    Re: Genjutsu - Mattobi

Genjutsu is when you use your chakra to disrupt the one of your opponent. You use this to create an illusion on him, this is usefull to torture him without his knowledge, to gain information etc...
A Genjutsu master is Kurenai, she has been shown to have good control with genjutsus against Itachi as she used it directly, without hesitating.
There are some things that help you improve your genjutsu like the sharingan or like a summoning. A powerfull sharingan genjutsu is the tsukiyomi and a powerfull genjutsu summon is the giant clam.

    Good enough.

Here is the template I want you to follow :

    PHP Code:
[B]Description of you performing the technique:[/B
    [
    B]Weaknesses of technique:[/B
    [
B]Strong points about the technique :[/B
    First technique :

(Genjutsu: Kokohin) - Illusion Technique: False surrounding
    Rank: D
    Type:Supplementary
    Range:Short
Chakra Cost:10(+5 if you use it double)
    Damage Points:N/A
Description: The user controls creates a false surrounding which can change the way an object or small area looks(if used double then its a layer of false surroundings not easy noticed by the enemy).

You will focus your chakra and release it towards my brain. Once the chakra has reached it, I want you to control my brain to make me see things that aren't there or make me miss things that actually are there. Once you're done with that, I want you to repeat but this time, adding two layers, making it more difficult for your opponent to realize he is in a genjutsu.

    Re: Genjutsu - Mattobi

Description of you performing the technique:
I concentrate and start sending my chakra trough the air into your brain. Once I have sent enough chakra, I focus on the house that is nearby and I use my chakra to manipulate the image of it in your brain and make the door disappear. Once the door is invisible for you, I send another amount of chakra into your brain and I use it to change the image of the house in your brains again. This time I manipulate them so, that there appears a window where normally the door was situated.
    Weaknesses of technique:
If you only create one layer, the opponent can see trough tge genjutsu more easily.
    Strong points about the technique:
You can completely disorient your opponent and he'll get confused, because (for example) there was a door before and it changed into a window.
You can also do it to "hide" yourself. You can let a rock appear in front of you and your opponent won't know where you are.

I beg to differ; if your opponent sees you, then suddenly gazes at a rock that simply appeared in front of him, he will realize he is in a genjutsu. When using genjutsu, I'd say timing is the most important fact you need to pay attention to. Firstly, do not make things out of the blue. Secondly, make sure the genjutsu allows you to blend in with the surrounding. Thirdly, under no circumstances allow the genjutsu to be "unreal" or else, I can guarantee you, you will get yourself killed before you can say "Oops". Improve your description and think more into the genjutsus if you want to improve, else this method is completely and utterly pointless.

    Moving on :

(Genjutsu: Kahen Tonsou) - Illusion Technique: Flower Petal Escape
    Rank: D
    Type:Supplementary
    Range:Short
    Chakra Cost:10
    Damage Points:N/A
Description: The user vanishes in a whirlwind of sakura petals.

This one is very simple and straight-forward. Again, insert your chakra into my brain but this time make me believe you're vanishing in a whirlwind of sakura petals while in reality you never moved from your original position.

(Genjutsu: Kasumi) - Illusion Technique: Servant
    Rank: D
    Type:Supplementary
    Range:Short
    Chakra Cost:10
    Damage Points:20
Description: An illusionary servant that is really a paper bomb that once in range of the opponent will explode.

Now, this one technique is all about timing. You will need to do things simultaneously, so get ready. Begin by inserting your chakra into my brain, like for every other genjutsu, but then make me see a servant that can take the appearance of whoever you please. Note to make it as realistic as possible, because if a camel appears out of the blue, your opponent will realize he is in a genjutsu.

Now, make the servant run towards your opponent as you throw a paper bomb as well. That will make the user believe the paper bomb is in fact the servant and thus will defend against it accordingly, allowing the paper bomb to explode, probably dealing some damage.

Sorry about this, by the way. I had to copy/paste my answer from another student because he stole your answer and I didn't realize until after I had replied.

