CNN? They do operate on a global scale but what do you call their operation? Propaganda young minded one....
Nas
Tech n9ne
Lupe Fiasco
Eminem
Hopsin
Lowkey
This list is pathetic because I should be able to name over 20 conscious lyrical rappers in today's game...but that list is far from ever being complete.

I'll be sad when rap dies. When rappers like Lil' Wayne stop using the N word a bunch of times, and rap about something meaningful again then rap will be revived. I remember when Eminem was in his prime. Those were the days. Even though I would know nothing about Tupac and rapping back then, but I know that it's 100% better than it is these days...

Re: Lil Wayne
Lil Wayne is a version lyricist that, went from a rapper to a crossover star. He left the confines of hip hop and crossovered into a new demographic, which is why he blew up eventhough in the hip hop world he was already near the top. But best rapper alive still goes to Jay-Z, not even close.

At his peak I would say he was the best you still have jay nas em still making music. If you meant hottest then yes at that time he was the most looked for rapper.

Re: Lil Wayne
IMO Rap died when Slim Shady stopped rapping. I stopped listening to rap for a while but I still listen to slaughter-house here and there. As of right now, I'd say Eminem is ONE of the best rappers.

Re: Lil Wayne
wayne honestly stopped caring the way he used to. he made it and thats it all rappers stop caring once they make it big and they just make random ass songs and eventually stop making music and appear on rare features like jay z and diddy.

Re: Lil Wayne
well im probably one of the biggest hip hop fans on the base since its all i listen to but id say wayne wen he dropped the carter 3 was the best rapper alive 1million 5hundred thoudand copies sold in a week... thats unheard of people this incredible feat was repeated when he sold amillion copies again in a week with carter 4 the one thing no one can deny is he has the greatest record sales in recent years the man is a hard worker and has the most known label in the industry young money has the most powerful high selling stars in the game thats facts wayne nicki and drake alone make more money then most rappers will ever see but if your speaking lyrical talent then 09 wayne will take this again currently his lyrics lack the originalty they used to have which made you say DAM hes good but songs lyk sky is the limit and amillie show how versatile he was back then now id say the hottest rapper in the game is 2chainz not lyircally but through his harwork and constant features he is known by everyone if you listen to hip hop and dnt know 2chainz you havent heard current hip hop he is literaaly on every song that comes out but lyrically hes lackluster id give the hottest lyrics and the most hits out right now to drizzy drake when he gets on a song its almost an instant download so right now for me drake takes the title since i cant find a song of his i dont like but in waynes prime he was the best to answer your question

Re: Lil Wayne
I'll still stick to Eminem being my favorite rapper... even though I hardly listen to the genre I listen to Rock/Metal mostly but even so I've heard some rap "songs" on the radio that disappoint me.

just to name a few. its not dead, it just went underground and on the internet...depends where you live. most of them are touring and stuff but most of them fail to make it to the radio or choose not to. in order to not sell out
thank you.....being a good rapper doesnt mean only talking about meaningful things. When i listen to rap i dont always want to hear about someones life problems.
Dont get me wrong i love drake,j.cole, and nas. they are my favorite rappers.
But sometimes i wanna listen about cars and women, and other stuff rappers get. Besides no one can deny that its a lot funner to rap along with
ll wayne's song than it is with someone like nas

Re: Lil Wayne
I agree that lil wayne isnt as good as he used to be, and he's not the best rapper alive but you have to admit that he's one of the best rhymers alive. most rapper use the same words over and over but can still make a great song with those few words, I think that if weezy changed his subject matter and talked about something different then he will be the best rapper alive because his wordplay is good, but subject matter sucks

Yall some mutha fu*ckin idiots. Lil Wayne go. All of you that are saying hip hop sucks, ok that's your opinion. You hate rap or hip hop because you don't understand it. It's poetry. I really wish you never would've made this thread.

Re: Lil Wayne
Lil Wayne was everyones favorite rapper in 2007-2008. He was unmatched in skill. Almost every relevant rapper gave him props and said they acknowledged his skill. If you want proof ill show you. His unreleased music is his best. He has one of the best mixtapes of all time. (Dedication 2) and has released other masterpiece mixtapes like Da Drought 3 and No Ceilings. People who say he sucks and cant rap has never heard his stuff before 2010. He breaks records every year. He has over 1000 recorded songs and over 500 features on other artists songs ranging from Madonna to FalloutBoy to Rick Ross. Only other rapper who has more fans than him is Eminem. He skill dropped dramatically after going to jail but hes still better than most of the rappers these days. If you listen to "conscious rap" like Lupe, Kendrick Lamar, or Common then of course your not gonna like him but he does have some hidden gems . He has the best punchlines ever. "Even deaf *****es say hi to me, she tell a blind ***** and she say 'i gotta see!'" lmao genius . Most of his raps are comedic and clever if you dont just listen to the mainstream bullshit. If you've never heard Da Drought 3, Dedication 2 or Tha Carter II then you gave no right to hate on him . If you did but still say he sucks then your just a bandwagon hater.

Modern music, in general, lacks the same soul and complexity as classic rock. Taylor Swift said she wrote 'Never Getting Back Together' (or whatever it's called) in around 25 minutes. When Led Zeppelin wrote Stairway to Heaven (which alot of it was "stolen") in 2 hours, that was considered incredibly fast.
To say a entire genre is garbage that is close minded. i would say that hip hop and rap could use more substance as far as the quality of music but thats hard for an artist to do unless he or she is independent and making enough money to be independent cause at the end of the day its about making a better life for you and your family and if that means making some ignorant music then so be it.
