There is a possibility that Madara tell a lie to Sasuke....But from manga it is clear that Itachi was ill....Before fighting sasuke itachi met with naruto and he give something to naruto...At that time itachi seemed pretty normal... But after that in fight with sasuke, he seemed weak...Maybe whatever he gave naruto took its toll...
Madara told a sasuke a lie thta itachi let him win, bcoz he wanted sasuke to feel weak and will take itachis MS...We all know Madara wanted Sasuke to do something and for that he want sasuke to be powerful but at the same time emotionally weak...So it can be seen that Madara let sasuke to be powerful but never drop a chance of reminding him how weak he is.....

You will agree, that madara never drop a chance to tell sasuke how weak he is....Whether telling itachi letting him win or always telling Obey me or die....

Im kind of late getting in on this but its was really obvious that itachi wasnt @ 100% and the fact that he let sasuke win he left the village hidden in the leaf and killed his entire family but spared sasuke and later after the fourth died he returned to ensure that they wouldent take out sasuke so really the whole thing with sasuke "killing" itachi was what itachi wanted i mean he even gave sasuke all of his eye jutsus insted of killing him when his back was aginst the wall so the point that is being argued isnt weather madara lied its did he tell sasuke everything.
