      C++ anyone?

      I was just curious if anyone codes in C++/C#. I am an avid coder, was just hoping to have some conversations about the subject. I have been coding for about 2 years. So yeah, i'm classified as a game software programmer. So lets chat Yeah lol

      C++ and C# do not go hand in hand. C# is a C derivative at best (not to mention it's limited to Windows/.NET CLR). C++ is a subset of C. C++ is more related because it's commonly known as C with classes.

      Also, no offense, but programming for two years doesn't nearly qualify you as a game programmer.

      Re: C++ anyone?

      Umm no but the BS degree i am receiving does. So yeah, flame somewhere else. And i was asking if anyone has coded in C++ or C#. Two of my favorite languages. They are easily manipulated. And for your information i am currently working on a game for a company right now as head programmer. So yeah next time you try to prove that you know something, you should really try and figure out what the person is talking about. I have worked with more programmers that have been in the industry of computers than you probably ever have. Not to mention i have worked on an award winning game, just throwing that out there to make you realize you don't know me as well as you think you do sir.

      Re: C++ anyone?

      Well.... TBH, any 14 year old or less with a brain could code ... Not really needing a degree. I remember when I started I didn't have a degree. You start at low levels but really, when you actually get to college to "Learn" it, normally your only there to get that piece of paper saying, HEY!, this guy can code.

      The question that I want to ask, and someone who knows within the industry is this:

      1. You coded in C++ // C# for 2 years?
      2. If so, you've worked on an award winning game?
      3. Then involved in another?

      I am just asking because, creating a game is almost like film. Film behind the scenes takes a really long time before shooting, then comes editing, then voicing, etc.....
      Games takes a while to develop, so were you on the main developmental team?
      Or was outsourced to code some specific things through some company?

      I'm just asking :shrug:

      The game I worked on wasn't a AAA title. Those are games that take massive teams and a huge amount of documents that make harry potter look like a dr suess book. But there uis a major difference between coding and game based coding. Regular coding yes can be done by any jackoff with a computer. But the ideals behind making a game is. Whole lot different. The way you go about structuring the games in code is a mass process of annoyance usually. But the game I won award on was just a college level indie game. We had a panel of judges as well as other college students and the internet play our game. And we took peooles choice as well as first place. The team I am with now if for an app game series for a company called arm the animals. Righ now we are just inin pre production. And just as a side note that piece of paper that says you can code allows you to get paid a good amount of money. So inmy opinion sounds like a great piece of paper to own.

      You must of implied my whole post as to tryign to put you in a negative spot light or something. Actually I was sorta defending your states from that other guy. I guess i should of qouted him or something, however, thought that was uneccessary.

      Anyways, Yes I do know that it takes an incredible amount of people to develop a game in that magnitude. The difference? Takes a few people/leaders to know what they need to do, then distribute sections within their group/team. thats how most goes anyways, Then you got the designers, the story tellers/script writers and blah blah blah too much to go into.

      As far as the college degree statement, I wasn't trying to get on you about having your degree nor was i saying something negative about it. I have one, and I have a career to go with it, so i'm thankful I got that education[paper] and have already paid off my loans. However with the experiance that i had, you learn a bit more, not much if your an avid coder from school, you get to go to ethics class and shit like that as you need to. Maybe learn something else on top of it. But in the CS/CE/SE world, most of the time your there to network. Starts with freshman year, through year 4 or 5(depends on the program/school)

      Thats all i was saying really ~_~

      Oh. Now I feel like a douche. I was implying that you were making a negative response. The other guys comment got me pretty heated towards the subject. didn't ean to come off as a dixk. My apologies. What degree do you have and what school did you attend if you don't mind me asking?

      Omg I had a whole game ctash because of a missing simicolon in my FOR>WHILE>if statement. It through the code into overdrive and spun it into an infinite loop. It had me stumped for over an hour. And my instructor found it highly amusong. >_>

      it's really the samething.

      Just that when your coding with Java, it just feels more restrictive. Like it feels like you have no freedom and bound by some rule but it really is not.

      C++ is like well what you wanna code? just code it! feels like no restrictions and bounds

      i don't know just my opinion

      I feel the same about java. It is a horrible environment. My instructors won't even use it. Almost everyone I know uses cpp or c#. Plus it's a lot of fun to code in cpp and c# compaired to everything else. I myself really wanna master python and lua. Both great gaming languages.

      Apple is a pointless system. All ig is good for is design. They are over priced. Me and apple have never gotten along. Not to mention in order to build anuthing as far as apps for apple you have to use an apple product. Or you have to mod the **** out of your pc. They are not vercitile like the pc is. But that is just my opinion. I know a lot of people who prefer appke over pc. To each there own.
