Not really, I'd say the pacing was pretty much the same. It's just that the LN did the fight scenes from Kirito's representation which wasn't something that they included in the anime, eg trail of thought and stuff. Eg, we just see Kirito randomly attack Heathcliff whereas in the LN you got into his thought process how he noticed it ect.
Alfeim will probably be rushed though, it's like 25%-50% longer than SAO. =|

THATS MY EXACT REACTION After watching todays epi ... I Mean WTFFFF !!!! R u serious ??!! This is the END !!! I have never seen any anime ended Like THIS one .. So sudden ... In the end it said ... Next Epi "Return" .. But WTF is THIS ... I am very Sad >_>

But be honest here, did you really expect it to go on for 800 episodes like Shin-chan did? It's something which is short, but really good as most anime/manga/LN should be like. It's not like it's ending as other said since it's been guaranteed another season and who knows, it might get another one after that. You don't know these things, but making it longer than two seasons will probably make it crap.

It's still called "SAO" even when they enter ALO. So no, SAO isn't coming to an end. It's just entering a different arc.
