Two Worlds, Chapter 3: The Mystery of Nirvana
“Nir-Nirva-“Johnny was interrupted by Angel’s warning. “Watch it!” Angel yelled while flying into the air to evade the tail of the dragon. Johnny never got a chance to fully look to his left, with his gaze now upon the sky; he was skidding along the asphalt. His cold metal now burning as sparkles began to fly, carving a path along the ground. He tried his best to dig his hands into the earth, but failed to get a grip at the speed he was traveling. Drills ejected from his back and plowed their way into the ground, it was like being in the middle of a construction site for Johnny. His hands quickly shifted from trying to cling to the ground to grasping his head. As the inside of his shell trembled, he loathed the presence of those twirling tornadoes that was uprooting the land. The earthquake in Johnny’s head made him wish he just die already.
After he came to a stop, and the drills retreated back into his body. He rolled over on his stomach, and then pushed himself up with his arms, moving very slowly. “Watch your back!” Angel screamed. Johnny turned around to see the palm of the dragon bearing down on him from above. He was most certainly determined not to die with his last view being this ugly gigantic foot, as it seemed to blot out the beauty of the night sky. His right arm transformed into a bazooka, and out of it came a sound that drowned all noise of the night. The dragon drew back his attack as soon as his foot felt the pain of Johnny’s missile. By the time the explosion cleared, Johnny was already gone.
The dragon searched its surrounding area with cold and alert eyes, failing to find Johnny; he fixed his stare on Angel. She was hovering in the sky, and had been observing everything. “Come at me!” Angel yelled at the dragon, while gesturing with her hands “to bring it”. The wings of the beast started batting, its growl was ferocious and mean. Before the dragon so much as managed to get a foot off the ground, its sight became blocked with fire and smoke. Loud coughing rode the winds, and anger began to swell up within the monster. It soon felt another menacing pain in its right side; it quickly looked to see the culprit of its turmoil. Johnny was standing with his bazooka aimed at the dragon, and his left hand holding onto the muzzle of the weapon for better accuracy.
The dragon’s hatred began to grow even deeper for Johnny, seeing him stand there with such confidence made it roar out; only the wrath of fire can express the resent toward him. Johnny looked into the black hole that the dragon formed with its mouth. He began to hear the sound of a pot boiling over in the belly of the beast, the air turned hotter, and that deep dark void brightened; and every detail inside its mouth was revealed to Johnny.
Johnny saw the fire that came out crying for escape, he quickly dashed to his left to escape that volcano. He was surprised by the speed of the dragon, which closed its mouth and followed Johnny with its right hand, with every intention on tearing him to pieces. Johnny quickly stopped in his tracks, and hopped backwards, dodging the swing. He let another missile fly to the face of the dragon; it soon became a display of skills that Johnny had come to possess. Angel watched from the sky as Johnny was swiftly dodging the dragon left and right, tagging it in the face with his missiles. Angel giggled at the sight before her; the once scary dragon was now nothing more than an angry kitten.
Johnny quickly realized that he wasn’t doing enough damage to this dragon to keep it down permanently. While he was running circles around this behemoth, an idea popped into his head. He slid on his feet; his arms spread wide open, and brought himself to a halt. As the dragon was coming around with another attack, Johnny quickly created distance by leaping backwards. Once the dragon realized Johnny was out of reach, it opened its mouth to let out the flames of hell. The dragon felt something new this time instead, within the lasts few seconds of its life. Its tongue grew hot, the roof of its mouth melted; and piercing pain was felt throughout the exit of that deep cave. Its massive teeth now reduced to shards; penetrating all areas of that deafening horn. Its vision was reduced to one color, as darkness filled its eyes. The weakened legs could no longer bear the weight of the mountain that it was supporting. Johnny watched it fall to the ground, with his bazooka still aimed. “As I thought, inside its mouth is its Achilles’ heel.” Johnny said, letting down his weapon as it changed back into an arm.
