Re: [DISCUSSION] Legend of Korra - Season Finale

Well, I loved the finale, it did seem a little rushed, but that's the feel I got from every episode of Korra... I'm surprised to see so many people whining how it's not as badass as they expected, I seriously don't know what kind of stuff you people watch if this wasn't badaass. Not to mention it was only a season finale not a finale of the show O.o I loved the story about Tarllok and Noatak , it was sad in every way-from their messed up childhood with Yakone, to their final scene... I don't think Noatak necessarily knew Tarllok would blow them up, I think that last tear was caused by his overwhelming emotions....

I love how Korra didn't use avatar state to save the day, that would be so lame and obvious and was something we all expected to happen-that in the moment Amon tried to take away her bending she would have slipped into avatar state and defeated him with her awesome avatar powers... No, instead , she was shown as a real, vulnerable human as the rest, but with a little more skill and power... Of course Aang would restore her bending- I mean it is logical for her to slip into the avatar state, as Aang said, while being at her lowest, that's how Aang's emotions often led him to use the state too... And of course he would return her the powers and insert the knowledge into her...that's what the past Avatars are for-to guide the new one... xD

I was actually cheering for Mako and Asami but I'm glad at least that whiny, shipping stuff is finally over O.o

The only disappointing stuff for me is that Katara would be so ignorant in the matters of Avatar, she spent her whole life with Aang, she lived the situation when his chakra path was severed and she didn't try to advise Korra to get in touch with her spiritual self to find the way to restore her powers O.o That was in a way, unrealistic, but I guess they didn't want to spoil the scene with Korra an Aang )

Oh gosh, what do you people think will happen in the next season ?? I guess we'll find out what happened with Zuko's mom, maybe we'll get to meet Sokka's kids or grandkids, maybe Kya ?? xDD

Re: [DISCUSSION] Legend of Korra - Season Finale

i love how general iroh was a massive fail he led his team in acting all cool going something is not right and then boom all his fleet was taken out and just like that he was apart of team avatar and then he walked into that electric fence thing i was expecting something close to the season 1 ending of the legend of aang but instead of fire benders fighting water benders its the untied nations fighting off the anti bender people. i Guess it was all right considering the amount of time they had to work with but felt like they could of done more or done it differently they should of ended the season on a cliff hangar i wonder what season 2 will be about considering they tied everything up.

and why is it that katara is the only past generation present what everyone else some how passed away but her.

they can at least try and punch out a hell of a season 2 and fixing some of the legend of Aangs loose ends while still doing a good show

it's said that zuko left the throne to her daughter without dying himself 3 years ago. so he's probably still alive.

    OT:
first of all I liked Iroh. even though he failed against the first air-force he took some of them down. and I liked the way that he was thrown off to the sea.

but what I liked the most was that Iroh was able to fly using firebending.
in ATLA flying could only be done with the power of sozin's comet. azula was able to alter her course but couldn't fly at whim. (she was able to launch herself to air and while in free-fall she was able to move horizontally but she wasn't able to fly however she liked) but Iroh was able to do more than altering his course.

just as it was Iroh who was my favourite character in ATLA, Iroh is also my favourite character in ATLOK

mako on the other hand was able to deal the first blow to amon as we know. his lightning trick was pretty amazing I liked that. but I hated that korra and mako are now together. I would've wanted it to be bolin&korra

glad that we saw bumi. and to know that he's very familiar with "bumi"
also glad that bolin can't bend metal. for once we see that metal is really high level.
also glad that we saw the past avatars once again. and this time all of them looked clearer than the ones we saw in ATLA. aang looked badass standing in front of the every avatar with roku and kyoshi behind him

amon failed hard. I too think he was badass and all but he should've been able to do better.

all in all I give the entire season 9/10. just because eveything went so fast. aside from that it was amazing. not as amzaing as ATLA though which was 10/10

FINALLY! Someone who understands how I feel. I'm so disappointed in Bry for dragging out shipping to the finale, and I really don't want to see it in Book 2. It just might stop me from watching it.