    Re: Genjutsu - Mattobi

Genjutsu is a way of sending your chakra into your opponents brain and then use it to disrupt his chakra flow. Sometimes you need to perform handseals. You then manipulate your chakra to cast an illusion over your opponent who will think that the illusion is really happening. What is important, I think, is that you can't decide how your opponent will react. Meaning that you can't cast a genjutsu and say how your opponent will move or act accordingly. (Unless you're an Uchiha and use a specific genjutsu? Not sure, but I think this is what happened in the manga at one point?)
Apparently, I didn't know this untill I read the rules, there are two types of genjutsu: chakra fueled ones and non chakra fueled ones. The difference is that non chakra fueled ones only affect our senses (sight, smell etc...) and that chakra fueled ones have bigger impacts on a person; they may actually hurt (? not sure ?) them. One of the chakra fueled genjutsu types is the Sharingan. This clan is closely associated with genjutsu and they have a wide variety of genjutsu.

Once a genjutsu has been casted on you, there are a few ways of releasing yourself from it.
    1. A secondary chakra source must send chakra throughout your whole body in order to reset your chakra flow. This can be done by clones, other shinobi and summons.
    2. The Kai technique. This jutsu allows you to release yourself from the genjutsu without a secodary chakra source. Though you must recognize the fact that you are in a genjutsu, you can't just decide that you're in an illusion.
You can use other jutsus, but they have to be released from your whole body. Examples are Chidori Nagashi and the jutsu Kakuzu uses to turn his body black and stronger.
    3. Another way is to damage yourself, cutting your finger is enough, but that only releases you from low genjutsu. Though, once again, you must recognize the fact that you are in a genjutsu.

You can also layer genjutsus, if you cast two genjutsus and make it so that they mix, the opponent will have to break through two genjutsus.

Good. Read this thread and imbed it in your mind, it will be handy in the future. http://narutobase.net/forums/showthread.php?t=395771

Now to start the actual techniques. I will post the technique and explain everything I can about it. You will then tell me it's usages, weaknesses, strengths etc. basically anything you can think of, okay? No need to perform the techniques.

( Magen: Kokoni Arazu no Jutsu ) - Demonic Illusion: False Surroundings Technique
    Rank: D
    Type: Supplementary
    Range: Short-Mid
Chakra Cost: 10 (+5 if you use it double)
    Damage Points: N/A
Description: The user casts an illusion over an area that allows him to manipulate the way an area looks to fool an opponent. He can only change the way the terrain looks, and not any other feature.

A D-ranked technique which allows you to alter any aspect of the terrain. You can basically change the entire looks of the battleground in your opponents mind. You can use it twice to create a layered genjutsu and alter the terrain some more.

    Re: Genjutsu - Mattobi

A small, yet usefull jutsu. Since it alters the terrain, you can make it look like you perform an earth jutsu. The C-ranked spikes for example, your opponent will try to stop that with (for example) Nagashi. To use it as an excuse to release the genjutsu, but by the time he does this you have already created a wind jutsu that goes through the lightning and hits him. If you alter the terrain too much, your opponent will just realize it's a genjutsu.

    Rank: D
    Type: Supplementary
    Range: Short-Mid
    Chakra Cost: 10
    Damage Points: N/A
Description: The user makes five handseals, appearing to dissolve into a shower of cherry blossom petals. These petals surround the opponent, blocking his vision. This allows the user to mask his movement effectively.

After doing 5 hand seals you seem to disappear in a shower of cherry blossom petals. These petals then go towards the opponent, blocking the opponents vision of you. It's a handy technique since you can mask your presence and use it to your advantage. It has a mid range reach so you can easily cast it. The drawback is the amount of hand seals you have to perform but since there are a few ninjutsu techniques with the same principle, it is a bit hard to deduce it's a genjutsu.

This genjutsu is good, because it "blinds" your opponent. You can thus alter the terrain without him knowing it, you can send another jutsu his way without him noticing etc... You can even use the genjutsu I learned before (False surroundings) and make it look like you altered the terrain. Since he couldn't see, he wouldn't know you actually didn't change anything.
Ofcourse this jutsu is also pretty usefull when your opponent is running towards you. He won't see where he's going so he'll probably stop running and you can use this knowledge to your advantage.
One thing I thought of is that it is important not to use this jutsu after a fire jutsu since normally the flower petals would burn, but since it's a genjutsu they won't. Your opponent would be able to then deduce that it's a genjutsu.

    Range: Short

After doing one hand seal you throw a kunai. In the illusion the enemy will see a clone instead of a paper bomb which will explode upon reaching the enemy.

Tbh I don't see too much in this jutsu, other than the fact that it can be used together with kage bunshin or another type of clone. Your opponent will think the illusion is also a clone, whilst in reality it's the kunai. He'll probably try to kill the clones and if you're lucky not deflect the kunai.

