As I was looking through channels to find something on T.V and I happened to come across something interesting on CNN. Apparently Monday July 9th anyone whos computer has been affected by "Alureon/ DNS Changer bot" virus will lose all access to the internet.

Internet users across the world have been warned that if they have the "Alureon/ DNS Changer bot" virus on their computers, they will lose their Internet connections July 9.

The virus "spoofs" popular websites in an attempt to steal personal information.

The software found its way into thousands of computers worldwide last year. It redirect users away from trusted websites, towards spoof websites in a bid to steal financial and personal information.

When the attack was noticed, the FBI routed infected machines through its server to stop the attacks. But the servers will be taken down July 9. When this happens, computers still infected are likely to lose their internet connection without warning.

Multiple websites have been setup to check if your computer is infected. One of them is DNS Changer Check-Up (for list of other websites click here). Simply visit the website and if you see green colour, your computer is clean.

If you see red colour instead, your computer may be infected. You should visit this page for instructions on how to fix your computer.

If you prefer to manually check your system, detailed instructions for Windows XP, Window 7 and Mac OS X are provided as well. Again, use this page to look for a fix should your PC turn out be infected.

But remember, you should do this check immediately, because if your PC is infected, you won't be able to access any websites after 9th July

I don't know who to trust, that website, or the fact that nothing might happen on July 9th, People this site might actually be a spoofer or a fake one >_> , I know it was said on CNN but come on how many times CNN said things about the internet and didn't happen, I'm not clicking any links until I check them all.

How to check these websites ?

If you don't know anything about HTML and shi* like me 0_0 , just talk to your ISP they'll do the Job perfectly.

That would suck though my anti-virus said the site was clean well for me at least. Don't really know if it could be a hoax or not I mean this stuff shows up on the news all the time and more than 90% of the time they end up being fake, but you never know if its real or not.

I can understand where you are coming from. I just posted this to inform people of what might happen Monday if it is real at all.

Edit: I found more info about this on wral.com(news website) and they give the same links as given in the quote in my first post on to how to go about seeing if you are infected, and how to go about fixing your computer if it is infected. Will post the link to it if you want.

Even by chance you lose your internet, all you have to do is call your internet provider and they are suppose to walk you through the steps on how to get rid of the virus. It's really not a big deal.
