Kushimaru had long, shaggy, straw-coloured hair and was both very thin and tall in stature which gave him a gangling appearance overall. Due to his service within the ANBU, his face was concealed by a white, porcelain mask, with a darker-coloured triangle on its lower half, slits for eye-holes and Kirigakure's symbol etched into the top. His attire consisted of a sleeveless black shirt, matching pants, complete with a waist-guard, and Kirigakure's striped wrist and leg-guards. He also wore bandages around his neck like the other members of his generation of the swordsmen.

Not very much is known about Kushimaru's personality. He would seem to be a quiet but deadly man, due to his very efficient and deadly way to kill people using his sword Nuibari.

History:

Amidst the battle with the Third Division, the reincarnated previous generation of the Seven Ninja Swordsmen of the Mist are summoned by Pakura and Gari, under Kabuto Yakushi's instruction, with the intention of overwhelming the opposition. Amongst their number is Kushimaru, who after being futilely bombarded by various techniques, retrieves Nuibari from within a scroll in Mangetsu Hōzuki's possession.

Entering the fray whilst concealed by a thick mist, Kushimaru begins a silent massacre, impaling a multitude of shinobi before bundling them together. With Zabuza Momochi's defeat, the mist clears, exposing Kushimaru to the enemy. By the time Kakashi Hatake and Might Guy departed for Naruto Uzumaki's location the next day, Kushimaru had been sealed by the Third Division.

The Nuibari (縫い針; Literally meaning "Sewing Needle") is one of the swords of the Seven Swordsmen of the Mist, wielded by Kushimaru Kuriarare. The blade itself assumes the form of a narrow "longsword" (長刀, chōtō) that greatly resembles a large needle, with a long length of thin wire mirroring thread, tied to the eye located at the base of its hilt. This sword is said to possess the ability to pierce all and stitch them together, demonstrated through its ability to effortlessly penetrate multiple targets in a single thrust and then quite literally stitches them together in substantial bundles, by simply pulling the attached wire taut.



A capable user can even throw the sword with the intent of piercing a line of multiple enemies, before catching the needle at the other side and repeating the process at different angles, in order to create knots of corpses with the wire passing through the entirety, effectively creating bundles of bodies at various points along the length of the thread.
