzen was present on a stadium as one of the judges. He welcomed the Fourth Kazekage who really was impersonated by Orochimaru.

Invasion of Konoha Arc:

When the invasion began, Hiruzen was taken by the Kazekage, who revealed himself as Orochimaru and a power demonstration began. Orochimaru had planned the infiltration of the village and planned its destruction so he could kill his former Sensei, Hiruzen Sarutobi and kidnap Sasuke Uchiha. When the battle began, Orochimaru resurrected Hashirama and Tobirama, so Hiruzen could feel the enjoyment of fighting his former masters. Hiruzen quickly resovled to kill his masters and used his most powerful moves against them. He then summond Enma to free him from Hashirama’s wood release, Hiruzen was unable to defeat them, since they would simply regenerate. He was further desired to not hurt Orochimaru. Orochimaru’s presence also impeded Hiruzen’s fight, as seeing how monstrous his treasured student had become broke his heart.
