Re: Recommend A Book
Matt Cruse Series; (Airborn, Skybreaker, Starclimber): This series on Matt Cruise, who starts out as a cabin boy aboard the Aurora Airship, and follows his adventures, along with you Kate de Vries. This book is set in the fictional 1930's (cerca) and is set in a world where airships (blimps) not planes, rule the sky. Highly Recommended.
Alex Rider Series: The first book opens with 14-year-old orphan Alex Rider, the title character of the series, learning that his legal guardian and uncle, Ian Rider, has died in a car accident. Suspicious about the circumstances of his uncle's death, Alex decides to investigate and discovers that Ian was assassinated while working for MI6. MI6 recruit Alex and place him in a gruelling SAS training camp, before sending him undercover to continue his uncle's investigation of Herod Sayle, a Lebanese businessman. Successful in this mission, MI6 continually find new ways to blackmail Alex into working for them, and other intelligence agencies. Alex, during his missions, discovers that several members of his family have worked for MI6, including his father, his uncle, and his godfather.
The characters Alan Blunt, head of MI6 Special Operations, and his second-in-command Mrs Jones appear frequently in the franchise, usually to brief or debrief Alex.
The series is similar to the James Bond franchise in many ways, as both feature MI6 agents as their protagonists. One of the main antagonists of the Alex Rider series is the organization 'SCORPIA', similar to SPECTRE in the James Bond franchise, and Alex is often equipped with a wide array of gadgets supplied by MI6. (exert from Wikipedia) Highly Recommended.

For me it was more of a break from the long, serious books that I'm accustomed to reading. And it's quite funny.

Re: Recommend A Book
The Time Traveler's Wife
It's written in such a style that, while twisted and jumping through different time periods, is very easy to understand and actually enhances the story.
Henry is not normal, since he was 4 he has been travelling through time. He has no control, and nothing gets transported with him (ie clothes, or teeth fillings). Then he meets Clare, who has known him since she was very little (or rather she knows an older version of Henry). This is a story about how they try to develop a life together despite various obstacles. The major one being Henry's 'problem' with time. It's lovely, heart wrenching, totally beautiful. (The movie sucked, don't base your opinion off that.)
The Deed of Paksenarrion by Elizabeth Moon (a trilogy)
This is one long trilogy, and it drags you from one corner of its world to another. It drags you through the happiest and pure emotions, to the darkest depths of despair. It is the life of one Paksenarrion. She is a sheep farmer's daughter who ran away to join a mercenary company. She lives as a soldier, as a refugee, a drifter, a paladin, and a gladiator, and a begger. This is a book that truly embodies metamorphosis and the trials, and steps between each stage. It's a work of literary art.
