What is up with the headband, of the mist ninja's?
To me it looks more like a Konoha band is under it.

Sometimes the headband symbol is not that detailed and the lines are made thicker so in my case it still could be possible.

Sorry guys, OP's at least right about one thing. the < which is the only thing visible of the headband in question is enaugh to rule out all smybols but the Hidden Rock and the Hidden Leaf. Those are the options for the affinity of the Ninja whom it belonged to.

My comment on the whole situation: If this is how it was, I'm beginning to understand why Obito came back to madara. At that moment he probably lost all of his faith in his companions, his village and the world of shinobi as a whole.
