It's quite different. If Kishi can improve the state of things now (though it will be difficult) then I'll retract my statement. Honestly I'm so sick of Kabuto. I wish he'd just die already

I guess the reason being is that his past's theme is somewhat overused; a sad and depressing history led him to what he is now. Come on, Kishi, give it a rest :/ We've got/had that with Naruto, Sasuke, Nagato/Pain, Sasori, Tsunade and to some extent Itachi, Orochimaru, Danzo, Jiraiya, Kakashi and many, MANY more. You've got to agree even a little.

I'm just not feeling it with Kabuto's past. I don't feel sorry or moved even a bit. It wasn't like when Nagato told his story; that was truly poetic. Moreover, I think I speak for everyone when I ask the question: IS TOBI THE ONLY BAD GUY IN THE ENTIRE SERIES WHO'S JUST PLAIN EVIL?!

I mean it's fine to have some villains who started off normal but go corrupt during the course of life, but where's the villain who's completely evil? Without reason? Pure deceiving and conniving? Every good story needs one — take The Joker for example. It's him who made The Dark Knight an epic story.

Feel free to add your own opinions; I was simply giving mine.

Oh how people complain over free entertainment. I'm actually glad to see these flash backs. I honestly can't wait to see Madara's flash backs as well. Don't get me wrong, I want to see some more fighting too but back stories are always good as well.

It wasn't directed at you. But there are those who wants nothing but non stop action like this is dragon ball z or something. Kishi is trying to actually flesh his characters out so I can understand why we are now getting Kabuto's back story since he very well may die here. Just like it did with Nagato.

And yes, that's true. While it's fine to give an opinion or even a light complaint, I've seen countless people create actual threads, raging about how "da manga suxx", cursing and all. Now that goes quite far.

most people have some form of tragic past, they are ninja they arent suppose to have memories of running through fields of daisies holding hands and smiling that would be boring. This flashback is needed to explain his mysterious past just get over it and be patient. It soon get back to more fighting its not worth moaning about.

Who's moaning? I was just giving my opinion, that's all.

And yes, they are ninja but the "tragic back-story" is one that's been used too often. It saps out real villainy from Kabuto and just makes him seem as another one gone astray due to sad events. Don't get me wrong, it's fine and all, but it's been used quite a lot in this series that's starting to lose it's feel.

I don't think you can give constructive criticism at this point (you can always criticize, of course :-)). It's too early and you don't know where Kishi is leading the story.

I believe that Kabuto's back story will be critical to understanding the motives for his upcoming actions, and therefore to how the story evolves. Just like Nagato's back story was needed to explain why he attacked the Leaf so brutally, and then decided to revive the dead, even at the cost of his life.

Kabuto is far more important to the plot than Nagato. He's been there since book 1 - in fact he was the first major villain, and I would not be surprised if he outlasts Tobi. I for one am very glad that we are finally learning who and what he is. The reason that his story leaves you (and me) indifferent emotionally is because Kabuto's character isn't designed to garner sympathy! He is this cold expressionless cynical killer that one just can't relate to, because he does not relate to people at all, except as tools or obstacles. Compared to him, even Tobi and Orochimaru are passionate social guys...
Nevertheless, he is one of *the* major characters, and the only one (other than Tobi) that we knew almost nothing about till now. Time to change that, even if it delays the war resolution by a few weeks - it will make it all the more satisfying later.

Nah, have to disagree with you on that one. We learned early in the story that Kabuto had always been a spy in several countries and that this left him with identity problems. Now Kishi is just picturing the past. The only thing we might learn from it is his motive and that's the interesting part gotta agree with you on that one.

Although tragedy is a common theme, how each character reacts to it is what makes things interesting. Love also is a transformative force in naruto. Kushina & Minato's love for Naruto & the leaf village led to their choices, which were both tragic & loving at the same time. When everything us revealed to us, we get that ”OHHHH” moment. I think the backdrops are nice because a mysterious character is revealed to us, letting us empathize or at least know the reasons we don't like the character. For example, knowing Danzo's history & his subsequent choices reaffirms what a selfish **** he was.

Many people with agree with your take on it. But then we may get some other missing details in the story of Danzou, Oro and Tobi.

His story is not moving so far because he came off as desperate while trying to co relate himself with Uchiha brothers somehow. It appeared to be a lame strategy to convince Sasuke to support him.

It maybe that somewhere deep down Kabuto really wished for some kind of correlation. Seeing his loneliness and confusion and part of his back story, it's not surprising that he found traces of it and tried to hold on to it.

Nagato also tried to correlate with Naruto and asked him to cooperate as a fellow Jiraiya student. Many people made fun of his tale when he was telling his back story of his pains- especially the second one..the death of his dog... >_<

It was only after he used his last strength to revive Konoha at the cost of his death while he could have used that power to catch Naruto, people started to respect him.
