So what happened to Neji?

probably the strongest out of the konoha fodder group, together with lee.
the group just became fodder compared to naruto, sasuke, kakashi, gai, the kages, and some bad guys.
Neji is still pretty awesome compared to your average shinobi.
Probably even pretty good compared to the average jounin.

The only legitimate reason I can think of is that Neji dedicated all of his spare time in the time-gap to training 'Lady Hinata' and thus didn't really advance any of his own skills. I say this but they still totally promoted him to jounin so I just imagine Kishi is bored of him.

hinata can solo neji now.....i thought he was gonna be one of the most powerful characters....but now i bet sai with his half shirt could solo him.....hell choji could take him

OT: yup I agree. Although they did acredit him the rank of Jonin which was nice....just really lame he has no screen time anymore.

He has the same misfortune as the rest of the Hyuga clan in that they have been screwed over now that Naruto only take into consideration Ninjutsu...the taijutsu specialists can't do anything against the top tier unless of course you are Tsunade and can heal yourself for every time you are stabbed U.U
