do you know tobi was the one who took itachi's corpse, sasuke just left it there.

there is no mental peace after the damage itachi and oro did to it. revenge begets more revenge. kakashi didnt know about obito yet still tried convincing sasuke to turn away from this path. all things considered i think kakashi has the more moral high ground compared to itachi. and why would he go back to konoha after attempting to kill naruto and his whole team practically cos he felt like it? sasuke was a danger to everyone and everything and itachis selfishness/corruption of his own brother led to sasuke becoming konohas greatest threat.just killing an s-class isnt enough. look at their reactions after sasuke supposedly took out orochimaru. NO ONE CARED except naruto who was wondering why he wasnt coming back. sasuke never intended on going back. thats what he made peace with when he said that he would sacrifice everything if it meant itachis death. even his own soul. he didnt care about anything else and if itachi died along with obito, then sasuke would be a wanderer, hunted like a dog by danzo. or betrayed by suigetsu while still weakened from that fight/killed by akatsuki in revenge. and IF he returned either danzo or pain would kill him as he wouldnt have the power necessary to take them on. itachi left only one course to sasuke and that was death which he only escaped because of taka.

Itachi manipulated Sasuke so that he would take his eyes and become the ultimate last surviving Uchiha to revive the clan with EMS. His decision to eliminate the clan was not intelligent but rash, I'll give you that. He could've handled it differently, but, in his defense, I would say that his love for Sasuke blinded him to think rationally. He made a human mistake. I won't begrudge him for that.

wasn't Madara basically a paranoid crackhead? believing the senju were were downplaying the uchiha clan and trying to suppress them? maybe, maybe not. but seeing as madara was the only uchiha to feel this way, it was probably only his paranoia that started THIS WHOLE THING. the rest of the clan just wanted to live in peace yet madara wanted to cause a fight.

I like Itachi, so I won't call him an idiot. I blame Kishi with his inconsistent plot twists. But anyways, yeah, there's a lot to his plan that really doesn't make sense. You forgot one thing, though: the Amaterasu bomb Itachi planted in Sasuke's eye, which was set up to activate on sight of Tobi's/Obito's/Kakashi's sharingan. So, even if Sasuke would have turned good and gone back to Konoha, he would've ended up killing Kakashi and been a criminal once more.

this guy is sad... Why do you think Itachi brought up the EMS in the first place within his fight with Sasuke? He told Sasuke about the EMS on purpose to put the thought in Sasuke's head. Itachi waited until Sasuke was ready to gain the MS to finally die by his brothers hand and thus that would give Sasuke the MS. This is why Itachi told Sasuke that once you gain the MS you will begin to go blind after each usage of the MS. This is why he brought up the EMS SO that Sasuke will take his eyes and thus his plan will move along. We don't know what Sasuke would have done with Itachi's body and eyes if Obito didn't come to take Sasuke and Itachi's body. Itachi just prepared for it when he triggered AMA to react apon seeing Obito's sharigan. Sasuke most likely would have taken Itachi's eyes just incase. I doubt he would have transplanted them right away though. Anyway, if Obito didn't show up then Kakashi would have been there to take them back to Konoha OR Karin,Suigetsu and Juugo just would have taken them both and retreated.
