They're great. I think the concept was amazing.

Technically speaking, they were the only books I've ever read.

But, despite that, they were really good, although it's meant for children but hell, who's counting the odds?

Movie sucked though. A bit of a disgrace to the books. :\

The Spiderwick Chronicles are amazing no matter what the age limit is required to but yeah the movie really crashed. It was awful and embarrassing in most parts and many details were left out, and by many I mean like half the book. You can't just squash three books together into one film unless that film is a few hours long and at least had most of the details in there. Look at Lord of the Rings for crying out loud, now those movies(and the books ) were/are incredible.

I've never read the Chronicles, but I love Holly Black. Tithe Valiantand Ironside are probably some of my favorite books.

Agreed! Especially at the Lord of the Rings part!

But seriously, the books were amazing! The movie was terrible (especially Mallory's long dark hair and my imagined Tomboy-ish elegance was a disappointment. Elegance referring to the cover of book 4, The Ironwood Tree.) I really expected better. >_< thanks for nothing Hollywood!
