I Think Rin Purposely Asked Kakashi To Kill Her
If anyone else noticed, there's a hint of the Mangekyo in his eye when Kakashi starts to faint and one of those Mist people curses something about 'He got it...'
I'm starting to think that Rin asked/forced Kakashi to kill her so that he could gain that eye and protect the village. I mean, it was probably just the two of them fighting an entire army and Rin probably thought it was best that at least one of them survive, and the only chance of that happening was for Kakashi to activate the Mangekyo Sharingan.
Long story short, Rin dies of her own free will and found some way to convince Kakashi to kill her. Obito arrives a bit tad too late to realize what really happened. This is why you don't assume things~
And then again, this is only my opinion.

Re: I Think Rin Purposely Asked Kakashi To Kill Her
I doubt it was for a MS. I doubt Kakashi even know how to attain MS.
But nice theory! Different thread than what I've been readin -.- all I see is "rin is a spy rin is a spy"
It's annoying .-. And I've seen the same thread about that at least 5 times today

Re: I Think Rin Purposely Asked Kakashi To Kill Her
Kakashi found out Rin was a mist spy. He decided to take her out before the enemy could obtain the intel she gained from the leaf. Rin including the other mist shinobi were surprised he figured it out... thats why Rin said "kakashi.." and the mist ninja was like "Shit, he got it..."

Re: I Think Rin Purposely Asked Kakashi To Kill Her
Who knows! Good thought on her asking him to do it. But yeah she isn't a spy since they said wanted her body for some unique quality I guess she has...doesn't make sense until next week I guess -.-

Re: I Think Rin Purposely Asked Kakashi To Kill Her
to me i think he killed her like Kisame did to the secret intelligence squad so they could not take her alive then kill his self after but he passes out before he could kill himself and obito just comes in at the end and lose it

Re: I Think Rin Purposely Asked Kakashi To Kill Her
Rin had something that the mist wanted badly. They were surrounded. It was only them two against a bunch of mists. Basically kakashi knew that he was going to die and Rin was going to be taken. He did all he could to protect Rin but there were just too many mists.
Since they thought Obito had died, they wanted to die as well to rejoin with Obito. Kakashi for sure would have died but Rin would have been taken as hostage. So both Rin and Kakashi decided that this was as far they could go. So Rin asked kakashi to kill her so that she wouldn't be taken as hostage alive. She wanted to die with kakashi by her side.
If kakashi wouldn't have killed Rin. The mist would have killed kakashi and Rin would have been taken alive. Obviously they wanted Rin alive because they said at the very least they wanted the corpse of Rin. The mist planned on taking Rin alive.

Re: I Think Rin Purposely Asked Kakashi To Kill Her
I don't think Rin wanted to live a life where both kakashi *her love of her life* and Obito aren't around. The mist would have gotten something important that could have damaged konoha. She would probably be brainwashed, tortured and whatnot
This was a no no no future for Rin and begged kakashi to take her life before it was too late. Rin told kakashi it was ok because they would be meet obito in the other life. Then with all the pain in kakashi's heart, he killed her and the strong emotion caused kakashi to faint.
If obito wouldn't have been there, kakashi would have been killed by the mist.

Re: I Think Rin Purposely Asked Kakashi To Kill Her
wow pretty crazy theory you got there ... only problem is how did rin or kakashi know about MS?
i think that rin's body had a secret or there was some type of experiment done to her body which is why the bloody mist wanted her body.

Re: I Think Rin Purposely Asked Kakashi To Kill Her
I can see that happening actually. Usually, there is always a trick up their sleeve that ends up being their "ace in the hole". Perhaps Rin was smart enough and knew about the Sharingan (Either through knowledge or Obito told her about it one time with her) and during the battle with the Bloody Mist, knowing they were unmatched and would be beaten, she then tells Kakashi of the MS Sharingan, which is far more powerful than the current eye he has now. I can see her then saying that the only way to access it is to kill her, (since she is very close to her) and perhaps she knew that if she did die knowing it would activate it, then perhaps she also had in the back of her mind that, if Obito would still be alive, then Obito would be able to be just as strong as well (doubt she knew that far though lol just an assumption). I can really see that happening in ways, as Kakashi looked very sad when killing her (obviously) I think she suggested it, seems like a thing Kishi would do lol. Good Theory btw :D

Re: I Think Rin Purposely Asked Kakashi To Kill Her
Kakashi probably took the initiative and killed her suddenly so that the mist ninja could'nt capture her, she was shocked so I don't think she asked Kakashi.

Hm...I might have overlooked that. And if what you're saying is true about the Mist wanting Rin's body, then yeah, I guess that could be a valid reason for killing her. <--that sounded so wrong O.o
