Deidara of Explosion Style vs Sasori of the Red Sand

This is thread is reverting back to my One vs One Match ups but is variation in my Kage vs Kage Threads by including any shinobi that are Akatsuki or Jinchurikis.

This is a thread highlighting the strength of Deidara and essentially it has no bias but a purpose, and is therefore showing why either team could win. Simply you just ignore the title as i wrote it that way for people to recognize it was one of my threads.

Deidara's Abilities

-C1 Explosion Release (Basic Clay Bombs)
Through the use of this chakra infusing technique Deidara can merge his chakra with clay to create clay bombs in the shape of animals e.g. birds, snakes and spiders. The clay bombs retain the skills that they get through what animal they are shaped after meaning the bombs can fly, slither or run across the floor.

How Deidara can use this Ability Against Sasori: The shape specialization of his clay bombs means he can attack Sasori from all fronts and directions. His main offensive (due to his displayed fighting style) would most likely be through the use of aerial clay bombs to overwhelm him from above as well as provide a distraction for Deidara's stealth clay bombs to get as close to Sasori as possible.



-C2 Dragon Transformation
Deidara is also able to take these clay bombs to the next level by creating a large dragon creature which is capable of flight. While Deidara is safely on its back, the dragon can spit out smaller clay bombs that attack the opponent like guided missiles.

How Deidara can use this Ability Against Sasori: Deidara can exceed the range of Sasori's Mid-High range of all of his jutsus means he would automatically take the offensive while his opponent has no choice but to take up the defensive. He could further capitalize on this range difference by wearing down Sasori's entire arsenal, mainly his Iron Sand with his successive explosions (demagnetization due to extreme heat).



-C2 Dragon: Clay Mines
This can be used to prevent the Kazekage from being allowed to land on the ground or even remaining there which means that he must always be airborn, cannot make any summons at the risk of damaging them and must constantly use his iron sand to fly draining at his chakra even if slightly.

How Deidara can use this Ability Against Sasori:It is also made more difficult by tracker clay bombs who will constantly follow him meaning he must also move around constantly without touching the floor at all or remain on the defensive for a large portion of the fight.


-C4 Microscopic Clay Bombs
This is Deidara's trump card in beating Itachi and the Kazekage, with this he is able to create a massive sculpture in the shape and form of himself. The sculpture then greatly expands and then erupts (without much impact) seemingly having no effect. Then the opponent inhales these bombs without knowledge of doing so and Deidara then makes them explode destroying them on a cellular level only leaving dust in their place.

How Deidara can use this Ability Against Sasori: This ability would have little to no use in the fight due to his body not being constructed same as normal human but instead being an actual human puppet with a single living core. This makes it so that he doesn't posses a respiratory system eliminating the entire purpose of the jutus.

-C0 Massive Suicide Bomb
This is Deidara's Ultimate Clay bomb jutsu, with a stitched mouth on his chest he is able feed it a large ball of clay and turn himself into one final clay bomb. With it he creates his largest explosion but in doing so he sacrifices himself into one final blast by concentrating all of his chakra into his heart.

How Deidara can use this Ability Against Sasori: If Deidara were to be poisoned by one of Sasori's attacks he could quickly activate this technique to create a double suicide as there is no way for Sasori to guard against this or escape the immense range of this jutsu.

-C3 Enormous Exploding Statue
This is Deidara's most large scale bomb attack which was big enough to destroy a large portion of sunagakure even though Gaara's use of all his sand to protect the village. It takes shape of a statue and increases greatly in size as soon as it is dropped onto the landscape below.

How Deidara can use this Ability Against Sasori: The clay bomb is condensed into a substanially sized Statue meaning at least or 2-3 can be carried at the time. The bomb itself would act as the perfect counter to Sasori's Performance of 100 Puppets (His Trump Card) as it would engulf a large portion of the puppets and sever the remaining chakra strings connecting Sasori's body to the puppets.




Clay Clones and Hiding Mole Technique
Deidara is able to hide underground utilizing a basic earth release technique and is also able create clay clones among other similar techniques.

How Deidara can use this Ability Against Sasori:Clay clones have the unique ability of trapping the opponent when they pierce their body and still retain their explosive capabilities. It can have various uses for Deidara which include avoiding an actual confrontation, learning Sasori's battle style and sneak attacks as well baiting Sasori to strike him with his puppet and exploding on it at point blank range therefore severing the chakra puppet strings attached to it if not completely/partially destroying the puppet itself.

