    This one comes from your mouth as most wind jutsu's are. See "line of sight" that means basically a straight line so it can't bend around things. Also see "superior shinobi", this basically means your rank and the mastery you have of fuuton. Note hand seals as it's a disadvantage if you do not have master over fuuton.

    (Gōkūhō) - Wind Release: Great Vacuum Cannon
    As the description says, this one comes from the mouth as well. Though the description in the jutsu is clear


    (Fūton: Reppūshō) - Wind Release: Gale Palm

    How to Attack: Could be used to propel several Kunai at faster speeds towards the opponents vital points, or just used to knock down an opponent.

    How to Defend: Knock down the opponent as they are drawing closer to attack.

    How to Counter: Can be countered by putting up a stronger wall of rock to block the wind.

    Advantages Can be performed quickly and thus take the opponent off balance.

    Disadvantages: Only short range.

    Combinations: Can be used with Fire Release: Great Fireball Technique to increase it power and range, since this wind jutsu is a blunt force attack, it would push instead of slicing the fireball.

    Question: I made an assumption on the increasing the range of the fireball as above, would that actually happen or does it only increase the power of the fire?


    (Fūton: Daitoppa) - Wind Release: Great Break Through

    How to Attack: Could be used like the gale palm to propel several projectile ninja tools but instead up to long range. In a closer range it could be used to simply throw the opponent off balance or into the path of another jutsu.

    How to Defend: If it is quick enough, using this jutsu would interrupt an opponent performing hand seals as they go to release their jutsu, by knocking them over backwards.

    How to Counter: As it only travels in a straight line and can not be manipulated, by using a jutsu to propel me to the side I would be open to attack freely.

    Advantages Extends up into long range, meaning that it has a good cover of the field.

    Disadvantages: The hand seals are the main drawback, until such a time that I choose to specialise in wind.

    Combinations: Could be used with Fire Release: Wall of Flames to propel a steam of fire out into long range, potentially taking the target off guard as they would not be able to see the hand seals through the wall of flames.

    Question: None.


    (Gōkūhō) - Wind Release: Great Vacuum Cannon

    How to Attack: Can be used, as the description says, to knock back the opponent if I think they are too close for my liking where I would then use a follow up attack, or just to create an opening for a follow up attack.

    How to Defend: Can be used to defend by stopping an incoming attack, as this jutsu is a projectile or sorts, I would be free to follow up with a supporting attack or a follow up attack.

    How to Counter: Countered by using an earth jutsu to create a wall to block it.

    Advantages No hand seals, is a projectile and travels to mid-range.

    Disadvantages: Not much damage to be dealt using it on its own.

    Combinations: Used with Fire Release: Phoenix Sage Fire Technique to make the fire balls with shuriken in them to swirl around the wind sphere and increase the range of the fire technique.

    Sorry, it made sense at the time but now I see it in fact makes no sense at all.

    I was thinking that since the wind is short ranged and the fire ball is short ranged, by combining them would the they increase the range up to mid? So would two short range jutsus equal a mid range jutsu while also raising the rank by one?

    No. Just basically increase in power. The jutsu above, the range is how ever far you throw you're kunai or pojectile. It is short range to the projectile.

    How to Attack: Can be used to attack by not only pushing back the opponent, which would then be followed up by another attack, but by using it to create many sizable cuts on the opponents in order to injure them. I good time to use the slicing version is when they are concentrating on making hand seals or another similar task

    How to Defend: Used to push the opponent back form me would be the best use as a defence for this jutsu. At a critical moment of the opponents attack to unexpectedly blow their attack back at them.

    How to Counter: A good way to counter this would be to put up a large and strong enough rock wall so that the wind would hit the earth instead. Alternatively I could go underground and come up behind the user.

    Advantages A good amount of damage can be dealt with this jutsu, or it can be used to push the opponent away.

    Disadvantages: Unles I am Temari (or have a fan), I require hand seals in order to use the jutsu.

    Combinations: I could use Syrup capture field to first trap my opponent in place followed up with this jutsu to deal serious cuts to the majority of their body.

    How to Attack: By using this technique I can create several small tornadoes around the opponent and then making them converge on them. They would be harmed by the force of the tornado and any small debris picked up by them.