( Kasumi Jūsha no Jutsu ) - Mist Servant Technique
    Rank: D
    Type: Supplementary
    Range: Short-Mid
    Chakra Cost:10
    Damage Points: N/A
Description: This illusion creates numerous illusionary clones of the user that appear to emerge from the ground, trees, rocks, etc. If these clones are attacked, they appear to multiply. The user can co-ordinate his attacks with the clones to make it appear as if they are real.

A technique where you create multiple illusionary clones that emerge from your sourroundings. If they are attacked they multiply.

( Magen: Narakumi ) - Demonic Illusion: Hell Viewing
    Rank: D
    Type: Supplementary
    Range: Short
    Chakra Cost: 10
    Damage Points: N/A
Description: The user performs two handseals causing it to appear as if a swirl of leaves surrounds the opponent. The swirl eventually falls away, and after a few seconds, the opponent sees the image of whatever they fear the most, shocking them and potentially causing them to faint.

After to hand seals you make your opponent see leaves swirling around them. After several seconds the opponents sight will be clear from the leaves seeing the image of their biggest fear giving you a chance to make them faint.

    Re: Genjutsu - Mattobi

The first jutsu isn't that good imo. The opponent could simply use Nagashi as an excuse to release the genjutsu because he wanted to attack all the clones around him. It's best used to confuse your opponent for a little while, but I think it's easily countered.

The second jutsu is one I'd use when I want a nice rp fight. I think I'd be able to include it nicely in some moves and dialogues. It's also a decent jutsu because it can shock your opponent and if the "scary thing" is something realistic your opponent won't be inclined to think that it's a genjutsu. If your opponent fears spiders and you're fighting in a cave or dark forest, it wouldn't be too unrealistic for a large spider to appear.

    Re: Genjutsu - Mattobi

Alright we've mentioned the releasing of genjutsu and we've mentioned the Kai technique which is the basic tool from releasing from genjutsu. Now we're going to learn the actual technique.

( Genjutsu: Kai ) - Illusion Technique: Release
    Rank: C-S
    Type: Supplementary
    Range: Short
    Chakra Cost: 15-40
    Damage Points: N/A
Description: The user does one hand seal to focus and then proceeds to disturb his chakra flow by forcefully stopping it momentarily and then "spiking" his spiritual energy, unbalancing his chakra. This dispels any genjutsu set upon the user except MS Eye Techniques, Paralysis-like Genjutsu and Demonic Illusion: Toad Confrontation Chant. The effectiveness of this technique is dependent upon the skill of the user. A Jounin rank ninja can dispel Genjutsu up to C-rank. An S-class ninja can dispel Genjutsu up to B-rank. A Sannin rank ninja can dispel Genjutsu up to A-rank. A Sage rank user can dispel Genjutsu up to S-Rank. The user may use this technique through physical contact on others to dispel them from Genjutsu. The technique can only be used once per turn and the user still needs to fully follow the logic as to why he figured out it was an illusion.

After doing one hand seal you disturb your chakra flow by forcefuly spiking you spiritual energy which unbalances your chakra. It dispels genjutsu techniques set upon you with the exception of MS Eye TEchniques, Paralysis Illusions and the Demonic Illusion: Toad Confrontation chant. The effectiveness depends on the rank of the user. It can also be used on others through physical contact. It is used once per turn and you need to first deduct why it was an illusion before you can use kai. Now tell me it's drawbacks and advantages over other methods of genjutsu release. At least three of each.

    Re: Genjutsu - Mattobi

As the description says, Kai allows you to release genjutsu with a single handseal after you have figured out it is one. This can be useful because you don't need to hurt yourself anymore. If you don't have this jutsu, you might have to hurt yourself which could end up backstabbing you. While this jutsu allows you to release genjutsu, it's unable to release MS genjutsu, genjutsu that paralyze you (naturally, since you have to perform a handseal) and the Toad genjutsu.

Advantages of this jutsu are that it allows you to easily release genjutsu. I think (?) you can also release two genjutsu that are layered with it if you figure out the strongest one and release that one. Another advantage is that you can release genjutsu on anyone else with a mere physical touch.

Disadvvantages of this jutsu are, as I said above, that it can't release all genjutsu and you need to perform a handseal. It is rare for an opponent to only use genjutsu and nothing that follows it up. Most of the time another jutsu will be sent towards you and you lose time by performing the handseal. So sometimes it's better to go for another jutsu like Nagashi or Earth spear.
