I've read lots of comments about Kishi's hole in the storyline due to the Minato mountain statue in the background.
I don't think it is a hole in the storyline, because if you recall, in the Raikage Vs Minato flashback, Minato said to Raikage "The next time we fight, we will be putting the name of kage on the line"
Therefore I strongly believe that it's isn't some kind of mistake but is intended.
Sorry for not putting in the pic of the manga where Minato says that, but i'm new at this forum posting, so i hope you can all bear over with me :D

It's a plot hole, when Obito died, it was later than this week's chapter obviously, and Minato's head was not carved into the rock.
In this chapter Obito is still alive and Minato's head IS in the rock.

Obito died during the third ninja war, and at that same war Minato met Raikage, so he must have been Hokage before the war

I believe Minato was elected as Hokage but wasn't appointed officially coz of war and that's why Minato told Raikage becoz he knew that after war he was going to be appointed...and that's why his face was carved in that mountain after the war...

Guy's heres my theory; Minato was elected as hokage but wasn't officially appointed as one due to the ninja war, they needed his skills on the battlefield. You guy's know Minato had a heavy rep and FTG was capable of taking out an entire platoon.

in one flashback u can see minato standing next to the third (Hiruzen) and Minato didnt become hokage until after Obito died

maybe the 4th was like the 3rd where he was hokage at one point and then the crazy fast sculpture people carved his face on the mountain. Then the 3rd wanted to hokage again and had the 4ths face removed and told the 4th to wait until after the war.

If im not mistaken some mangakas have assistansts, maybe in some stressfull scenario they made the wrong background but went with it anyway. Or perhaps iv been reading to much Bakuman. Or maybe Kishi made it.

Maybe its a slight change or a mistake. Kishi said in part one that Byuakugan was the ancestor of Sharingan but that dousnt seem likely anymore.
