I doubt that he would just die like that. if he were to die for good we would have a couple of flashback-chapters.

Kubo hasn't confirmed anything. It's just heavily implied.

There are 2 ways Byakuya could still, in theory, come back.

1) Unohana. When Byakuya ripped Renji to shreds with his Bankai Unohana healed him. Though it can be argued that Byakuya left him alive (just barely) on purpose, it still doesn't change the fact that that Renji and the current Byakuya are more or less in the same shape.

2) Orihime. Period.

Well we now know he isn't dead yet, so there is hope for him. Though Kubo has a bad habit of killing off the best characters, while characters like Momo still persist on living.

Ulquiorra, Gin, Yamamoto...Not a good trend here.

Plot skills?

What the hell does killing off a character have to do with plot skills? That makes absolutely no sense. Ulquiorra no longer played a part in the story, and Kubo killed him off. It's not always sunshine and rainbows, if Kubo didn't kill of characters I would question him as a writer.

And just to let you know Kubo confirmed in an interview a LONG time ago that Grimmjow is still alive.
