Itachi told Sasuke to hold back. They basically fought Kabuto on a scale from 1-10 on a 6 or 7 level 8 at the highest. There was no intention to kill and whenever Sasuke looked like he was going to take it there Itachi stepped in some way. Don't forget both Sasuke and Itachi can put Amaterasu with their other eye so it's not a 1 shot kill like people are making it.

If Itachi wasn't there he could have killed kabuto but the edos won't be released and then they found a way to remove the control of edo tensei giving the edos their free will back and then the edos crushed madara and tobi then they all formed a new akatsuki which is good and then peace comes :D

Its when edo itachi broke the technique that this event occured.

Sasuke did not target kabuto directly with amaterasu, he only put it arround him. Kabuto cant dodge a direct amaterasu attac.

I think sasuke would win but it could be very close. I admit that Kabuto has a lot of impressive techs many of which sasuke has not some across but your forgetting the reoccurring theme in the manga that sasuke is very talented and though maybe not on the genius levels of Minato, Itachi or even maybe Kakashi he is certainly superior to kabuto who relies on the techniques he has implanted and his belief in his own victory. I am most certain that sasuke would come up with a counter which is simple but well executedwhich is his speciality(for example Fight against Danzo, fight against Deidara, fight against Itachi, chunin exam after his curse seal and some others that I can't think of right now).

The main battle in the manga is talent vs hardwork and kabuto has neither. If naruto could wipe the floor of Kabuto then so can sasuke otherwise the balance would not be right. In addition people say that most of sasukes techs are nullified by kabutos abilities but I will counter that by saying he would create the condition for his techs to hit and that's why kabuto will lose.