He wouldn't hate all benders. It would be a ploy most likely to get people on his side. It's sort of like politics I guess. You pick out something which a lot of people don't like, you stick up for it and people will soon follow. Amon says he doesn't like benders, sticks up for the non-benders and people will follow him.

I felt like the character development for Amon should have been stretched out a bit more. It was too simple for me. He had a bad father and turned from a good kid to a bad kid? So that makes him want to take away everyone's bending? :/ Not the best development.

Re: [DISCUSSION] Legend of Korra - Season Finale

    1) I knew Amon was a bender, but I didn't like the way they revealed his identity so quickly

    2) He "took" people's bending away using blood bending. They should have elaborated more on how that is possible since it's not true energy bending.

    3) Season finale was decent IMO but not great.

    4) Aang had to work hard to master the Avatar State. He has to go through the pain of losing the other Airbenders, forgetting about his friends, and the girl he loves in order to achieve it. We saw a development of 3 seasons on this. From Aang triggering it due to rage to him mastering it and all of the 4 elements. Korra basically got hers through Aangs which was kind of BS to be honest, and he saves the day again and gives her bending back.

    5) General Iroh was kind of useless in my opinion. They hyped him up but he didn't do much.

    6) I did like how Korra learned how to airbend, but it didn't make sense. Amon "took" her bending away it shouldn't have been possible.

Just a few of my opinions on the finale.

I don't think it's about equality and taking away people's bending, but much deeper than that. If you remember back to whatever episode where Korra was kidnapped by Tarrlok, you see the story of how Aang took away Yakone's bending. He wanted to rule Republic City from it's rotten underbelly like Tarrlok said. Amon may be just fulfilling his wishes by taking on this stance of hating benders instead of controlling the crime syndicate. That way there's more people who are willing to follow him and has a stronger army.

Re: [DISCUSSION] Legend of Korra - Season Finale

Another thing I disliked about TLOK was the character development.

Aang- being the avatar had a mixture of personalities from joking around to serious within seconds.
Katarra- was the parental figure who took care of everyone in the group. She was also the most optimistic one
Sokka- Was the comedian of the group, always making jokes and light of any situation, he was also the strategist when it was time to fight.
Toph- The tough one in the group, she's more of the realist if you compare her to Katarra.
Zuko- The guy in the group who takes everything too serious. Somewhat of a realist like toph but he joined the group in the 3rd season.

Everyone in the orignal A:TLA group had different personalities and traits that meshed together to form a great team. In TLOK I honestly didn't feel that much character development if you compare the two series. It's like they took that aspect out in order to focus on the love triangle between Either Korra, Mako, and Bolin or Korra, Mako, and Asami.

no the whoel season korra was going though those chakras in a way and they weren't all unlocked till the end

fear of losing her bending ( so fear and loss)
love ( mako with asmi she had to try to let go of him they way aang tried but couldn't)
anger ( hot headed and mad taht she had no spirtally thing and had an air bending block tarrlok insult her about it she was pissed you can tell by the line " you think i'm a half baked avatar now?" that she was pissed at that comment tarrlok made)
and she had stress of defeating amon or teh worlds bending would be gone for ever.

and by the end all those problems are sloved she didin't just get it she did in a way have to workj for her spirtally side/avatar state/airbending

here read them and tell me if some of thsoe don't some like soemthing korra dealt with
    http://avatar.wikia.com/wiki/Chakras
shame: at her inabality to air bend and no spirt side ( she learned air bending so shame block un locked)
fear: amon and her bending ( amon defated and her bending was already gone no more fear block)
loss: her bending ( lost it thus it had happened she no longer felt the block from loss)
lie: her about being afird of no one ( which she unlocked when she confessed to tenzin)

also he can only take bending someone already knows/can do at that point korra wasn't able to air bend untill after words amon somehow unlocked her air bending block

and @everyone who thought amon face revealing would be someone from the first seris

Yes but why? Why did he want to take over Republic City? He bloodbended his father, opposed him before running away, and made it clear he was superior. So why do exactly what Yakone wanted him to do?