Sasori's Abilities

Powerful Fire Release Techniques
Scrolls on Sasori's back allowed him to shoot powerful streams of fire whilst in his "Human Puppet" Form. This gave him a long range alternative to bombarding the opponent with a hundred puppets all at once, meaning they would also have to dodge fast moving superheated streams of fire along with the impending threat of being cut by the poisoned puppets meaning even a light scratch or stumble would indeed prove to be fatal.

How Sasori could use this ability against Deidara: His streams of fire could be used as annilhination method much like a flame thrower to destroy Deidara's clay bombs before they get into range or if manages to somehow board or get into range Deidara's C2 Dragon (through elevating himself with his 100 Puppets) then he could destroy his method of flight as well as possibly creating a ricochet effect for Deidara who takes the full impact of the blast.



Third Kazekage Puppet - Iron Sand Kekkei Genkai
Sasori's favourite and most commonly used puppet was his Third Kazekage one which retained its one of a kind Magnet Release ability used to manipulate Iron Sand.

How Sasori could use this ability against Deidara:Iron Sand seems like the ideal defense against Deidara's clay bombs due to the versatility of it as it can reform itself into different structures and possibly provide Sasori with some sort of method of flight and its utility as it can defend against the majority of the explosions thrown at it, the ability to condense thus increasing its durability and finally the ability to merge together into large projectiles which can be used as a method to dislodge Deidara from on top of his C2 Dragon.



Hiruko - Scorpion Puppet Armour
Hiruko was a puppet worn by Sasori for the majority of the time which he used as a armour and a weapon. This eliminated the biggest weakness of a puppet user as Sasori was no longer physically separated by his puppet meaning the opponent doesn't attack him (the puppet user) but instead has to combat him directly (in his puppet Armour.

How Sasori could use this ability against Deidara: This could be used as a alternative fighting style for Sasori in the beginning of the fight and changing mid way through the fight causing Deidara having to suddenly adapt to the drastic change in fighting style.

298 Human Puppet Inventory
Sasori had a collection of over 200 Puppets made of deceased and very skilled Shinobi, they seem to still posses their abilities as shown through the Third Kazekage retaining both his Kekkei Genkai Magnet Release and his Iron Sand.

How Sasori could use this ability against Deidara:Through this he could gain the elemental advantage as he could use a human puppet which utilizes Lightning Style or another Kekkei Genkai which would provide him with a useful counter for Deidara's Blast Style.

Lethal Poisoned Weapons
Sasori had poisoned everything in his inventory meaning one scratch would first immobilize you and fully kill you within three days. The nature of weapons went from normal combat to a state of lethality similar to Hidan as exposing a wound through a cut meant that the posion would seep through thus killing you, it was this that made Sasori's fighting style so dangerous to combat because false moves and mistakes meant certain death.

Red Secret Technique: Performance of 100 Puppets
By making his body into a "Human Puppet" Sasori only has a small living core inside a Puppet Body in the image of himself. Inside his chest he has a hundred chakra strings which control one hundred puppet all simultaneously. With this he can overwhelm his opponent by controlling them in such a way where it is impossible to dodge. Also because the puppets are directly linked to him there is no response lag in between the command input and the puppet's response.

How Sasori could use this ability against Deidara: Sasori's 100 Puppet army could be used to overwhelm Deidara's C2 Dragon which might not be able to deal with all the incoming simultaneous attacks. Also Deidara's fragile state of flight (he is dependent on being on top of the Dragon) means that Sasori could easily dislodge him from there and resume the fight on the ground where he possess the clear advantage. Furthermore the sheer number of puppets means Deidara can't target all of them at once and they can also be manipulated together to form into a solid defence against the larger explosions Deidara throws at him.

Deidara's Elemental Advantage with Explosion Release and his Clay Bombs

Strengthened by Lava and Fire Techniques as they cause for a more destructive detonation due to the explosives increasing in heat energy which in turns increases the destructive power of the resulting explosion.

-Strengthened by Wind Techniques as they increase the intensity of the explosion (after detonation) and "add fuel to the flames" causing it to grow in magnitude.

-Immunity to Water Techniques as the explosions are still able to detonate under water and some of the larger scale explosions (C3 Exploding Statue) would be able to counter and evaporate the largest of water Techniques.

