Martial Arts IRL
Hi guys.
I was just wondering if people here on NB only enjoys watching fictional characters figthing in manga or anime. Or if anyone actually do any martial arts IRL. Which one? What do you find appealing about it? What does it "give" you? etc.
When i was a kid(5-11) i was a greco-roman wrestler, but that got to onesided for me. Then i tried a bunch of other MA's for some short periods, like BJJ, Boxing and Judo. None of them really did it for me though.
today im 19 and i have been doing MMA for quite a while(1½ years) now and think my self to be pretty good at it. :D
The thing about MMA that really does it for me, is that it's all kinds of MA's all mixed into one sport. Whether if you are a grappler, striker or whatever, you can participate and become succesful.
It has really given me a lot too, i've become physically fit, more clear minded, more fearless and competive minded.
So.. What about you guys?

heh.. Don't hold your breath dude. Im from Denmark, and there is only one Dane to ever get THAT succesful and go to the UFC. Nonetheless, one can hope. :D
Well, im thankful to greco roman wrestling background, because it gives me a headstart on throws/slams and groundfighting, because thats what i base my style on. But i think that if someone is really good at a martial art, then everything is a good base for MMA.. well not shit like Kiai, but almost everything.

Re: Martial Arts IRL
I've done martial arts for about 7 or 8 years now; my main inspiration to start learning was from watching DBZ religiously when I was younger.
I've trained for about 4 years in Taekwondo and 3 years in Karate, and some of my time has gone towards learning different grapples and throws from Jujitsu. In the future, I hope to self-teach myself a bit of Iaido and kenjutsu, and maybe go onto learning Jeet Kune Do. :D

Re: Martial Arts IRL
I've done Karate before, when I was really young, around 7 or 8. But we moved to another country, so I stopped. Now I'm thinking of learning Martial Arts again. I'm not interested in hold, I like to punch, and hit stuff.