    How to Defend: Make several tornadoes appear in front of me to stop kunai and other ninja tools from hitting me.

    How to Counter: Can be countered by using a more powerful wind technique to blow the tornadoes away.

    Advantages No hand seals and can be used quite quickly with little effort.

    Disadvantages: Not very strong, unless used with a fire technique...

    Combinations: Since I have completed my fire training, I can use this technique with Fire Release: Running Fire to create a massive flame hurricane around the opponent to trap and then burn them to a crisp.

    How to Attack: Other than using it with the fire and earth jutsu's it can be used I guess the same way as any other blunt force wind technique to push someone off balance or deflect projectiles...

    How to Defend: Used to know the opponent of balance with a gust of wind to open them up for a counter attack.

    How to Counter: A b-rank lightning jutsu would cancel this vortex where as an A-rank lightning jutsu would be able to continue travelling towards the opponent. I would use chidori sharp spear to continue through to pierce the opponents chest.

    Advantages Sets up a great combination attack

    Disadvantages: The three hand signs leaves a slight delay in the release of the attack from the first aggressive move (hand seals) leaving time for an opponent to counter

    Combinations: Basically, as you said, this jutsu exists to be used with the fire and earth combination to trap the opponent in an enclosed space where the wind is used to send the fire all around the opponent

    Question: So, really not on I would use unless with the Fire and Earth jutsu in the description? Also, it is a blunt force wind attack isn't it?

    How to Attack: Creating three crescents of wind that I would direct to attack the opponent from the left, right and front to leave them with only one option of escape.

    How to Defend: Can be used to cut the opponents attack to stop it or even directed to cut the opponents limbs as they move to attack

    How to Counter: A swirling blunt force wind attack of the same rank could stop the wind crescents from doing damage to the one defending such as Wind Release: Sickle Weasel Technique (even though it is a slicing type, it covers enough of the field to block the crescents)

    Advantages Being able to direct the crescents is a big plus, as well as the ability to make three of them.

    Disadvantages: Only short range.

    Combinations: I could create three crescents using this jutsu to attack his right, left and front where I then create an earth pillar to stop the opponents ability to retreat backwards to trap them in between the wind crescents.

    Vortex of wind. Think of it as a hurricane type, it's almost blunt AND slashing type but only if you are near it. More of a blunt type if you ask me. You can use this as a wind jutsu and not a combination jutsu with other elements. It all depends on your strategy and what you want to do. When using this you have to use the 3 slots of jutsu's, so if you want the full desired effects as the description you would have to use all three. Since more than likely you won't have yin and yang, you need to do them seperately. Which takes time to set up effectively. It can happen and again it depends on your strategy.

The user can remain in one spot for the use of the technique, because he or she can direct it anywhere they desire. Therefore, the user can increase the direction and power of the technique to the maximum as a last resort.


    (Fūton: Kazekiri) - Wind Style: Wind Cutter
    One of the defensive jutsu's that you can cut the other incoming wind attack in half. Note rank though if it's a B rank and above attack it won't have any effect and you would get hit.

    How to Counter: Using Wind Style: Wind Cutter is a pretty simply way to counter the cyclones, rendering them useless.

    Advantages Reaches up to long range, the direction can be controlled by the user.

    Disadvantages: The three hand signs gives the opponent time to attack and I have to stay in one spot in order to use it.

    Combinations: Can be used with Small Fire Stream to create flaming cyclones that can be manipulated by the user.

    Question: You said I can create and control three of these cyclones, do I have to perform the jutsu three times to create three of them or is it part of the one jutsu?

    1. No you won't have time unless you can form both at the sametime, which you dont, so no, only use this when you need to defend and can not counter and reverse your situation.

    How to Defend: Being a slicing attack I could use it to cut through an incoming attack such as a lower ranked fire ball or equally ranked earthen projectile.

    How to Counter: Can be countered by using a stronger fire attack that would push the wind back or absorb the wind.

    Advantages No hand seals and can be used it under the paralysis genjutsu.

    Disadvantages: None that I can think of.

