Slug, Snake, Toad

Sounds familiar? Yep, those are the summonings of the Legendary Sannin - Jiraiya, Orochimaru and Tsunade.

Why these three animals? There is another reason from Japanese legends. I'm sure everybody knows the game "Scissors, Paper, Stone" (also known as Janken in Japanese) where the scissors cuts paper, paper covers stone and the stone smashes the scissors. The Slug, Snake, Toad works in the same concept.

In this variation, the Frog is afriad of the Snake, the Snake is afriad of the Slug and the Slug is afriad of the Frog. This is influenced by the Sansukumi way of thinking where it keeps the 3 objects in a deadlock. The fact that the Sannins use these 3 animals as summons may be the author hinting that there is no stronger one among them, and that their strength are more or less equal.

According to this they are more or less equals. Tsunade ( Slug) > Orochimaru ( Snake) > Jiraiya ( Toad)> Tsunade ( Slug), etc.

Tsunade is more of a support shinobi. She's not made for the front line (like Jiraiya and Orochimaru are). The three of them are equal interms of skill/being a shinobi (in different aspects), but they're not equal in strength.

Yup. Is like the theory of the chair with 3 legs. The best balance is found in the chair with 3 legs, not in that of 4 legs. I think some of you learned that at maths classes, lol.

Regardless, i'm simply stating that she is primarily a medical nin, whereas Orochimaru and Jiraiya are more suited to fighting on the front line. I never said Tsunade was incapable of doing so, simply pointing out that it's not what she specializes in.

That what I was saying she is a medical nin yes they are support types but she can defy the rules of the medical nin.

they are all strong in their own way, but i have to say that oro and jiraiya are better in combat (tsunade is a medic so she is important but still a medic) but that doesn't mean that tsunade is weak (she is a sannin) .... so her combat skills are great but not as good as jiraiya's or oro's .... every one has a role in a team

Tsunade isn't a Slug, Jiraiya isn't a toad and well Oro.... Don't know what the fuck he is , But the Slug > snake > Toad doesn't apply to the sannin themselves, just their summonings.