With his back hunched over, hands rested on his thighs and his head down, He yelled out. “Angel!” She looked at him and smiled, “Questions right?” She said as she began to descend from the sky. Before she had that chance, she heard the batting of wings close behind her. She turned around to see five more dragons with bloodlust in their eyes. Each one flew past her swinging and biting, she used her speed to evade their attacks. “H-How?!” Angel yelled in surprise. “That hole!” Johnny said, pointing to where their little friend made its entrance earlier. They began turning around for another assault on Angel. She drew back her wings for an attack of her own, to her surprise; they all headed for Johnny. He wasted no time, with his back now facing the dragons; escape was the only thing on his mind. The dragons were neck and neck with Johnny, when his feet suddenly divorced the earth, and the land below him became diminutive in size.
Johnny looked up to see Angel, who had her arms wrapped under his and was holding on tight. His legs were dangling in the air while Angel struggled with his weight. “I feel so uncool.” Johnny said in a most dried tone. Angel chuckled, “You’re going to have to do something about your weight, and they’re catching up with us.” Angel stated while glancing behind her. “What am I supposed to do?” He said while sounding confused. “You may not have noticed, but your transformations are related to your feelings. In other words, you were responsible for each of them.”
“I was?!” Johnny asked in amazement. “Yes you were, and for that reason, I’m about to drop you.” Angel said while closing her eyes, as if she was feeling guilty for what she was about to do. “Telling me makes it even worse!” Johnny screamed, “I wanted you to know just in case you die.” She said while loosening her grip. “Wai-“Before Johnny had the chance to beg for his life, his body had already started changing. Johnny’s arms hid in his body, replaced by the wings of a jet. His legs crisscrossed and became one piece to form the fin, out of that ejected the rudder and engine. Angel landed on the body of a headless Johnny, and watched as the pointed nose exploded from that empty hole to complete the aircraft.
Angel laid down flat and gripped the wings of Johnny with her life, she looked up to see a building, and thoughts of crashing into it flooded her mind. She began imagining that horrible scene, and it made her body tingle as she shuddered at the thought of it. “Johnny!” She cried out. She felt the insides of her body shift to one side as Johnny abruptly changed direction. She wasn’t allowed anytime to recover as he dodged and weaved around buildings, nearly losing control at times. “This isn’t going to work!” Angel shrieked, “I can hardly hang on, not to mention we’re going in the wrong direction. Give me something that I can take control of.” She said while losing a grip on one of the wings, and then grasping back onto it. “I don’t know—“Johnny’s words ceased as he was now getting dangerously close to landing inside a tower. “We’re going to die!” She shouted as she closed her eyes. Johnny’s body went into another transformation, when she peaked, she saw shimmers of black. The profile of this shiny armor was that of a bike, blue flames bellowed from this monster. She quickly understood, grasping hold of the handles, she rode the motorcycle up the steel tower; leaving fire in its wake.
She then spread her wings and pulled back on the bike, and detached it from the building. Upon release from the tower, she felt the coolness of the night air caress her soft skin. She felt her blood running throughout her entire body as she fell upside down on the bike; she closed her eyes to enjoy that defining moment. After she spread her wings, she flipped the bike over, stopping it in midair; with the power of her wings. “Congratulations.” She said as Johnny took off at full speed.
“Angel, what is this place?” Johnny asked, “It’s still a mystery, but for some unknown reason, species from our world have been getting transported here. And it seems it have been going on for years, millions, maybe even billions.” Johnny stopped the bike, as Angel kept it in the air with her wings. “Wait! Are you saying that dragons actually existed? Not only that, but they never were extinct?!” Angel closed her eyes, and gripped the handles of the motorcycle tighter, signaling to Johnny to continue on. “Yes I am, and there are even more species here that science dubbed nonexistent. Furthermore, it’s only been recent since us children have been getting taken.”
“Angel, what exactly is going on here?”