    Combinations: Could be used after I catch the opponent with my Lava rope jutsu where I would then use this jutsu to slash at them.

    Question:None




    How to Attack: I could use this in short range to slash at the opponent while also pushing them back with the whirlwind.

    How to Defend: I would do pretty much the same thing as above, by using the whirlwind to push them back or keep them occupied.

    How to Counter: If I was in range I could create an earth pillar under their arm to knock the sword of course or out of their hand.

    Advantages A quick jutsu that could easily be incorporated into a swing in a moments notice.

    Disadvantages: Requires a sword to use it, if the sword is knocked away or you simply don't have one then this jutsu can't be used.

    Combinations: After creating a wall of flame using Fire Release: Wall of Flames, I would then slash at the wall to release the whirlwind through the fire. The whirlwind would pick up some fire creating a powerful flaming whirlwind.

    Question: None




    How to Attack: I would use this as a strong cutting jutsu to cut through an opponents jutsu if not stopping them using the jutsu by cutting at their hands.

    How to Defend: Used to cut through an incoming attack to dissipate it.

    How to Counter: If the opponent can interrupt the hand seals then user would not be able to execute the technique. If a fan is used, a strong fire technique to burn the fan or overpower the wind would work.

    Advantages With the fan, it is a quick jutsu to execute.

    Disadvantages: Without the fan the two hand seals, while not being that debilitating, can leave an opening.

    Combinations: Can't think of one right now.

    Question:Would this work with a sword like it does with the fan?




    How to Attack: After jumping on the fan, I can use it to ram into the enemy and inflict and deep wound with it.

    How to Defend: I would use it to quickly evade and attack by flying out of it's range.

    How to Counter: Using a larger wind technique that creates a whirlwind would disrupt the flight of the user and cause them to crash.

    Advantages A good technique to escape via flight.

    Disadvantages: Needs a fan, and you become an airborne target.

    Combinations: I could use it to gain a height advantage on the opponent to unleash Fire Release: Great Flame Flower upon the opponent.

    How to Attack: If I had a fan I would use this to inflict some damage and sending them airborne with the fan before using the wind to push them further skywards, making them susceptible to a follow up attack. Without a fan, after I make the hand seals I would use it to push them away from me so I can prepare a larger attack.

    How to Defend: Using the fan to knock an opponents hand away so they cannot finish their hand seals where I then push them off balance backwards to create an opening.

    How to Counter: If the opponent has a fan, using a jutsu to knock the fan away would mean that they need to perform the hand seals which would give me more time while they do so, to use an attack to encourage them to move away.

    Advantages Good short range justu that can push back an opponent while dealing some damage (with the fan)

    Disadvantages: Needs the fan or else hand seals must be performed. Only effective in short range.

    Combinations: When used with the fan to knock someone into the air, I can use chidori spear to piece them with some ease as would have no control over there movement for a few seconds.

    Question: How many hand seals would you need for this?

    (Futon: Reppuu Bakufuu no Jutsu) - Wind Release: Gale Blast Technique

    How to Attack: Use the fan to knock the opponent backwards while another jutsu is set up.

    How to Defend: Disrupt the opponents hand seals by using this jutsu to push them off balance to give me more time to effectively strike them.

    How to Counter: Knock the fan away or use Earth Release: Bedrock Coffin to crush them as they perform the hand seals (if they don't have a fan especially)

    Advantages It's range gives it a greater versatility than Rising Tempest Wall Technique and has less(?) hand seals than it.

    Disadvantages: Not a jutsu to deal a significant amount of damage on its own.

    Combinations: After knocking the opponent backwards and possibly onto the ground, Bedrock coffin would be able to crush them while they are disoriented.

    Question: None

    (Futon: Reppuu Bakufuu no Jutsu) - Wind Release: Gale Blast Technique

    How to Attack: Using it in a tight situation where hand seals would cost one the battle, I would release this whirlwind upon the opponent to suck them up into it, buying me some time to re-compose myself and attack.

    How to Defend: Much the same as how I would attack ^^

    How to Counter: Using Earth Release: World Shaking would put the opponent off balance so they could not aim the jutsu at me properly giving me the chance to get in close and attack.

