Ok this is just a thought so.....here i go.

when Kakashi showed Naruto that he knew Resangan

He also said in the middle row on the left Kakashi says " Just regular 'spacial recomposition' has a 'rank A' acquisition level... At just that level i can somehow copy it..."

which made me think about Raikiri, he said that he developed Raikiri because he couldn't combine his 'Elemental Recomposed Lightning Chakra' with the 'Spatially Recomposed' chakra of the Rasengan. And he also said that he could somehow copy it at that level so what about in the Gaiden series!

In the first link it shows Kakashi saying that it was time to try out his new technique and in the second one it actually shows him conjure it into his hand.

What i was thinking was how could Kakashi develop Raikiri if he hadn't already 'copied' Minato's Rasengan for he did not have the Sharingan to use to copy the Rasengan.

what do ya think?

He must have copied rasengan after the events of kakashi gaiden. I don't know if it's said anywhere at what point the rasengan was first made.
IIRC the rasengan uses a higher level of shape manipulation than chidori/raikiri. I can't really remember but Chidori is mainly nature manipulation rather than shape.

raikiri is a advanced for a chidori. he created it after he couldn't combine chidori with rasengan

Basically raikiri/lightning blade was just an improvement of chidori but still with the original drawbacks of chidori.

its ok mate..its a simple mistake

didnt he create chidori because neither him nor the 4rth culd fuse there element into rasengan.

And plus copy doesnt mean always that he as to use sharigan it can mean that he was thought by the 4th how to use it and in base of learning is copying what other's do like kids learn how to walk and talk they copy adults, so he could have learned it before the gaiden and then developed the chidori aswell