What's his motive I guess is all I'm wondering.

Re: [DISCUSSION] Legend of Korra - Season Finale

I was very disappointed with the finale. I had higher expectations for Amon. Although the way he "died" if he's dead was touching cuz we even saw a tear. Brothers til the end. But it felt too rushed. Things we still don't know and we're not explained...

    1. How did Amon take away bending? I know he used blodd bending but how?

    2. What made him want to rid the world of bending?

Korra goes into avatar state at the end..? Soo lame.

Above all the reason I watched this show besides the fact avatar is awesome is that I thought we Lear about what happened to Zukos mom! I heard their I an episode that will explain this called "skeletons in the closet" but how this will be incorporated has yet to be seen.

Hopefully season two is deeper and more things are thoroughly explained..
    Overall 7/10.
The idea was great with bender vs non benders but ending was too rushed ence the score.

Re: [DISCUSSION] Legend of Korra - Season Finale

Well for those wondering about how blood bending taking away bending if you think about it does make sense. I assume that the benders can use parts of their brain that non benders can't. And each element is a different part. So when Amon does blood bending and touches their forhead he's putting a block on that part of the brain to prevent blood from flowing to it and giving access to that element.

Which is why when he did it to Korra she was able to use air bending still. It was because it was from a different part of her brain than the other elements. I know it would have been obvious but I was hoping for a avatar state vs amon battle. I felt cheated when all that happened with the avatar state and amon.

Only thing im' upset about is at least in the first series they showed there were more bad guys for aang to fight at the end of season 1. It didn't hint that there was anyone left for Korra to fight for season 2. That was almost like a series finale not a season finale.

I dont like how we have more of the romance than we do of the action in this series though my wife loves that fact (grumble). I'm hoping that season 2 will have more action in it. Another thing is people are saying it was rushed but what do you expect? The first series had 20+ episodes in each season. This had 12 and there will be 12 in the 2nd season too. This whole series is as long as the first season of the first series. So its bound to feel crammed.

That's the next stage of life. Maybe he craved power like his father (hence leaving Tarrlok and calling him weak) and decided to try and take Korra's bending away to be the most powerful man, we don't know. We'll just have to wait until next season to find out.

As for how he "took" away their bending, I don't think he takes it away but moreso uses a combination of blood bending and chi blocking on the brain to make it seem like he could take it away rather than just blocking it.

I felt the end was a bit anti-climatic though for how great the episode was. The way Amon and Tarrlok left was pretty cool I would say, but the whole thing about going into the avatar state and controlling it so easily was just a bit random.

Re: [DISCUSSION] Legend of Korra - Season Finale

I think the timing of Korra going to the Avvy state was a bit of a turn-off.

TLoA - Goes in to avatar state episode 2...Then we see him go in to the state quite a few times

I really wanted to see Korra fight in the avatar state. When Korra went to the rally and saw Tenzin and co there, I thought, okay she won't go avatar state yet, too many people. Then the people left, tenzin free blah blah. When Korra, Mako, Amon were alone, I was yes...shit going to get real now.

After Korra got her bending taken away, and Amon was walking towards Mako, she should've went avatar state. -5 points...

    ____

To me overall, Korra didn't have enough fighting time.

The story was squashed a bit too much, the last episode(s) should've been longer...was only 45 minutes

    ____

    Season 2 better come soon...

not yet she still needs to master air bending.

anyway i have a feeling season 2 will take place a few years later after this. and now that korra can go avatar state at will it will be a fun battle they'll have toi come up with a very strong villain for her to fight. and @everyone theres still no word on what happened to azula maybe she had a kid and he wants revenge. they'll think of something