    Advantages With no hand seals, it is a quick and effective jutsu to unleash upon the opponent.

    Disadvantages: A fire jutsu would follow the whirlwind back into the users mouth... >_>

    Combinations: Not sure of one right now...

    I knew u were going to ask that question. If it didn't state, just say you performed a set of seals. Okay, for combinations, I've noticed that you are not sure or what not, lets go through some quick battle scenerios for wind techniques.

    As you know wind techniques are a good combination with fire, but what about using wind and water afterwards? what do you think would happened? How would the opponent counter?

    I know that wind can boost the power of water, for instance a wave can be pushed by the wind giving it a greater impact than normal. Countering a wind/water combination... m... well for wind it is naturally weak against fire where water is strong against fire, so a fire jutsu would not work.

    However, earth is neutral to wind and strong against water, so maybe a strong earth jutsu could counter a wind/water combination?

    I was just trying to get at that combinations that are good with one another for example fire and wind, is good but it's always expected. If you try to use wind and water, instead of fire, it's unexpected. Plus they can not counter with fire, which compensates for the elemental disadvantage.

    Thanks for that little bit with the counters, I'll try to keep that in mind but I don't know all that much water jutsu so it will for the moment be a secondary though to fire, which I just recently completed.

    How to Attack: Infusing several shuriken with wind chakra so that they can easily cut through other projectile weapons thrown towards me, and continue towards my opponent.

    How to Defend: I would use this as a back-up sword if I where disarmed in a skirmish with another swordsmen. By quickly drawing a kunai and infusing it with the jutsu, I could adequately protect myself from a potentially lethal blow.

    How to Counter: If used to increase the range/power of shurikens, the best way to counter would be to create a small earth pillar to propel myself to the side out of the way. If used to add a shape to a weapon, then a jutsu that could keep me and the opponent apart would work...

    Advantages Stronger than the normal method of infusing wind chakra into weapons and has a better ability to keep its shape than the standard infusion. Also a quick and easy jutsu to activate and can be done if ones hands are occupied.

    Disadvantages: If the jutsu is used to add a shape around a weapon, I can't then try to increase it's cutting power and range at the same time. As you said, it's one or the other.

    Combinations: By first creating a wall of flames using Fire Release: Wall of Flames and infusing shurikens so that they have increased cutting power, they will also pick up some of the fire thus creating a type of Phoenix Flame jutsu looking thing...

    Question: This is Danzo's jutsu he used against Sasuke isn't it?


    (Fūton: Shinkūken) - Wind Release: Shock Blade

    How to Attack: I would use this as a quick starting attack, as it requires nothing more than a swing of my sword. (and the releasing chakra into it ^^) This is a good attack to occupy the opponent putting them on the defensive form the start so I can create a good follow up.

    How to Defend: A good jutsu so push an opponent away if they get too close, also if they are in range, they could get hit by the sword and get pushed back by the jutsu.

    How to Counter: Using the same jutsu to counter this one would suffice if you are far enough away to notice it, other wise an A-rank fire would work.

    Advantages Quick jutsu that may not be expected as you could activate it as you draw your sword (if it sits on your hip).

    Disadvantages: After using this attack, you can't quickly use hand seals unless you drop the sword as soon as you release it. However there is still that opportunity for the opponent to counter if they are good enough.

    Combinations: As it is blunt force wind, it could be used to push kunai and shuriken with it adding that extra damage factor to the jutsu.

    How to Attack: N/A

    How to Defend: I would use this to deflect a flurry of small projectiles or it someone where to use Bedrock coffin on me.

    How to Counter: If I wanted to stop them using this jutsu I would use a fire based attack so that they would be caught in a vortex of flames...

    Advantages A quick last minute defence... if you have a sword that is

    Disadvantages: Leaves you vulnerable if the opponent has followed up with a fire jutsu as this would simply fuel the fire as it hits you.

    Combinations: If I used Water Style: Water Heavens Convergence first and then followed up with Peacock Whirlwind Formation, I could surround myself with a water/wind vortex that would give me a greater defence that the normal Whirlwind Formation would.

    Question: None.

    (Fūton: Shippuu Tama) - Wind Release: Twister Shot

    How to Attack: Used to create a powerful twister to damage and push back the enemy.

