I'm confused, FMA

I watched 51 episodes of FMA now I'm seeing there are other FMA like brotherhood. Which one is the original thing? :shrug:

Full metal alchemist (not brotherhood) is the first one. It is nothing like the manga ( for most parts). Brotherhood is the other one that is designed to be like the manga

Brotherhood is based on the mange. The original FMA anime follows the manga to a point but it caught up to it in the process so they diverted from the canon storyline. The manga storyline is better by the way.

Brotherhood is suppoaed to take place within the war like missions and odd travels they did. Its stupid if u ask me.
