No. They're not so far in age. If would be my son/daughter, I would agree.

Re: dating: would you care?
Only 3 years of difference and both passed the age of puberty.
Well if they both were older then it would be more 'normal' I guess. (I don't see what's wrong with that)
Personally, I wouldn't care.

Re: dating: would you care?
There are adults who are have much greater age differences and yet still maintain healthy relationships. The only problem I see here is that the maturity difference between 14-17 and 40-43 is simply phenomenal. Neither a 14 year old or a 17 year old are overly mature and I don't think it would turn out well. The 17 year old is more likely to push a 14 year old into something prematurely.

I don't agree that they're passed puberty at this stage. The 17 year old may be close to being physically developed but the 14 year old isn't. That and mentally/socially they're still children.

No, its only 3 years. I don't go 3 years out of my age for dating. Its a rule.

Re: dating: would you care?
I wouldn't do it, I believe. I don't care if others do. Like others said, in good points, the age difference isn't that bad, but the maturity could be.

Re: dating: would you care?
Would it matter if they were 24 and 21?
The only issue I see is when one turns 18. That's babysitting at that point, not dating.

Re: dating: would you care?
Hmm... I think the 'adult way of life' is creeping its way down to younger and younger generations, that is what disturbs me, though let me put it like this: If people want to delude themselves about love, then let them.
It's their responsibility, though I doubt they understand it completely, and if they end up regretting it or getting hurt, then that's that.
I, as an older person however, whom actually believe myself to have some insight in what people usually refer to as 'love', if I may be so bold, wouldn't court a young person's delusions on what love is, was this about me, that is.
I can't honestly think of any young person I've met ever giving me the impression of understanding this matter very well, which might just be my ignorance though.
So, it's not a question about 'ok or not?', but rather, it's their business, not mine.

Re: dating: would you care?
You should look up your state's law. In my state it's illegal for an adult (18+) to date someone under 16. So if one of you turns 18 and the other is still 14...
