Madara did die after Hashirama died, did they have some unkown fight afterwards maybe? He died in some aftermath wars when the village was founded.

I thought he died in the chain of wars. He was probably overwhelmed when he was much older than during his battle with Madara. Just like Hiruzen, his chakra reserves must've depleted considerably.

Maybe old age.. Madara was hooked on life support and lived for decades. Even Obito said madara was his ancestor, so I think It's old age..

He died young and in the 1st war before his brother became 2nd hokage... and he also died in that war. How was he killed? Probably by a bunch of assasins, his wife, however, lived long and died from age.

The same thing that killed Itachi is what killed Hashirama - Ninja AIDs. I wouldn't be shocked if Madara gave it to both of them a kind of slow virus that kills you over time, lol lets call it a virus jutsu.
