Naruto 601 Tsunade's quote is a mistranslation
Hiya guys!
Ok, I've seen a couple of threads going around regarding Tsunade's conversation with Katsuyu that took place in manga #601. People were debating where Katsuyu was going to take the Kage's and if Tsunade was a clone and stuff...
Yet again, it's a mistranslation.
The exact conversation goes as:
Katsuyu - Tsunade sama!! (綱手様!!)
Tsunade - Katsuyu... I have a request... (カツユ…頼みがある…)
Katsuyu - Yes! I'll put your body together... (はい!今あなたの身体を繋いで…)
Tsunade - No... My body can wait... Now... The Kage's... To my side... There's still... Time... (いや…私の身体は後でいい… 今は 影達を…私の元へ…まだ…間に合う …)
So, Tsunade just wants Katsuyu to bring the Kage's to her side so she can heal them or if they're dead sacrifice herself using an awesome new jutsu that we haven't heard of yet and die in a very hero-like manner. That's all. That's the actual body of Tsunade (albeit severed in two by a tree trunk). There's no Slug-Sage World that she's hiding at or anything.
It's not relevant to the plot but I thought it'd be better if I cleared it up.
Over and out.

send her out with a bang. it does seem relevant to the plot if you think about her role in the madara/kages fight.

Actually the best translation is 'bring the kages to me'. It's not only translation like word to work, it's also adaptation to suit better the language.
Meaning Tsunade can heal them through Sozo Saisei like she did in Pein Arc.

Re: Naruto 601 Tsunade's quote is a mistranslation
I kind of got that already.
Its kind of 100% certain she'll die.
And its about time too, she was the least powerfull Hokage ever, in fact, not even worthy of being it.
If the title of Kage goes to the strongest ninja of your village, I'd say Kakashi, Danzou or Naruto would've been viable options pretty early in shippuuden.

Re: Naruto 601 Tsunade's quote is a mistranslation
Thanks guys!
By the way, even I thought about Tsunade having something like an avatar or a backup some other place when I read the mistranslated manga that indicated her real body being somewhere else. So needless to say, it wasn't that obvious.

Although I must admit that Tsunade isn't strong in the usual ninja strong way, she's the best medi-nin in Narutoverse and has probably saved more lives than anyone else.
She's not a combat type but that doesn't mean she's not worthy of being the Hokage.
Besides, being the Hokage isn't and shouldn't be a title given to the strongest mutt in the pit, although it's portrayed as so.
Kakashi was a suitable candidate indeed, but he didn't want the position.
Danzo was suitable too, but his ''ends justify the means'' attitude kind of blew it.
Naruto was and still is too young and idiotic for the position. He's rash, brazen and knows nothing about politics and leadership. Minato was young too, but he was also a lot more mature than Naruto when he was given the position. Same goes for Gaara.
I can't imagine Naruto commanding troops like Gaara did in the war.
I honestly see someone like Shikaku or Naruto as the frontman and Shikaku as his advisor being the most suitable after the War Arc is over.

Re: Naruto 601 Tsunade's quote is a mistranslation
Who the hell would make that misunderstanding, Tsunade obviously is worrying about saving the other kages with some kind of jutsu instead of herself first. Also if she was a clone she would have disappeared a long time ago after getting hit, clones don't get cut in half -.-

Re: Naruto 601 Tsunade's quote is a mistranslation
The misconception was given the fact with "Bring the Kages to where I am".
I got confused as well on the first time, but then, after reading it somewhere else, the misconception got cleared.
Regarding the Hokage position, I wonder this... who else would've been able to save all those people in Pein arc if she wasn't there?
And don't tell me that they would've been brought back by Pein because he indeed brought up some of them, but not all since they weren't dead to begin with.
So give the lady some credit here.

Very nice thread but i would like you to help me with something....
Can you translate this page for me... i whant to know about what does the last place that has a sage mode mean Shikkotsu....
I looked at some things and it said Shikkotsu Forest (湿骨林, Shikkotsurin; Literally meaning "Damp Bone Forest")
Also do you have an idee of who could have this third sage mode... and what animal is it ?
Because we will see Tsunade gone without using any sage mode stuff ,,, Sakura is useless so i dont belive in Slug Sage Mode
So do you have any ideea what is this third sage mode and who can use it ?

Honestly there's no info on it other than it's name being mentioned by Kabuto.
It does literally mean Damp/Wet Bone Forest, and slugs are known to like wet places.
I immediately thought of Kimimaro and his technique Shikotsumyaku. He was able to manipulate his bones. It's not exactly like Tsunade's regeneration but it is some kind of living tissue manipulation. Tsunade healed herself by speeding her cell division rate, which is again, living tissue manipulation. Besides, Oro had been after Juugo because of his relation to Ryuichidou, maybe he was interested in Kimimaro because he had a relation with Shikotsumyaku?
But after I read the Japanese name of Kimimaro's technique, it's obviously unrelated.
It's written as 屍骨脈. Which consists of the kanjis for death, bone and pulse.
Kimimaro's 屍骨 (Shikotsu) literally means dead bone.
Shikkotsurin (湿骨林) on the other hand, is made up of the kanjis for damp/wet, bone and forest.
The Shikkotsu (湿骨) here means wet bone.
It's just a phonetical similarity.
I'm just guessing, but I think it's indeed the Slug Sage place. I thought that Tsunade's Byakugou had something to do with this but apparently not, she referred to that jutsu as her own kinjutsu, her own creation.
But she might use something related to it to save the Kage's, who knows...

Re: Naruto 601 Tsunade's quote is a mistranslation
Shikotsurin might be Tsunade's.
Why? Because Humid/Damp Bone Forest leads to her and her slug.
Slugs live in wet areas. That part is already self explanatory but the Bone part might be referring at the fact that how slugs evolve to snails who have that shell of theirs. So maybe Tsunade will develop some sort of strong defense similar to the snail's shell.
We'll just have to wait and see.

By the way, I just recalled that in a Japanese folk tale, Jiraiya Goketsu Monogatari, Jiraiya (who performed toad magic) fell in love and married Tsunade (who performed snail/slug magic).
His archrivals name was Yashagoro, but he later on changed it to Orochimaru. Surprise! He performed snake magic.
In olden Japan, it was believed that there were five different kinds of magical practice. Toad, snake, snail/slug, bird and spider.
I guess Kishi only gave credit to three, in order to honor the folk tale.
So, I think that after learning that Myobokuzan and Ryuchidou are the respective homes of toad and snake/dragon sages', Shikkotsurin seems to be related with slugs.

Well, yes.
And he based them not only on that but by the japanese belief Slug>Snake>Toad>Slug to balance them.
Not to brag about myself or anything like that, but why I believe that Shikkotsurin's going to belong to Tsunade and that it's the perfect timing to show it off now, it's this.
Actually makes a lot of sense.

Well isn't this a blast from the past, been at least 6 months.
Good to know, but I think most of us realized this was the proper translation, it was pretty clear that Tsunade is planning to sacrifice herself.