-Immunity to Earth Techniques simply because of it being the only solid structure element. The explosions would be able to break through most earth techniques and with the larger scale techniques only being countered by a few techniques in specific circumstances e.g. Gaara in the Sand Village.

-Severe Weakness to Lightning Techniques, they've already been shown what effect they have on Deidara's clay bombs. The effect turns his bombs into "duds" which mean they are incapable of detonating, effectively disabling them.

How Deidara could use this Blast Release to his Advantage
Sasori has only been shown to possess Fire Release and Iron sand both of which are at a disadvantage or strengthen his own technique under the right circumstances. Sasori's Fire Release would further the destructive power of each explosion affected by it and his Iron Sand would eventually be demagnetized due to the heat generated by each blast. Sasori was also said to have had a collection of 298 Human puppets which may have kept their elemental abilities. As shown above Deidara would be able to counter each and every one of these elements through the correct use of his Blast Release apart from Lightning techniques. However without knowledge of lightning creating the "dud effect" on Deidara's bombs it would effectively become usless due to it being the classic scenario of wielding a weapon but not being able to utilize it.

Why Deidara could possibly be stronger than Sasori ?


1) Heat Generated from Explosions Demagnetizes Iron Sand
The explosions Deidara's clay bombs create are an exothermic reaction which release heat upon detonation. The heat of his explosions tend to be reflected by the magnitude of the explosion itself meaning his C3 Exploding Statue would generate more heat than his C1 Miniature clay boms.

He can use this specific property to his advantage when facing Sasori's Third Kazekage Puppet as the heat generated from his large scale explosions (C2 Miniature Dragon and upwards) should be enough to demagnetize the Iron Sand causing Sasori unable to re-use it once demagnetized.

2) Ability to Avoid Direct Battle Confrontations
Deidara's Battle style tends to avoid direct confrontations at short and medium range as a whole. All the times we have seen him in battle (Sasuke vs Deidara, Gaara vs Deidara) he has immediately taken flight whether facing an opponent whether his opponent is capable of flight or not (Sasuke before he revealed the Curse Mark).

He's also been shown to use the Hiding Mole Technique to burrow underground and Clay clones which serve both the purposes of fighting in place of him and exploding afterwards to act as a offensive defense.

His fighting style will be a key contributing factor in defeating Sasori as his entire arsenal doesn't tend to transcend certain heights which Deidara can easily attain with his C2 Dragon.

3) Fragile Nature of Puppetry Techniques
Most of Sasori's fighting styles all share the same fundamental weakness of being dependent on the thin chakra strings which connect him to the puppet itself.

Due to the string's density they're relatively fragile and can be broken with Kenjutsu (swords), wind/fire techniques and etc. The force generated by Deidara's explosions would be enough to destroy the chakra strings connecting him to his puppets rendering him momentarily useless. He could also further capitalize on this by destroying the puppet before Sasori has an opportunity to reconnect the puppet strings.

4) Tracking and Shape Specialization of Clay Bombs

Deidara's Clay bombs have two very unique properties which take hsi fighting style to the next level rather than the basic use of explosives on different magnitudes.

-His clay bombs are capable of tracking which mean they act similar to kamikaze projectiles which follow the opponent until they are manually detonated.

This would be the perfect counter to Sasori's fighting style as it mainly consists of manipulating a puppet while his body itself is stationary.

-The second vital property is the shape specialization of his smaller bombs (C1 and C2) which can be molded into various different creatures.

This could act as a method to attack Sasori in many different ways and directions adding an element of unpredictably to his fighting style.

Insect-shaped Clay bombs could be used for sneak attacks, once they land on the target they can detonate at point blank range (see Deidara vs Gaara)

Bird-shaped Clay bombs could be used as his aerial and most effective tracking explosives which could be used to overwhelm him from various directions or compensate for the range of the battle as a long range battle alternative(when he is using his C2 Dragon).

Snake-shaped Clay bombs could be used to attempt ground attacks by hiding behind the terrain and springing surprise attacks when Sasori attempts to dodge explosions he can't defend against.



Alternative Arguments on how Sasori could win Against Deidara

1) Effective Use of his Performance of 100 Puppets
If Sasori uses his trump card sucessfully enough then Deidara's counters would pale in comparison to it. The puppets can be used as a form of elevation to reduce the range of the fight against Deidara in the air and eventually pressure him to land. If they are grouped together in front of or even around Sasori they can withstand most of the clay bomb explosions to further deplete Deidara's supply.