    How to Defend: If caught too close to the opponent and I have my hands full, this would be a good jutsu to use to put some distance between us. To do this I would aim this at the opponents face just as they get in close, this would disorient, injure and push them away a little.

    How to Counter: Using Fire Release: Running Fire aimed at the centre of the vortex would cause it to travel through it towards the user of the Twister shot.

    Advantages Being mid-range it if useful in the majority of the battle as most battle take place within mid-range. Also a quick jutsu to form and use.

    Disadvantages: While exhaling the vortex the user is very susceptible to a fire attack being directed at them, as it would travel straight through the vortex and towards their mouth.

    Combinations: A shadow clone using Fire Release: Running Fire as I use Twister shot could create a powerful fire/wind combination. Or a clone using Water Release: Water Horn with this jutsu would also create a good water/wind combination.

    (Fūton: Kaze Gaeshi) - Wind Style: Wind Return

    How to Attack: Quite simply as the description says, by splitting the incoming wind attack and taking control of it using my own wind chakra I could then direct it back at the opponent.

    How to Defend: Used to catch the incoming wind attack and either directed back at the opponent and maybe block their follow up attack.

    How to Counter: By using a fire technique after or in conjunction with the wind attack, the opponent would not be able to re-direct the wind without taking a great deal of damage from the fire.

    Advantages Allows the user to not have to evade (by using an attack to move out of the way) and keep there placing while also returning the same attack used against them.

    Disadvantages: If the wind attack is too quick then I would not have enough time to make the hand seals (if I don't specialise in wind or course) and re-direct the attack.

    Combinations: After returning the wind attack back at the opponent I could then follow up with Fire Release: Fire Breath to increase the damage taken by the opponent.

    Question: Does this jutsu return the same type of wind attack (slicing or blunt force) or does it create a generic swirling wind with a b-rank power?

    How to Attack: I would use this to slash at chest level of the opponent so that they will be cut in a pretty severe location by the wind and if they are making hand seals they will be interrupted by this attack.

    How to Defend: By slashing at the opponents feet I could stop them from advancing or cause them to drastically change there footing and put them off balance. Or if I'm caught in close range to them I could release this jutsu as I quickly draw my sword to block an incoming attack or push them away.

    How to Counter: By quickly creating a small earth pillar under the opponents arm just as they swing their sword, they would not be able to follow through with the attack. Alternatively by using stone spikes the opponents movements would be restricted enough so they could not attack with this jutsu.

    Advantages No hand seals and can be used unexpectedly as part of a Kenjutsu attack.

    Disadvantages: Without a sword this jutsu can not be used, also a sharingan user would be able to see you channel the chakra into the sword giving them a chance to counter it effectively.

    Combinations: By first using Fire Release: Flame Wall to create a wall of fire in front of the opponent I could then follow up by using this attack with my sword. The wind would travel through the fire and pick up the flames adding more power to the wind jutsu.

    (Fūton: Dai Sakūgen Sebiti) - Wind Release: Great Slashing Tornado

    How to Attack: After performing the hand seals for this attack, I would create a tornado under the opponent to deal damage to them with the slicing wind while also lifting them up in to the air.

    How to Defend: Basically the same as how to attack.

    How to Counter: With Dodai I could surround myself with a rubber ball that would protect me from the damage of the tornado and the effects of falling back to the ground. Other wise I could shoot myself out of it and into long range by creating a small earth pillar just as I notice the tornado forming.

    Advantages This is a good jutsu as it disrupts the opponents footing as it lifts them up into the air, leaving them susceptible to a follow up attack while also interrupting the rest of their move.

    Disadvantages: The hand seals required for non fan users or non wind specialists would give the opponent the time needed to interrupt the move.

    Combinations: This used with Fire Release: Great Fire Flame Pillars Technique would create a flaming tornado around the opponent and deal significant damage to them.

    Question: None


    (Fūton: Senpūken) - Wind Style: Hurricane Fist

    How to Attack: In a taijutsu engagement this could be effectively used as a part of a normal looking punch that would come as a surprise against the opponent.

