Do you think Lee already surpassed Neji?

We know how strong Gai is, and Lee must surpass his master. Lee was holding his own pretty well against Haku, against the 7swordsmen and defeated a whole bunch of Zetsu with ease without even using gates, when Neji had difficulties and was outnumbered. Lee still has gates in his arsenal. How could Neji handle that? Do you think Lee already surpassed Neji?

Gai has already stated that the Gates were the secret weapon with which Lee would have taken Neji down if he had the chance. Kishi never gave him that chance otherwise Lee atm would have a lot more respect that most folks give him.

Nah, Neji still destroys him..Unless he uses the 8 gates, but then he dies too... so does that count as a win if they both die? I don't think so.

And Lee will never surpass Gai without ninjutsu or genjutsu. He's reached his peak in my opinion. What better taijutsu could he possibly learn?

Yeah, I think Lee and Neji are going to be rivals like that too. Neji used to always beat lee, but now lee has trained really hard and can go hand-to-hand with Neji. Sure, if he opens his gates he's going to suprass him, just like if Gai opens his gates he's going to beat Kakashi at their silly games and maybe even in a fight.

Well we are hoping that he did not sleep during the 2 year time skip , though Kishi makes it seem that way.
Anyways 5th Gate is enough for Neji IMO.

Yet and still Lee cannot defeat Neji...Little neji was already keeping up with little Lee when he opened up the 5th gate against Gaara...after the time skip Neji drastically improved his byakugan from 50 meters to 800 and all Lee did was open up the 6th gate...Neji would still win
