Fairy Tail; Worth the read?

Is it worth the read? I'm currently keeping up with > 10 manga, yet one of good online buddies keeps pestering me to read this. I watched a few episodes and hated the animated version, so I wonder if that was just me or if the manga is simply better?

The idea behind it seems really Shounen-typical, which is unfortunately never an objective 'good' or 'bad', so I want your opinions.

I would highly suggest it. I really like reading it. I watch it too, as I love the anime version. Just don't expected a lot of the characters to be OPed.

Edit: The arcs get more interesting the deeper you go into the series. There are fillers, but the fillers are between arcs, and there aren't many fillers. Most of the time with fillers they're just filler arcs, some are small, and then there are some that are long.

Fairy Tale is a great manga/anime imo.
There are fillers though, might be hard catching up on it.

Yes it's fantastic. Fights are intense plot has become really interesting after latest chapter.

Definitely give it a read! The thing I love about FT that differentiates it is its humor. I also appreciate that females are as powerful as the males, some more so. Great story arc right now in the manga. Still catching up on the anime, but loving it so far (subbed not dubbed).

The beginning is pretty slow, but it picks up around chapter 47(manga) and episode 21(anime) with the Phantom Lord arc.

It's a interesting manga/anime, but it has a lot of fanservice and trolling. And be warned, if you don't like the theme of friendship then don't read it because that's what the whole manga is essentially revolved around.

OT: Yes, definitely give Fairy Tail the read. It's a very nice series if you read it while relaxing and don't take it to seriously.

The characters are fun, the villains are cool and it all pulls together nicely.