    How to Defend: The mist common way people use this to defend, or rather avoid, is to punch either to the side out of the way, or forwards to move out of range of their opponents attack. This is good to knock back an incoming opponent and any projectile techniques that aren't stronger than the whirlwind.

    How to Counter: Releasing a stream of fire from your mouth (such as Fire Release: Graceful Flame) as the opponent uses this punch, would cause the flame to travel back along the hurricane and hit the opponent.

    Advantages A great jutsu for avoiding attacks by moving either out of their range or by moving out of their path.

    Disadvantages: Can only be used to move backward into the next range (short to mid or mid to long) and can leave the user vulnerable if they become too airborne with it. Also a direction change is not possible without using another Hurricane Fist jutsu to do so, during flight of the first one.

    Combinations: Back to my standard wind/fire combo would be to use Fire Release: Flame Wall then punch through it with this jutsu.Or by first using Water Style: Water Encampment Wall to create a wall of water around me I could then punch through that to create a water/wind combination.

    How to Attack: I would use this if I needed to deal more damage to the opponent than is parent jutsu, by trapping them in the whirlwind that would go onto deal severe cuts to the opponents body.

    How to Defend: I could use this when the opponent send an attack or moves to attack me by creating the whirlwind around the incoming jutsu or the opponent, to trap and cut whatever is coming at me.

    How to Counter: By dropping a flash bomb as the whirlwind forms, the user of the jutsu would be blinded long enough for me to evade the jutsu by using Hiding like a mole technique. Coming up behind them to deal a finishing blow.

    Advantages Has a decent coverage over the field and not only is able to trap the opponent in a whirlwind, but deals more severe cuts to their body.

    Disadvantages: Like with any wind jutsu, there is always the potential for the jutsu to backfire on the user it the opponent can counter with a quicker, large scale fire jutsu.

    Combinations: After using this jutsu I could follow up with a suitable fire technique such as ( Katon: Kaen Senpū ) - Fire Release: Flame Whirlwind to create a fiery maelstrom that would not only do cutting damage to the opponent but would also burn them.

    (Fūton: Jūha Reppū Shō) - Wind Style: Beast Tearing Gale Palm

    How to Attack: A great jutsu to use in combination during a taijutsu engagement. By finding a suitable time to activate it, I could deal some major damage to them in a manner that they would most likely not expect to see.

    How to Defend: Being an extension of my dominant hand (right) I would use this to deflect incoming attack (not fire) if they weren't too strong that is, or knock away the opponent if they are about to launch an attack.

    How to Counter: Can be countered by using a fire jutsu that would be boosted by the wind and thus burn the users arm pretty badly. (fire steams, fire balls or ( Katon: Kaen Senpū ) - Fire Release: Flame Whirlwind would be suitable)

    Advantages Good defensive and offensive abilities while also being able to extend out to mid-range.

    Disadvantages: As the wind is directly connected to your arm, a fire jutsu would travel along the wind arm and cause severe burns to the user.

    Combinations: I could use this jutsu to grab the opponent and toss them slightly up into the air where I could then follow up by using a range lightning attack such as chidori spear, to finish them off.

    Question: None



    (Futon: Kazekama no Yori) - Wind Release: Wind Sickle Armor

    How to Attack: Another good jutsu to activate during a taijutsu encounter, after which the opponent would have a difficult time dealing damage to me while I could increase the damage I am capable of doing to them.

    How to Defend: If activated at the right time, I could use this to deflect and incoming attack (such as projectiles, an incoming taijutsu attack or an incoming lightning attack) so that I would remain unaffected by them.

    How to Counter: ( Katon: Kaen Senpū ) - Fire Release: Flame Whirlwind used after the opponent activates this jutsu, or really any c-rank or higher jutsu, would leave the user of the wind armour with severe burns over their entire body.

    Advantages A good short range defensive jutsu that also serves to increase the lethality and power of the users taijutsu attacks.

    Disadvantages: Fire... being coated in wind the user is susceptible to fire based attacks especially if they could encompass the users body would thus leaving them with severe burns.

    Combinations: Really it is a good jutsu to combine with any taijutsu attack as it would deal a bit of extra damage to the opponent.
