Jiraiya vs Itachi: The Final Battle

Itachi: Healthy like he is/was against Kabuto, but not edo




Jiraya: Healthy

No tech restrictions, It is a shinobi battle to the death.

With Izanami explained, both combatants have shown all their techniques so we can finally decide who would win this age-old battle.

I believe that this is one of, if not the closest match-up that you can have in the Naruto Universe.

I go with J-man because of his experience and durability. I believe that they will be so close that it will become a battle of attrition with Jiraiya outlasting Itachi.

Tsukuyomi is countered by Jiraiya's Shoulder Toads if he's in Sage Mode.

Amaterasu can be countered with Sage Mode at least, it is fairly self-evident when it's about to be used and Nagato had no trouble detecting it. Even if Jiraiya can't sense anything in Sage Mode (which is not confirmed) Fukasaku and Shima definitely can.

Another way to counter Amaterasu (in Sage Mode, and possibly even out of it) would be to form a Giant Rasengan and simply rush towards Itachi. Senpo: Rasengan is probably powerful enough to at least DAMAGE Susano'o steadily, and if Amaterasu is used ON the Rasengan, well, let's just say that the most powerful fire tech in the Narutoverse in combination with a whirling ball of death seems to be enough to pierce just about ANY defense.

Senpo: Goemon (the oil sea thing) is apparently at least TWICE as hot as LAVA (thousands of degrees). It could probably chew through Susano'o without much trouble at all.

Toad Song ends the battle.

Yomi Numa can be used to ambush, trap Itachi even while he's not in Susano'o (Nearly guaranteed to hit while he is inside it, which would accomplish something similar to Gaara's sand pulling someone out of Susano'o), or even to find a safe place to gather Natural Energy.



That said, Itachi is equally capable of winning this (which is why I voted for both), but as you all already know his techniques I focused on Jiraiya's.

Also, Izanami is only effective on those "not true to themselves" which means Jiraiya DEFINITELY wouldn't be affected by it. It seems to me that Itachi succumbing to his own technique seems more likely that THAT. (He did pretend to be a violent maniac for most of his life, which he wasn't, so...)

My heart says Jiraiya. My mind says that Kishi won't allow Itachi to lose.

Itachi isn't as mobile as Jiraiya, who can sink through any floor, wall, ceiling or other surface in an instant. And he can sink Itachi through said surface as well, as a trapping maneuver.

I have already mentioned several effective tactics and techniques both before and after SM is activated.

In the Databook they both have 35, 5. The problem is that Jiraiya's weakness is the Genjutsu. I say this is a draw.

In Sage Mode, genjutsu isn't a problem unless Itachi can take out all three Sages at once, two of which (at least) can fight perfectly well with their eyes closed.

Sharingan can forsee this, remember? Itachi has way better chances to take down Jiraiya and his summon with Amaterasu, than Jiraiya to take down Itachi.

What manga pages "state" that Itachi>SM Naruto? I know there aren't any and you're a massive Itachi fan but if I'm correct Itachi ain't the one who kicked all 6 paths to next week effortlessly by blitzing them all and fodderizing them with 1 hit each.

This is one of those fights that can go either way. Whatever knowledge Jiraiya/Itachi have on the other, as well as the starting distance will doubtlessly play a role in who wins. As well as if Jiraiya starts in Sage Mode or not.
