I don't think you can give constructive criticism at this point (you can always criticize, of course :-)). It's too early and you don't know where Kishi is leading the story.

I believe that Kabuto's back story will be critical to understanding the motives for his upcoming actions, and therefore to how the story evolves. Just like Nagato's back story was needed to explain why he attacked the Leaf so brutally, and then decided to revive the dead, even at the cost of his life.

I agree completely, but I think The Dark Moon is arguing that not every villain should have a motive, per se; some should just be crazy and go about wreaking havoc just for the lulz (i.e., the Joker). Personally, I prefer the former -- villains who actually have a reason (besides mental illness) for acting the way they do. In other words, villains that normal people can relate to on some level. Generally, these are the types that fall into the stereotype that The Dark Moon is criticizing.

We had crazy villains like the Joker - Deidara and Hidan fit the bill perfectly...

Kabuto can't be in that category, because he is too cold and calculating. I also don't think he'll follow in Nagato's footsteps and try to do good at the end. I think that Kabuto's backstory will show the reason for his slavish admiration of Orochimaru and why he took on his life goals. But I just can't see him turning against his mentor.

If they are showing such an extensive flashback, it probably means curtains for Kabuto, so all you saying he will survive are wrong, lol. Flashback=death of the character.

For some reason I found Kabuto a lot more interesti g in part 1.
He could've had his flashback back then.
This flashback obviously has nothing that could'nt have been included in there, except perhaps Danzou.

IMO these flashbacks and the fact that every villain has a history that has brought him to commit the crimes he is committing makes the series much more realistic and more believable. If you look through RL history, all of the major 'Villains' had a goal or something that made them do what they did, no one is Evil and no one is Good. We just act in different ways to different events. This can be seen in comparison with Naruto to every other villain. Naruto went through a lot as a child but picked the path of good, while the villains picked the path of bad.
