Itachi is easily my favorite character. All that he did was for the good of his brother (who he trained to hate him) and his village (who he knew would despise him). He lived with that pain every day until dying with a smile on his face. More than anyone in the series, Itachi knew the meaning of sacrifice. A true hero of Konoha.

itachi was a vicious psychopath who is actually responsible for the corruption of a six year old boy through savage mindrape, manipulations and put him into a coma which could have been permanent. he commited one of the worst acts of mass murder in the naruto universe cos an old man threatened sasuke. if he wanted so badly to not live with the pain why not help obito complete moons eye plan? that way sasuke would be free to live as itachi intended for him to live. a mindless brainwashed slave for a village that hates him and killed his family. itachis one of the worst most evil villains in konohas history. its not just uchihas hes helped kill. what about the jinchuriki? all the people diedara kileld in his sand invasion? all the people pain killed because itachi had a failsafe for obito but not him? all the people oro killed because itachi spared him for no reason?
and i dont think a true hero of konoha would viciously and brutally torture a jounin from konoha for 72 hours for absolutely no reason iother than to make kakashi suffer and put him in a coma.
he shoved a sword in his own mothers chest. doesnt strike me as very heroic.
