      Crappy WiFi Help please

Basically my WiFi connection is terrible. YouTube and Netflix load so, so, so, so slow. I think my download speed is like 1.32MBps. Anyways, what can I do to strengthen my signal?

      This is my router:

Buy a better one? Or reset the router.

It shouldn't have much to do with your actual router, itself.

How many electronics do you usually have connected to it though (cell phones, laptops, Ipods, etc)?

1.32 MBps for a download speed is frankly, horrible. Are you sure that's not your upload speed?

Either way I recommend going to google and typing in 'Test My Internet Speed'. Click the first link, then test it. After this hook your laptop/pc/whatever directly into your modem via ethernet cable and see if you get the same results. If you do and it's your download speed then you need to call your internet provider and tell them to come fix it. I don't know of any provider that offers that horrible of speed, especially for DSL, etc.

I am 100% sure that it is my download speed. I checked two individual websites and the differed by .08 Someone mentioned firmware, what is that?

I have reset my router and nothing has changed. I will try a direct link with a hard wire and if that doesn't help I guess I'll have to call IT support for Internet provider.

How far away from your router are you? I have the same router and I'm in the opposite side of the house from it, and i sometimes have problems with a weak singal. Also, is it cable internet or DSL? Do you have a lot of devices connected to it? Is there anything between your router and computer that could be interfering with the signal? (Other wireless devices, metal).

First go to the local site your modem....something like 192.168.1.1
note the firmware version there...now go to the official site of your modem and search for your product there...if there is a new firmware update available then download it...You can follow the instruction there to update your firmware to its latest version...(This is just for those who want to learn and try new things) IF you want more info on this topic...visit this :

BTW sometimes there is a problem with our ISP (Internet Service Provider) so if resetting does not work...try to call your ISP and make sure they do not have any problem there..i recommend you call your ISP
