Why do People Underrate Part 1 Kabuto yet overrate Part 1 Kakashi?

Basically I've been lurking around here for a while and read some bizarre posts. Firstly speaking, it has been repeated by both Orochimaru and Jiraiya that Kabuto and Kakashi were on a similar level to each other in part 1. Kabuto managed to hold his own against Tsunade yet Kakashi freaked out when he saw Orochimaru. Even still there are many people who think that Kakashi would wipe the floor with Kabuto with low difficulty.

Furthermore, in VS threads, people say that Kakashi could have easily soloed the sound four while some even go on to say he could defeat the sound five just because the sound ninjas were beat by "genins" despite the fact that those so called genins were actually chunin level in strength. Also the sound four would have beat the Konoha ninja if it wasn't for intervention from the Sand Siblings who were easily low jounin level during the time of the Sasuke Retrieval Arc. Also each one of those genins were significantly stronger compared to themselves during the chunin exams so the gap between those experienced jounin and young genin decreased quite significantly. Also bear in mind that the sound four could have beat two jounin level ninjas if they hadn't retreated and those were Minato's body guards so they may be close to Kakashi's level. One of them also managed to hold their own against Baki, the same guy who destroyed Gecko Hayate, the jounin proctor of the chunin exams.

Anyway I don't really care about that but the hypocrisy in this forum is quite astounding when people claim that part 1 Kabuto would lose to Kiba, Shino and Hinata. They say that he'd get overwhelmed since there are three of them yet no one would say that Kakashi gets overwhelmed by the sound four even though the sound four>>>>>>>Kiba, Shino and Hinata. Some even went on to say that genin part 1 Shino could beat jounin part 1 Kabuto who managed to hold his own against Tsunade and Kakashi.

So what is up with that? Not saying that Kabuto loses to Kakashi but it would be a tough battle for the both of them.

As much as I hate to admit it, Kabuto is skilled in his own right (that means excluding all that DNA stealing going on). However, I always got the impression Kakashi was a much stronger ninja. While Kabuto had some powerful jutsu, Kakashi was basically legendary, had the Sharingan and what, 1000 jutsu?

One shouldn't underestimate Kabuto, but I really doubt he'd survive long vs Kakashi.

good opinion but i find in part 1 kakashies sharingan and nindogs and rakari would be too much for kabuto ps. orochimaru is way more frightning then tsunade and kabuto thought he could take tsunade becuase of her weakness/fear of blood

It's probably because people have paid more attention to Kakashi's fight with Zabuza than Kabuto's fight with Tsunade and Naruto (the major fight was the Sanin showdown there).

I think people underrate Kabuto because he more of a behind-the-scenes fighter, and people tend to notice flashy upfront fighters. Kinda sad because he is very smart and strong.

Most people forgot about Kabuto's self body healing (not the healing palms) and his huge array of medical equipment. The chakra scalpels are pretty haxed too. Casting the entire stadium into a genjutsu is pretty haxed too even though it's a weaker one.

Kabuto was an incredibly powerful ninja even without Orochimaru's help or DNA. If he managed to find your weak point you were pretty much screwed- that's why even Kakashi hesitated to fight him.

You're right, Kakashi also hesitated to fight Kabuto and was almost a little scared of him and said himself they were of a similar power level.

Going by feats, Part 1 kakashi was stronger than Part 1 kabuto , Kakashi would beat him high diff.

Kabuto would last longer due to hyorogan's use, but overall his stats and medic skills will not deter kakashi evade, dodge and end the battle due to a superiority in all forms of combat really.

That said, both of them are high jonin level. It will be a high diff match.

Kabuto in Part 1 is underrated frequently on this forum actually, people actually believe Kabuto couldn't take Team Kurenai or Asuma.

Kabuto part 1 was a close range fighter, an all range fast ninja, a master sharingan like Kakashi is bad match up for Kabuto.It's not for nothing that Kishi showed kabuto escape the fight 2 times when he faced Kakashi.

Then Comparing Orochimaru and Tsunade doesn't prove anything, Orochimaru was at his top prime (edo tensei + healthy) , furthermore Kakashi didn't even fight him even if he thought that he can't beat him at that time.Not to mention that it was a lot earlier than when Kabuto faced Tsunade.Even an armless Orochimaru was able to handle Tsunade and Jiraiya.

Because Kabuto was nothing more than Oro's a ***** back then, and people just underestimate him because of this. Sure he beat Tsunade, but she also didn't look strong at that point and lost to genin Naruto w/o any kyuubi chakra involved. Kakashi on the other hand is one of the main characters and of course people are going to over rate him.

That was OBVIOUSLY a plot no jutsu moment so that Naruto could showcase his rasengan, it wasn't like he was going to land a hit on Orochimaru or anything. This is the same fight where Kabuto had Tsunade the Sannin in the palm of his hand, please don't underestimate him, that's the same as saying Kakazu or Neji were weak (both got plot no jutsu'd too)

The manga said itself they're equals, theres really not that much more to it.

He hesitated because Kabuto had a kunai pointed at Sasukes life support unit.

He said he was skilled for being able to use such high leveled medical ninjutsu at that age.

He only says he isnt genin. He dosent say, "You are on my level". Fallacy reaches new heights.
But guess what? Dead Soul Jutsu, changing a dead bodies face etc isnt going to kill Kakashi,

Jiraiyas statement maybe considered a plothole. There have been similar ones before as when Itachi said that Jiraiya could solo both Itachi and Kisame which is BS.

But thats a seperate story.


Kakashi with his sharingan precog and Raikiri takes down Kabuto whether you like it or not. Sure Kabuto is strong. But he isnt doing anything to Kakashi.
