Tobi isnt the bad guy. He wants peace for everyone and that´s the only way to get peace... maybe he has to kill some people but when you want real peace there has to be some sacrificing...
Naruto cant do anything about peace! People will still hate eachother, he cant control the whole world... there will always be hate and love = ying yang principle

That´s my view of Naruto and Tobi.

We fight, we die, all in vain. That's the nature of our existence. What makes life worth living is that we ENDEAVOR to IMPROVE OURSELVES. In a world where our endeavors are useless, it is pointless to live. That is the truth of it.

Sure, in time, there would be more wars. At that point, the cycle resets itself. Hatred is reborn and breaks the threshold. Again, the people must endeavor to improve their world. That is the cycle, and as I said before....If free will were to be eliminated, life itself would cease to have meaning. Our endeavors are all we have, after all......

tobi's idea of peace is basically to rule with an iron fist, perhaps not quite as tyrannical because he wouldn't be harming others physically but the fact that he would place the people of the world under an everlasting illusion means that he's just controlling everyone. furthermore the fact that they don't even realize it just shows how little tobi really cares about peace, i mean the guy is trying to mind**** the entire world. if you ask me thats not peace, i agree that true peace is difficult to achieve and in the real world it may in fact be unattainable but naruto will find a way to unite his world, and in my oppinion tobi is indirectly helping the cause, i mean he's already brought all of the shinobi villages together against himself by declaring war. the world is basically half way there now

Tobi's ideal "peace" is almost the same as the common dystopian setting in novels such as George Orwell's 1984. The population is made to be ignorant, so they live "happy" lives. This is not true at all, and true happiness comes from the ability to make choices and shape the outcome of your life. Tobi's ideal happiness is even worse than this, and we still don't know if there are other motives behind it. Sun Tzu said it best, "All warfare is based on deception". Naruto's peace is also very ignorant and innocent. It is almost impossible to not have conflict and maintain self-interests.

Actually he killed lots of people. Yes, his goals are honorable but the extremity of his ways in achieving this goal is what makes him bad.

Peace can't be achieved in RL as well as in Naruto's world. That's just that.

I don't think he's the typical 'evil' villain though, he seems more cold than he does evil or sadistic. As in, he doesn't seem to take pleasure in fights or killing opponents in the same sense say Orochimaru did, he just goes about it like business and doesn't waste time.
