      Re: Blacked out

I don't know really, but usually when a white flash occurs and the screen goes black then it's cooked .-. , but don't take my word for it, this is just an opinion I hope it gets fixed.

      Re: Blacked out

I hope this helps, but do not try if you feel unease about it. You've been warned.

Turns out is something to do with excessive charge stored within the components of the laptop. In this situation there is a fail-safe that will stop current going to different parts and being the screen uses more power than anything it is most often affected.

Unplug the power, take the battery out and hold down the power button for around 60seconds. This will release any excess charge built up in the machine. Put the power back in and turn on. That's it. You can also then of course replace the battery.

Now there will always of course, be various reasons for your screen to fail etc but most will not allow your laptop boot with all lights on and all the little 'plink' noises you can hear which suggest the laptop has fully booted.

Hmm, do you constantly keep it charged?
It could of fried a part of your motherboard, display adapter, ect.
You could also try opening up your laptop and clean it with a dust spray.

Edit: Some people with the same issue.
You could try some of the methods they've suggested.

There should be screws, probably within sockets. Use a screw driver, but i recommend using a dust spray.
I've never tried cleaning any other way and you don't want to touch the components incorrectly. It could damage
      the laptop even further.

      Re: Blacked out

Also, check the video adapters. If you have vga/dvi/hdmi/svideo etc, try finding a capble and connecting it to an alternate monitor/tv. If it displays on the external device, then the video chipset/GPU is still good and there is an issue with the monitor itself. If it doesn't display on the external device, then the video chipset/GPU is probably in disrepair. Alternatively, if the external device does display your video chipset/GPU output, then there is most likely an issue somewhere in between the video chipset/GPU.

      Troubleshooting 101.

If you determine the issue is with the video chipset/GPU there really isn't anything that can be done other than replacing that part. If the issue is between the video chipset/GPU then you will want to check the cables, and the connectors. Do not spray anything into the connectors. If there is corrosion built up on the connectors, you will need to replace that part if possible. If the cable is damaged, burnt, or frayed, you will need to replace that.

Keep us updated, if you can diagnose the issue yourself, you can probably end up saving money in the end.
