The Bible:D
But as for an answer your looking for, The Odyssey in up there. Man, Greek Mythology is awesome. But, I'm only 17 and not that intelligent. So, I'm starting with a teenage level Greek Mythology book "Percy Jackson and the Olympians". I'll read The Odyssey when I'm older and wiser

Re: Greatest achievement in literature
I'd would go with some of the works listed:
Tao Teh Ching
Leaves of Grass
The Mountains of California
Faust
Divine Comedy
Paradise Lost
Hamlet
Tao of Jeet Kune Do
Just to name ... or rename a few

By the Stranger, do you mean the Outsider by Camus or another work ?

I agree with those bolded, and must add two books, Anna Karenina - Tolstoy and the Idiot - Doestovsky, perhaps the Brothers Karamazov aswell.

Just had a test on Hard Times .-. His narrative style is a bit annoying to be honest, but his satirical style keeps me happy.

Re: Greatest achievement in literature
I think the art of war is worth being on the list. I also recon more contemporary titles like Lord of the Rings + The Hobbit, and Harry potter are worthy of being included as great literature, but it depends on what your definition of literature is.