Also due to the lethality of Sasori's style he would only need to land as little as one successful hit on Deidara to win the fight (poisoned dipped weapons on his entire arsenal).

2) The Fight takes place in a Enclosed Terrain e.g. Akatsuki Hideout
If the fight happened somewhere with a enclosed ceiling or an upper limit then Deidara's chances would be severely crippled as his one of his main advantages in the fight would be to fly out of range of Sasori's attacks. The puppet user also specializes in close combat with his Hiruko Puppet and the ideal range to use his puppets is Short-Medium Range as they are far away enough for Sasori to remain safe whilst stationary but close enough that they are in range and there is little if not any lag between the transmission of actions to the puppet.

3) Eradication of Deidara's Tracking Clay bombs with his Fire Release technique
Sasori also possesed Fire techniques in a scroll which meant he could continuously shoot streams of fire out of his hands whenever his tracking clay bombs got close enough to be hit but far enough not to feel the resulting explosion. This would provide Sasori with a annihilation method to prevent from Deidara's attacks from getting close to hitting him.

I feel that Deidara would almost definitely win, however if i was not logical, and i looked on it more on an experience battle, Sasori being 11 years older than Deidara would possibly win, as he would have less slip-ups/know how to asess opponents faster. Also Deidara is rather hot headed, while Sasori is calm and demure and i would say more intelligent. Intelligence is always a big factor in any battle.

I dont thinks so. Iron sand can easily tank C1 and C2 without any damage. C3 would inflict some damage, but its still tanked. C4 is completely useless against Sasori.

***** for such an amazing thread as always...... but this battle can go either way as some others have said, but i would go with sasori on this since he is deidara's senior lol... here are my reasons why sasori would win, i have no doubt sasori will start this out in hiruko mode witch is one of his most used puppets, deidara's C1 explosions would be renderd useless against hiruko's advanced defense so deidara will have to step up his game switching to his C2 dragon wich hiruko would have an extremely diffulcult time dealing with, so sasori would switch to the kazekage, deidara would have to be using his giant bombs wich use up a good amount of chakra on sasori since sasori can use the iron sand to defend him self from deidara's smaller bombs thats why deidara would have to use bigger bombs to break through the iron sand but the sand can also be used to attack, as you have seen in the garaa vs deidara fight deidara had a hard time dodging garra's sand so instead of attacking deidara would be busy trying to evade the iron sand making the C2 dragon transformation useless against sasori's iron sand since the C2 dragon is an easy target since it is a very large target making it easy to hit and is slow wich would make it hard to try to evade attacks, so ultimately deidara would have to use drastic measures to beat sasori such as his C3 statue bombs, as we know sasori would not be able to out run the blast raduis so that would leave him to use the iron sand or hiruko to protect himself im pretty sure the iron sand and hiruko could probably take a hit from one of those blast but if deidara decided to use it again it would destroy his defense, but after those two blast deidara would probably not be able to use it again since it requires a lot of chakra, so sasori would be forced to use to use him self or his 100 puppets, that only leaves deidara to use his normal C1 and drag the fight a little more until he runs out of chakra or loses, or to blow him self up with sasori wich i dont think will happen since sasori would use his 100 puppets to kill deidara before he can get close to him, and again this is just a scenario that could happen its my own little theory, but in this fight it can go either way i would like to other scenarios that you guys can create long live sasori!!!!!...

I know Deidara is fast, and can fly around in the air with his claybomb dragon, but managing to dodge every single poison weapon is simply to difficult for him...

Deidara would also have a hard time against the iron sand...

I honestly think Sasori would win mainly because his poison, his poison is a huge factor in this fight, Sasori can possibly counter Deidara's explosives with the iron sand, also I don't see why he can't control 99 puppets and the third Kazekage at the same time. Sasori has the wire that comes out of his chest that is coated in poison as well so distance isn't really a problem in this fight.

I believe Sasori takes this high difficulty only because of Deidara's Clay dragon that fires high speed dragon bombs, but they can be countered with iron sand as stated above.

Awesome thread! And I agree, mainly because they are both long distance fighters but due to Sasori's puppet constantly being sent out he leaves himself wide open to attacks from anyone of Deidara's clay bombs.
