neji and rock have been teammates and have been developing a bond ever since
rock lee has always looked up to neji
after seeing sakua friend zone rock lee
neji tries to help lee by making sakura have no chance with naruto by pushing hinata and naruto closer together by sacrificing himself
so by doing this sakura doesn't get naruto and rock lee gets a time to talk to sakura of neji death and his feelings and then gets to form a relationship with sakura so neji is a genius after all.
